message 103: by Tori (new)

Tori | 217 comments The year is officially half finished. Yeah!!!!!
I'm at 40. New personal best for me. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you only watch one TV show a week. (Lost of course...)

message 104: by Random (new)

Random (rand0m1s) I managed to hit 52 by the end of June. I'm currently aiming to see if I can come close to equaling that in the second half of the year. Might not be as easy now I'm employed again.

message 105: by Hanna (new)

Hanna (ohanners) Have read 32 out of 50 so far and I've got 8 more on my currently reading shelf but who knows when I'll get those done. It seems like they've been sitting on my shelf for ages.

I think I could finish 50 for sure by December, hopefully more?

Happy reading, everyone!

message 113: by Breezy (new)

Breezy | 11 comments FINALLY!!! I made it through #17, Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray". I think that is the longest it has ever taken me to finish a book. No matter... I've decided to do some easy reading for my next several selections. I've already read them, but not this year, so I guess it counts!
#18 down...
Janette Oke's "Love Comes Softly",

... now on to #19, Janette Oke's "Love's Enduring Promise". I am going to make it!

message 114: by Joanie (new)

Joanie | 335 comments It took me a long time to get throgh Dorian Gray too. I remember some chapters just being long, drawn out descriptions with no dialog-ugh!

I just finished book 48 last night and I'm halfway through #49. My goal was to make it to 50 books before September when I'm due to have my second baby and then just to be content if I mange to read more than one book while on maternity leave (which is all I managed with my son.) I'll definitley be at 50 long before my due date so now I'm just hoping to add any many as I can.

message 118: by Cherylann (new)

Cherylann I'm on books 46 & 47. I've hit a "plateau" and haven't had the will to read :( I'm avoiding my reading for my preliminary exams, and to keep myself focused, I've restricted my pleasure reading (in the hopes I'll do my required reading). Instead, I sit and stare a computer. . .

message 121: by Jane(Janelba) (new)

Jane(Janelba) (janelba) | 85 comments I read all the posts in the group and make notes of book recommendations but I work long hours and don't have internet access at work. I have just updated my booklist in the readers 50 books in a year listing and have amazed myself this year by starting book #134 today I believe ! I have never read so much in my life before but I seem to spend most of my unoccupied life reading. Thanks to various groups on Goodreads I have updated my reading in terms of style and content. I used to read mostly classics but have really expanded my variety now. Thanks for such a great group ! Jane in France

message 123: by Susanna (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) I think I'm reading #49. Which means I hardly "have to" read more this year. But of course I will :)

message 124: by Andrez (last edited Sep 18, 2009 02:14PM) (new)

Andrez (andrez-ssi) I will start next year.I'm just afraid that it may happen the same thing it happended in my 5th grade: I got out of books.
by the way I probabily read about 20 books in more or less 3 months.I have to provide my room with books to be ready.untill there, bye
PS-I hope it counts to read the same book in two languages, I mean they ARE different books right?

message 125: by Ryan (last edited Sep 19, 2009 06:34AM) (new)

Ryan I am Ryan, I just joined today. I usually wouldn't have a problem with 50 books per year but I just had a baby so I am more doing this for 2010 and to keep myself reading. In 2009 I haven't read as many books as usual but I am trying.

Efe I'm Monef, I just noticed this group today and it makes me sad that I haven't really paid much attention to Goodreads since I joined. This challenge sounds perfect for me. I think I will give it a shot anyway and see how far I get by the end of the year. I will try to add as many as I can remember reading so far this year to the list too. I'm really hoping to be in good shape for next year.

message 135: by Megan (new)

Megan Lyons | 83 comments I am at 31, but I haven't read very many challenging books this year. I have read a lot of YA novels, and a lot of them weren't very good, so I feel like I should read better books for the last half of the challenge.

message 136: by Susanna (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) I'm reading #21. Last year, I had read 17 books by May so I'm actually ahead of last year though I feel like I've read less than last year. I hope summer will make me feel better about it.

message 137: by Karla (new)

Karla Summer's my fave time to read. Outside in the nice weather, no school, nothing has to be done...

Emeshea (emeshenaenae) It appears that I am right on track. This is the 19th month of the year, therefore we should all be around book 19... Karen (karenofthebookworm) Hailey wrote: "That's pretty insane!"

It is insane until you take into account that I had the first two weeks of April off work and the first three days of that with absolutely nobody making any demands on my time.
I would say that at least half of the books were read during that time and when I'm working I usually have two or three books on the go at any one time.

Harley Jackson (harleyj) | 3 comments I'm only on book #14 :(. btw how do you post all the images of all your books like that?

message 145: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (nchhynes) Here's how to post images of your books

1. Go to the comment box
2. Click "add book/author" button
3. Chose "cover," not "link"
4. Type the title of your book into the search box
5. Find your edition and press "add."

It will appear in your comment as text in brackets. Just leave it like that. When you post or preview it will become a bookcover image.

I hope this helps
