Chatterjak | 33 comments Stolen this game idea from another group that I am a member of, hope you enjoy it too.

The rules are simple. Basically, the purpose of this game is to list a title AND author.

Then, someone else must list a new title using a word from the title before, OR another title from the same author.

For example:
Person 1: Incendiary by Chris Cleave
Person 2: Little Bee by Chris Cleave
Person 3: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Person 4: Women by Charles Bukowski

Hope this is ok with you Holly, I've seen you put out a general invitation to start threads of our own, so I thought I'd take the plunge!

Lets start with

The White Queen by Philippa Gregory

The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins

Holly (hollycoulson) I'm making it singular here because I'm slightly cheeky :)

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey

(Amazing, amazing book. Apologies for the lack of links, stupid iPhone app doesn't let you put them in...)

Liân | 59 comments My first thought was actually a Doctor Who episode, and my second (title with the word "girl" in) was another Steig Larsson book! But I'm going to go with one I loved when I was a girl:

The Naughtiest Girl in the School by Enid Blyton

I had to learn about that man in my biopsychology class. It was really interesting.
The Man in the Iron Mask by Alexandre Dumas

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

If I had the chance to spend a day with any author, dead or alive, it would be Oscar Wilde. I love this guy.

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) The Hobbitby J.R.R. Tolkien I liked this story and read it in school and enjoyed the animated version of it too from Rankin Bass.

Chatterjak | 33 comments Picture This by Joseph Heller

I'm sure he'd be fascinating, imagine being on the wrong end of his witty quips though!

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

I would love to be at the wrong end as long as he signs my books and possibly my arm so I can have it tattooed on there, haha. Have you seen Wilde with Stephen Fry as Oscar?

message 28: by Holly (new)

Holly (hollycoulson) I'm going to be a bit cheeky and do 'Two' instead of '2', and use O

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

Never read The Handmaid's Tale. I will have to look into it.

Liân | 59 comments Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens

You should, it's a great read.

Bleak House by Charles Dickens

There is not enough time to read all the books I want to read. Sigh... maybe if I live to be at least 100.

message 35: by Holly (new)

Holly (hollycoulson) My mum's just said that I can get the 16-book set of Charles Dickens novels for Christmas. I'm a very happy bunny :3

The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales by Edgar Allan Poe

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

The House of the Seven Gables by Nathaniel Hawthorne

I am very jealous. I want it. What books are in it?

message 37: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I enjoyed the fall of the house of usher and other tales. ^_^

message 38: by Holly (new)

Holly (hollycoulson) This is the set I'm getting :D

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Scarlet Begonias by Stephanie Michelle Geman-Marcotte

^^I've never read this book. I only know about it because my grandmother seems to believe it's the greatest piece of literature ever written, haha.

Holly, excuse me while I wipe the drool off my face... I want it. I would feel guilty buying it when I already have about half of what's included there, though, haha. You'll have plenty of Dickens to dive into this year.

message 40: by Holly (new)

Holly (hollycoulson) It's just so cheap, I can't help myself... I only have three anyway, so I can can cope with it, and they were bought for like 75p from second hand bookshops so I don't really mind. I found a picture of what they look like. It's seriously awesome:

A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle

Chatterjak | 33 comments Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris

Which is a great read that I recommend to you all!

My apologies Amber, we must have posted our message 25/26 at the same time - I hadn't seen your Hobbit!

Lissa, yes Wilde is a wonderful film, and I adore Stephen Fry!

message 44: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) That's okay Jackie. ^_^
