Sam Hi All

I'm Sam, I read a wide range of books depending on my mood. I also listen to audiobooks although mainly do this whilst at work. I look after a friends baby 4 days a week and have also begun the process to become a foster carer so my challenge to read 100 books this year may become more difficult!

message 404: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Aikens (KimberlyAikens) | 1 comments Hi! My name is Kim, I'm 43 years old and new to your group. For me, my reading this year will include more Faulkner and I'd like to tackle some Dostoyevsky. However, I am also interested other genres such as mystery/ suspense, Christian/ inspirational, non-fiction and like I mentioned-the classics.

My passions include my husband, my church, my family, my animals, and singing chamber music.

Admittedly, I'm not well versed in poetry, after a lengthy study of the poem Song of Myself by Walt Whitman, I found it to be one of the most interesting ( and perplexing) things I've ever read.

As I am recovering from surgery, I will post as I can. Look forward to participating when possible.

Sarah Raymer (sarahraymer) | 31 comments Hi Kristi
I am so glad you are in remission! I hope and pray you stay that way! Welcome back to reading! I like you have read all my life and wouldn't know what to do with myself if I did not have a book in my purse a book in my car, a book in the bathroom and book at my desk and heaven forbid I not have a book on my night stand!
Happy Reading this year!
Sarah

message 406: by Vikki (new)

Vikki | 5 comments Hi I'm Vikki, I'm 23 and I love reading, always have. I am currently reading Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins and have been really enjoying it. I don't always have a lot of time to read but I decided this year I'm going to make more time to just sit down and read a good book.

I don't have a particular genre to read as I love all sorts of books, like I love Charles Dickens to Stephen King, autobiographies and just loads of different books to be honest, if the blurb interests me I'll read it basically :)

Vikki

I'm the same, I haven't been able to see Catching Fire because I wanted to read the whole series first. Although that said, I'm not big on film anyway. I'm reading "Mockingjay', and it's great so far :D

My suggestion to non fiction would be My Several World's byPearl S Buck. Or Hare with Amber Eyes which is non fiction anda bit of German history.

I would love to have a couple books to put on my book shelf from you.

Welcome to the group,
Cosmic

message 434: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Raymer (sarahraymer) | 31 comments Hi Gaby, If you travel by train everyday to get to work, where do you live? I am sure that does make for excellent reading time! So far you are the first I have seen that likes to read classic children's books. Which ones are your favorite. My sister loves to collect children's books, I'm not sure she reads them, but hopefully she does. I have written several children's books and after my daughter does some illustrations (she is an artist) I am going to try and get them published. They won't be what you read, but you might enjoy them. Anyway, welcome to the group!
Sarah

I like classics. Right now I am reading books that are about the times between 1900 and 1950. Could you suggest a German classic that covers that time period. It can be anything that reflects how people were thinking or struggling with. It can be fiction or nonfiction or one of both.
