Hi I am Kaura ^_^ I am 17 and a fan of YA,fiction, history books! And I love to read whenever I am not not preparing for my IGCSE exams or surfing the net this year I am challenge myself to read 36 book in English as it is not my first language.
Hi, I am Carol, I have always read a lot but with the swing shift at the hospital... on slow nights I have lots of time to read. The kindle was a bad thing for me.. I found when I was done with a book, BOOM! I could buy a new one right then. (much to my pocketbooks dismay LOL) I still love going into book stores and looking around. Most my books are e books now.. My dog likes to eat the paperback ones.
Hello! My name is Kirsten, 23 years of age and I live in The Netherlands. I never was a huge fan of reading, but when I read I book, I really enjoy it.
So I have challenged myself to read 20 books this year :-)
Hi all! I'm Danni. I hail from New Zealand :) I'm aiming to read about 100 books this year which may be challenge given its my final year of uni and I have to work to save for my wedding haha. I like to read a bit of everything, and tend to stick with authors I know and love though I do branch out from time to time :)
Hey guys! I'm Amy from Mississippi. I'm a 3rd year law student and I'm excited to get back into reading. Law school has left me with little time for luxury reading over the past few years, but it's a new year and I'm going to do my best to make it a priority. I don't really have a favorite genere but I do love a good autobiography. Right now I'm reading 13 reasons why and I also started Pride and Prejudice as sort of a "book club" with my best friend.
HI lovely readers! I am Valerie. I am 23 and hope to talk to more book lovers :) I am trying to do 40 books for my book challenge.
Hello book lovers, I'm Monique, hailing from Rhode Island. I'm challenging myself to 25+ books in 2014. Joined Goodreads this past July and so happy I did! I read lots of different genres, but would enjoy adding more humor to my list this year. :) Good luck to everyone.
Hi everyone,I am Kathy. I like book challenges and group book discussions so this looks like a good group for me! I particularly like group book discussions that use multiple threads to discuss a book instead of just one thread. I like to read all types of books, so I don't have a favorite genre. I am looking forward to participating in some group book discussions and book challenges!
Hello! My name is Ibeliz! I decided that this year I would join a book club and here I am. I usually read mystery, science fiction, mythology and occasionally some YA! I tend to also love books that bring a new twist to a classic story or a historical event. Along with reading a certain amount of books this year, I have a goal of experiencing different genres. In 2011 I went back to college and therefore my reading for pleasure has been limited. I feel that if I put a number on how many books I read, I will be more motivated to close my textbooks for a change, and give myself some balance by enjoying something I love. I'm looking forward to discussing books with everyone!
Hey ya'll! My name is Becca, currently near Fort Lewis, Wa. I teach college American history, am in the Army, mom of two boys, and a wife. LOL, life definitely keeps me busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love to read, and MOST of the time I post a review of the book right away, although there are a few that I need to back and fill in, as I have not gotten to them yet. I am up for debating books, and looking for great reads for this year. I have to read all the books my students use for their book reviews, but I try and read two to three books a week. I love pretty much any genre, although I am not a huge romance fan. I can live without the soft porn in books these days. I also run a book club online for military wives and we have been doing that for almost two years. Sometimes you just feel as though you have no books that you can post that most everyone will enjoy, although we bounce through all genres so that we keep everyone happy. Anyway, I digress. Reading is a huge passion of mine, and one that I am hoping to pass to my children. We try and pick a book a month to read through together at night, and although they are young, I believe in challenging their minds, so we try and find books a bit above their level and enjoy as a family. We have read "The Shining Company" by Rosemary Sutcliff and Beowulf recently. Anyway, pretty sure this is more in depth than I meant to go. Any questions, just ask!
So um hi guys, my name is Maria and I just joined Goodreads (though I've been wanting to do it for a while). I'm from Finland so I'm not a native English speaker, but I like to read in English.I like contemporary, romance and scifi books. I plan to read 50 books during 2014 and currently I'm reading The Help.
Nice to meet you all!
Hi All! I'm trying to get back into the swing of reading more, so this seemed like a great group to join! I'm starting with a modest goal of 12 books for 2014, since I'm not actually sure how many I read last year!
I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading and hopefully discovering some great books I might not have found on my own!
My name is Marlana, Im 22 and I'm new here to goodreads. My Mom was a big reader and passed down to me a love of books. She passed away in May 2013 of Cancer. Maybe it's because I'm cheap or because I enjoyed having someone to talk about the books I read with, but I always read her books. Crime books. Now that I've gone through her library of books, I'm at a loss for what to read. Plus I have no one to talk with about books. I go into a book store and it's overwhelming trying to pick books. I don't really know my favorite genre. Obviously I enjoy crime/mystery but I'd like to expand and explore other genres.
