R12: Team #12 ~ Double Dozen

Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs
Finished: 9/21/15
Rating: ♥♥♥♥
I liked this one a lot better than the first one. This one had a very interesting plot line, and liked how there was more interaction between Anna and Charles. I just wish I could actually feel something between them. I really don't so far in this series, and I find it frustrating. Other than that I really thought the book was good. And I do look forward to read more in this series.

Title: Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts

Review:
I love Nora Roberts and this was a great start to a trilogy. I enjoyed her Blood Brothers trilogy and this is looking to be another hit. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next in this battle to save humanity. The battle between good and evil is always good but now there are witches, vampire, warriors and other supernatural being that I can see this is going to be another interesting read. What's not to like. So much to get through and I can't wait to see how these characters are going to get through this battle without losing or maybe being hurt in this trilogy. With Hoyt's powers from the goddess and the help of the other I wondering how they will be able to defeat Lilith. I guess I really have to continue the rest of the books so that I can find out. This was a really good start and can't wait to see what is going to happen next.

I have 14 of the 26 books in the Prey series by John Sandford that I haven't started and all the books in Sue Grafton's Kinsey Millhone series except for the last one - which I also haven't started...lol.
My closet is filled with nothing but books - it drives my fiance crazy...lol.

Anyway, I was looking back through our reads and we have completed our Favorite shelf and it's ready to be stamped. Since Steph went so long without stamping I'm not sure if it was overlooked or if we hadn't requested it yet. Sherri - can you check on or request our Favorite stamp whenever you get a chance?
I'm ready for shelf call - I need a book to read :)

I love it LOL. I got hooked on the In Death series well I won the first book and continued reading through them until something happened (don't remember what) and fell behind. My library as does the sales too. Hmm I'm going to have to keep an eye out for those books and start my collection. :)

I've just updated the main post showing the Overall Status, so if you have a minute just check your info to make sure I have you up to date.
Requested Favorite stamp now and I will do my reviews as I have both my Meow and Paranormal books done. They will be short but at least then I can request our Paranormal stamp.
Way to go DD's!!

Anyway, I was look..."
Yeah they are kind of confusing. As for the stamp, I think it might be that the request wasn't put in yet because I just recently posted it and I don't think Sherri saw it yet.

Title: Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews
Rating: ★★★★★
Read: 9/13 – 9/18
# pages: 342 pages
Review: Absolutely one of my favorite books of the year. The dialogue is witty and swift; as well as the action. The series shifts from the Pack to Kate and Currian’s new suburban life; but the awesomeness of this series did not get left behind. My favorite scene is the “family” going to Applebee’s. Hysterical! If you have not started this series and love UF, you have to read this one. Trust me when I say that the series is like a fine wine; it gets better with age.

Title: Fireborn by Keri Arthur
Rating: ★★★1/2
Read: 9/16 – 9/19
# pages: 370 pages
Review: This was a new series for me; although I’m familiar with Keri Arthur’s other novels and have enjoyed them. Fireborn features Emberly a phoenix, Sam a “human” detective and Emberly’s life-mate Rory. This book had a lot of firsts for me; one a phoenix creature and the second a lifemate where the individuals only mate but don’t love each other. Talk about a curse that sucks.
Overall, the series has some promises. I like the phoenix plotline and I like Em’s “relationship” fire fae Jackson. The mystery with the dark and mysterious members of the vampire mafia called the Sindicati is interesting and why they need Em is a complete unknown. The book does end abruptly and is continued in Wicked Embers.

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'PNR' and 'favorite'.

Good Job!! :D

We have 3 spots that we could definitely use for a Bingo. I hope we get a good shelf today :)

I was just looking at this book on someone else's shelf but it's had good and bad reviews so I wasn't sure if I wanted to add it. Hmm I might to think about this LOL

I'm thinking of usingit too. It is a pretty cover and I could use a sci-fi for another challenge too. :)

Who knew I could use all 12,000 characters. LOL!
I'm having problems finding a cover love. I hate everything I have.

Oh, I have enough!! LOL. I think I'm just sick of seeing the same covers over and over. My TBR pile is beginning to make me feel guilty for not reading them. They also only seem to have buff guys or kick-ass women on them. I think it is like my closet; I'm ready for a refresh.
I received

Well they all look and sound good to me :)

Title: Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews
Rating: ★★★
Read: 9/27/15
Review:
Honestly, I have to say I was disappointed with this book. It has such great reviews but to me it felt lacking. It was not anything in particular - Kate is a badass for sure. I like Curran but do not feel like he and Kate have made any real connection. Of course, they have not begun their romance yet as this is this first book and the only reason I know that they get together is from what I have seen about the rest of the series. It may very well be that this series is loved so much because it is not a whirlwind romance. I guess I was secretly hoping for another "Kat & Bones"-type couple.
I listened to the story on audio and with all the magic fluctuations and different organizations it just got confusing...I might do better reading the book rather than doing the audio - even though I think the narrator did a really good job.
I think the series really has potential and I know that oftentimes the first book of as series is not as good as the books that follow.
I have the MPB of Magic Burns that I have just started and I am hoping that it is able to draw me in as it has so many other people.

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman
Finished: 9/29/15
Rating: ♥♥♥♥
These Broken Stars was a good book. It had suspense, tragedy, hope, action, and more within it's pages. Except for the short parts aboard ships, it felt like any other day in any other year. Not too futuristic like I'd feared, but enough of a glimpse into the future to make it exciting and give it a boost above other books. I enjoyed Tarver and Lilac immensely.
I recommend this book to readers of all ages.

Title: City of Fallen Angels
Date: 9/26
Rated 4 ★★★★
Review:
I really am loving this series. I just wish Jace and Carly can finally be together and others would just give them a break. I even felt bad for Simon. He was so confused with what he is and which side he should be on. It wasn't like the poor guy wanted to be a vampire but I have to say I like the he's a vampire that walks in the sunlight. It really was an enjoyable book and can't wait to see how this series will continue and also how they would end it.

Witchling by Yasmine Galenorn
Finished: 10/6/15
Rating: ♥♥♥
This book was so-so. The characters are creative and engaging. However, the writer has a lot of extraneous material slowing down the action. For instance, all the teasing and sexual innuendo with Chase didn't seem to go anywhere. You could take him out and the book would speed up. In addition, the author uses a lot of abbreviations for the organizations such as OW for otherworld and and OIA (??). When I ran into them, I had to remove my attention from the story to try and remember what they stood for. That happens far too often. I will probably not continue this series unless I can use the next book for a challenge...lol

Review:
I think this series gets better every time. I really enjoyed this book. Harry learns so much about himself and other things in this. There was so much going on in this book especially with a war coming but other surprises coming into to play in this book. This was a relly good book and well written too. I can't wait to get to the next book and see what is going to come up now that Harry is someone of importance.
