I have not started it yet but I have read it a few years ago. It's a reread before I finish the series.

I get what you guys are talking about. I started two days ago and still at 20%. I'm busy this week too so it kind of sucks :\

20% I'm really confused. This is one of the strangest books I've ever read. It's just... weird. I'm really curious about how everything is going to turn out. (view spoiler)[

I mean the selective memory loss is weird enough but then the weirdness doesn't stop there. You get a bunch of adolescents in the weirdest place. They have crops and animals and moving walls! I see they tried to make a rope to escape through the box hole but has anybody thought of putting that effort into climbing one of the walls and looking at the maze from there to see what's beyond? Or even walk on the walls instead of between them? They sound thick enough for people to walk on them.

Everything is well and good though except that I find their "language" a little annoying to be honest. I'm glad they don't use it a lot so far. I mean klunk? shank? I don't know why but I'm not at all impressed. (hide spoiler)]

The scene where Alby and Minho couldn't make it inside was really intense! The walls closing. Thomas deciding. I could almost hear the menacing music playing in the background. His decision to go out to them was incredibly stupid and incredibly brave. I think the source of his bravery is his ignorance. He's looking at everything with fresh eyes and trying solutions for the first time.

I don't see how they spent the night running. I mean from sunset to the sunrise of the following day is a very long time. Thomas waited first then did this ivy thing then took off running. It doesn't seem like enough things to fill that time. I'm glad they made it out okay though.

Also really liked the part where he kept hearing whispers in his head. That was creepy lol

I wonder what The Flare is. And what's really going on? I can't wait to find out. I hope I can pick up the pace though, this is taking me too long :\ (hide spoiler)]

Up to page 104 (view spoiler)[ I have already read this book a while back but with the movie coming out and the need to finish the series I'm reading it.

I forgot how much I liked this. Reading the line Welcome to the Glade was great.

Mira already stated it but I LOVE how weird the whole concept of the book is. From the memory loss to the maze to the one girl to the boys abilities to survive on their own. It's great!

What I like about the writing is how I felt like the new kid who arrived in the Glade. I felt like I was with the "NEW KID." The author has done a great job writing this book.

Welcome to the Glade is the kind of phrase that gives you chills. I totally agree. And the writing is really good. I mean the weird phrases don't even bother me anymore.

Honestly, starting this, I never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I am right now. You're right. I hate putting it down. And I hate that I chose to read it during a busy week. It's your second read though, I don't know if I'd enjoy this as much if I know how everything is going to turn out. (hide spoiler)]

You're right! That's why it's been around him a lot. I never even thought of that. And by the way, the whole universe of the book is giving me nightmares. Well, not nightmares but a lot of incoherent dreams. That's how I know I'm invested in a book, when it pops up in my dreams lol. I don't remember what happened in chapter 16 though. 70% Klunk just got real xD (view spoiler)[ Now there's no sun. No day. No night. Just endless grayness. The doors didn't close. The Grievers are in. The map room is on fire. Alby is seriously injured. Gally is taken. Probably dead. Plants won't survive. Supplies won't come. I mean could this get any worse? It's the End in every way.

So far, everything with the boys was somewhat normal so I was really surprised to find that the girl had this ability to talk to Tom in his head like that. Is it a special ability? Can she read his mind? It's weird but kind of cool and definitely adds to how weird this all is.

Her attitude is pretty cool too. She's not scared. If she is, she doesn't show it. She stands up to the boys and she's not about to take klunk from anybody. And as you see the language is kind of growing on me. xD

I like the characters much more now. They can handle themselves. I like it when they're in def con 5 mode. When they act mature like true leaders should. I was really impressed that they hid the maps! That was a very smart move.

@Mira (view spoiler)[It's my second read but it's been a couple years since I read it. I want to say I first read it in late 2009 or early 2010. So even though I have read it for me it's still a great book. I'm happy I have all of them now! I can just read them through!

That's so funny you say that because I definitely had a bad dream this morning, my boyfriend woke me up and said I was scream/crying ahhhh - but you're right. That's how you know your emotionally invested in a book hahah

The Iron King was TERRIBLE in my opinion.. It was too much fantasy and not enough realism for me.

I didn't really think much of Ben at the beginning thinking he had truly gone insane but when I saw others go through the Changing, I thought maybe they were too hasty Banishing him instead of finding other punishments. Though, what Alby said at the time rings true. Without these rules, they wouldn't have survived two whole years.

So, have you read the rest of the books yet? And if you did how do they compare to this one? Because it feels like it's gonna be sad and zombie-like later and I don't like either lol xD (hide spoiler)]