My goal for 2014 is to read 50 books. And also to try to find my own favorite genre and find people who have more knowledge of books than me to help guide me.
Hi, my name is Gina. I am 28 (will be 29 on 1/30). I am a mother of twins a boy and a girl, who were born in September 2013. I hope to read 20 books this year but it will be a challenge with two little ones running around. I love reading romance, YA, and best sellers mostly but I am always in the mood for something different.
Hi one and all. its nice to be part of a book group. As to me, I'm a husband, a father, a nurse and a Christian. I have a very broad taste in books including science and fantasy fiction, pop science, theology and a good biography. I've pledged to read 30 books this year and have started it with Anthony Summers' take on the Assassination of JFK.
Hi, I'm Debbie and new to the group. I read most anything including the back of the cereal box if I'm desparate, lol. Hoping to meet some new people and get some great recommendations.
Hello! My name is Sarah and I am from Louisville Kentucky. I am new to blogging but so far so good. I am very anxious to get started chatting and seeing what other people are reading and trying new books out. I am currently in a Book Club and we are reading "Drinking From A Bitter Cup" by Angela Jackson-Brown. She was once in our club but moved and is now publishing her first novel. I just got mine and am so excited to get reading. I love all kinds of genres! No one in particular. Thanks for having me!
Hey, everyone! I've joined this group to motivate myself to read more. My boys are in college so you'd think I'd be plowing through books now that I'm not hauling them to baseball games and tennis matches, right? Wrong. I've been slacking. And there's my TV addiction ... So my goal is 50 books in 2014!
Hello :d I'm Nica. 16 years old :D My favorite author is James Patterson! I love his Women's Murder Club Series and Maximum Ride series :D
Hullo! Please call me Isobel. :) Currently residing in Doha, Qatar. I have always loved to read and I immensely enjoy shopping for books. Bookshops hold a certain allure and I feel so overwhelmed everytime I step inside. Here in Qatar, it's a struggle to find diversity in books so I normally get them in Dubai or buy lots from charity and from expats leaving the country.
I am a mom to a 6 year old boy and I am instilling in him the love for reading.
My favorite genres thrillers, mystery/suspense, action/adventure, historical fiction, chick lit, nonfiction...Basically, almost everything...except for science fiction. I stick to the authors I love but if you have suggestions/recommendations for authors in those genres, I would love to hear them! :D
Hey everybody! I'm Megan, and I love to read! Since I don't have internet or cable in my new apartment, it's given me a great opportunity to read a lot when I'm not at work. I tend to pick up YA fiction (recently finished The Infernal Devices series, and am on hold at the library for Allegiant), but I also love mysteries, and am trying to make my way through some of the classics I missed in high school. I hope to keep everybody updated while I make my trips to the public library, since I am here three or four times a week. Looking forward to meeting my reading goals within this group!
Hi! I am Vandana from Bangalore,India. Have loved books since I was a kid. From the comics to enid blytons, nancy drews and now to the grownup books. I am biased to Fiction, particularly thrillers, mystery, romance, drama. Books on philosophy, psychology, self help- now and then are fun too :) Looking forward to 'talking books' here!
Hello! I'm Lynn...new to Goodreads and the group. I like reading anything, but quick YA reads are probably my favorite. Awaiting the arrival of my kindle to hopefully read more and diverse books. I couldn't find a book club near me, so I can't wait to start the group reads!
Lynn wrote: "Hello! I'm Lynn...new to Goodreads and the group. I like reading anything, but quick YA reads are probably my favorite. Hello everyone! I'm Marie from Denmark, I'm 16 and like the rest of you, I love to read.
I usually read science-fiction, dystopian, fantasy and Y/A books, and my reading-goal for 2014 is 100 books.
Hi my name's Emma, I'm 35 and have a 15 month old. I love reading and have managed to get back into it after months of sleepless nights! I love reading all sorts of books from fantasy to romance to thrillers and crime novels.
Hi there, I'm Deb, My world has been full of many children, though they're grown up except for the last one, a teen boy. I read about 50% nonfiction, 5% poetry, essays, and plays, and 45% fiction. I'm currently reading Mary Karr's The Liar's Club, and Life After Life by Kate Atkinson.
I'm Denise. I'm mom to a 6-yr-old son and am an absolute book addict. I go in streaks with what I'm reading - fiction: paranormal, romance, terror, etc.; nonfiction: evolution, museums, history, 19th century social history, etc. My 2014 goal is 100 books.
