I would recommend the Demonata series by Darren Shan. They're very short, gory, action filled books.

Anything written by Tamora Pierce. She's like a young adult fantasy master. If you're interested, you should definitely start with the Song of the Lioness series.

The Walking Dead comics are good to read if you can get your hands on them.

The Daughters of the Moon series by Lynne Ewing is pretty entertaining as well. They're a little on the shorter side so there isn't a ton of filler.

definitely house of night but read twilight too and vampire academy... and theres a new series out i love the first ones called cinder and the second is scarlet. Meyer's id the author. and i also have to recommend that you read discovery of witches by Deborah harkness!!!!! Its amazing tell me what you think!

I like Red Moon Rising by Peter Moore.The main focus is on werewolves, not vampires (though there are some prominent vampire characters), but it's that whole modern fantasy thing that you see in the House of Night novels.

Mostly everyone recommended most of all the books I was thinking of recommending so the one book that I didn't see that I think you should read is the Isle of night. If you like it, then you can read the rest of that series.