I'm new to goodreads and am not very good at navigating around yet.
Hello - my name is Tammie and I live in Colorado. My love of reading started with Nancy Drew a few, well, decades ago and has not abated since. I like to read just about anything but lately have been reading mainly memoirs and political thrillers. I I look forward to exploring books by authors I've not read before.
Hi everyone, I'm Julie. Last year I fell a little short on my 2013 Challenge, so this year I'm aiming to read 60 books. If anyone wants to help mark my high school English assignments, it would really help me achieve my reading goals! :) I love contemporary fiction, and am learning to (re)love YA too. So, if you have recommendations please let me know!
Hi! I'm new to this group, though not new to Good Reads. I'm just terrible at updating! I vowed to be much better at it this year as well as read more. So I joined this challenge! My name is Tiffany and I enjoy all sorts of books, so this will be fun! I will read anything from YA novels and historical romances, to non fiction how to books and crazy action thrillers. I'm open to any genre of books! If you want to recommend something, I'll most likely try it!
Hi I'm new as of today. I was in a book club but I found myself too "academic" at times and half the members never finished a book. A little frustrating as it was a lot of socializing and very little discussion. So I decided to try this group out. I haven't been reading much lately since exiting the other club. I like classic literature but will say the book club forced me to read things I wouldn't have ordinarily picked up on my own. Looking forward to get back into reading on a monthly basis. I'm a physician with 2 kids, a husband and golden retriever to take care of so not a lot of reading time!
Hello from Susan in Albuquerque. I primarily read mysteries, and I'm a fanatic about reading a series in order. As a fun alternative to New Year's Resolutions, I join reading challenges. I went overboard last year with 50 (completed most!); this year I have scaled back to a modest 25. I usually find the challenges on novelchallenges.blogspot.com. I haven't found any espionage challenges for 2014, do you know of any?
Hello! I'm Arra, 14 yrs old and I loooooove mystery-romance novellas and Teen Fiction but I'm not very fond of vampire romances :3 . One of my fav authors is Elizabeth Cahndler, Julie Kagawa, and Neil Gaiman :)))
Hey Everyone! My name is Jen and I live with my husband and children in So. Cal. I have 4 year old twin boys and a 1 year old daughter. Looking forward to reading a lot this year!
Hi I'm Lillie. I haven't been reading pretty much at all in the last year or so because of school obligations and I joined this group to try to encourage me to get back into the habit of reading. I used to read at least a book a week so.... I don't think I'll get quite that far, but I really miss reading.
Hi I'm Mary and I am a teen from the uk. I always read from all genres but young adult and fantasy are my favorite. I am also an aspiring writer.
Susan, I am the same way with reading books in sequence... I just can't do it any other way! I go back and forth, though, whether to read prequels first or last (in-series chronology vs. real-work chronology). That tends to depend on the series.
Hello! I'm Courtney. I'm 24 from Georgia. I have been an avid reader for nearly 2 decades (haha) but in the years after college, I have lost the free time to read more than an office email! So I'm challenging myself to just do something I already love to do and seriously commit to finding the free time. So let's be friends and swap good book suggestions!
Hi everyone. I am a retired computer administrator/teacher. I enjoy a mixture of topics. historiacal, Biographies, Science Fiction, Mystery, and even some fantasy.
Hi, I'm Karen. I'm 35 and live in Houston and love to read more than most other things. I didn't take the challenge last year but read 87 books so this year I'm aiming for 100.I like all kinds of books but tend to read mostly series because I don't like loose strings and want to keep following characters. My favorite categories are mysteries and YA with some fun adult stuff on occasion.
Hi, my name is Chris. My reading tastes are horror, fiction, crime and fantasy, mostly epic fantasy. Also I'm writing a fantasy novel right now as my first project, but in Spanish, because that's my mother tongue.
I hope we can be friends.
Hi my name's Eric. :)Some of my favorite books are The Harry Potter series, Percy Jackson, TFiOS, an lots more! I hope we can all be friends! :D
Hi, my name is Kristi :) Like everyone here, I love to read. I'm partial to YA PNR but I'm not limited to it. Last year was my worst year when it came to reading but my best year in all other aspects. I went into remission from a disease that I thought was going to kill me at a young age so I spent the majority of the year doing all the things I missed out on and experiencing many of the new things I dreamt about when I was so ill.
I'm getting back to my usual reading habits now. Reading is something I've done almost every day of my life since I was a child.
Have a great night/day :)
There are so many new members. Welcome to you all. I hope you enjoy the group. I look forward to seeing what you all read.
