Joelle frowned a little," Awww I liked her way better than all of your other girlfriends." She told him. Then laughed," sure sure whatever you want to think about yourself Brody." She said giggling a little bit. "Do you want me to do anything?" She asked. Looking at him. She sighed a little bit and put her head in her hands as she watched him thinking that this was what she wanted in a relationship. To be able to just be herself and not pretend she's someone the complete opposite of her.
He smiled a little bit and kissed the top of her head," I know baby but I need you to try not to worry too much." He said softly kissing her head again. He smiled," I love you." He called watching her go upstairs to their room. He sighed looking around their small house knowing he would miss just being in the same place as Sophia. When he found out about being stationed overseas for the next six to eight months he had asked if it could be put on hold for a little while longer just so he could marry Sophia and see his son be born, but that didn't happen for them. He went to see that his bag was packed and ready then headed upstairs to lay down with Sophia. "Soph?" He said softly hoping he wasn't waking her up or anything.
Wyatt chuckled softly and listened to her passionate speech about why he was such a good friend. He looked at her as she continued moving closer to him. Her soft sweet voice was enough just to make him want to do whatever he could to keep her with him as long as he could. Wyatt stared at her for a second as he just let what she was asking of him sink in. He smiled a little bit thinking that she really does like me. "I said that we should have the best summer ever." He replied softly looking at her with an expression that a best friend shouldn't have on his face. "I would do anything for you no matter how annoying you are or will be" he said moving a little closer to her. "I promise we won't waste our time together." He said leaning forwards the last few inches and brushing his mouth across hers gently and lightly
Brody rolled his eyes a little. He did go through a lot of girlfriends, but he just didn't want to stay with someone that he knew wouldn't be right for him. He didn't have the patience to deal with people he didn't even like that much. "I think I've got it, thanks though. I'm almost done." he told her, placing the pepperonis on the pizza. He sprinkled on a little more cheese before sticking it in the oven. He glanced up when he was done, frowning when he saw Joelle with her face in her hands. "What's wrong, Jo?" he asked, walking over to her side of the island.
Sofia's eyes were closed as she lay on her side in their bed, facing the door. She opened them when she heard him come in, a soft smile appearing on her face. She wasn't about to waste any of her time with Jake today by sleeping. "Hey, you." she said and reached a hand out for him. Her heart swelled with love and warmth from the presence of her fiancee. It would be so hard to stay in this house without him- it would just seem colder and emptier without him in it, even if there would soon be another tiny person living in it with her. "Do you have everything ready?" she asked, propping her head up on her hand to gaze up at him.
Grace stared at Wyatt as he made promises about this summer, mesmerized by the intense expression he was wearing. His voice was so calm and steady, where she felt like hers had been shaky and unsure. That was the kind of person he was in her life- a rock, a constant presence that reminded her that everything was okay and that she could be truly happy. "I'm no more annoying than you are." she interrupted with a small pout before smiling softly at him and nodding. "Good, I don't want to waste another second." she said quietly, almost whispering. She closed her eyes when his lips touched hers. It was the most exquisite feeling she had ever experienced- gentle and soft, but sending what felt like lightning through her. She opened her eyes for a moment to place her palm on his cheek before leaning in again. She kissed him this time- a real kiss, her lips pressing against his softly but firmly at the same time. She moaned quietly as their lips finally met after her dreaming for so long about this very moment. It was even better than she had ever expected it to be, and she was afraid to open her eyes and find that it was over.
Joelle looked at him with a little smile and just shrugged," Nothing is wrong really Brody."She said softly," I'm just thinking and I'm tired and confused and I just don't know who I am anymore. I mean there are things that Allen tells me and then things that you think of me." She put her chin in her hands," I don't know what or who I am anymore." She whispered not telling Brody everything but just scraping the surface of all of the things that were going on with her. Brody aways knew what to tell her when she was upset and now she was very upset and her sleeves had fallen down around her elbows almost revealing just how badly Allen had beaten her the last time
Brody frowned and moved closer to her, gently pulling her sleeves up to cover the bruises. He was sure that bastard was beating her up now, but he didn't want to bring it up again-he had promised he wouldn't. "You are not what anybody tells you, Joelle. Not Allen, not me, not anybody. What matters is what you think of yourself and what you decide to do with your life. You always have a choice, Joelle, even when you think you don't." he said firmly, his eyes bright but concerned. He hated seeing her so unsure of herself- she was usually so vibrant. "You need to separate yourself from this, and decide how you want to live your life and who you want to be."
Jake smiled at her and held her hand a little bit as he climbed into their bed beside her," yeah everything is ready for tomorrow." He replied softly slipping his free arm around her and pulled her close to him as he held her other hand. "Sophia." He said softly," don't tell me not to say anything okay? I just need to talk to you about what could happen while I'm gone." He explained softly," I just want you to know so don't tell me not to okay?" He said hugging her close as his voice deepened a little with emotion at the things he had to say before he burst
Sophia happily moved closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder. She sighed as he grew serious, her easy smile slipping into a frown. They had fought over this conversation many times; she didn't want to hear it. She couldn't even entertain the possibility that Jake might not come back. That she would be left to raise their son alone, without the love of her life. But she knew she couldn't get away from it this time, so she just nodded slightly. "Okay." she said quietly, letting go of his hand to wrap her arm around his torso, holding him to her as if she could keep him safe if she just held him there. "Say what you need to say." she said, sounding stronger than she felt.
Gracie often reminded, Wyatt to just have some fun and not be the serious person he always was. He chuckle softly at her interjection that she wasn't any more annoying than he was. He smiled at her," no more wasting time." He promised as she kissed him again but more of a kiss than just a brush of lips. He smiled and moved so he was closer to her so he could reach her better. Wyatt moved so he was half standing over her with both of his arms gently wrapped around her small body holding her like he was afraid she would disappear right then and there. He sighed softly and pulled away from her finally admitting," Do you know how long I've wanted to do that?"
"It's not that easy anymore Brody... I feel like everyone wants to have a say in what I do... I just want everything to go back how it was... When I didn't have to worry about Allen and I could just tell you everything and not push you away." She muttered wiping the tears that had leaked out of her eyes," Brody I don't want this anymore... I don't even know who I am... You don't get it... I've lost me.... I see this girl in the mirror and I don't know who she is anymore." Joelle said starting to really cry now.
Jake sighed softly as she didn't fight with him on this topic this time. He ran his fingers over her back as he wrapped both arms around her tightly. "Listen Sophia I know you don't want to hear this but I just have to tell you..... I don't know what I'm walking into when I step off that plane tomorrow night. I don't know how often I will get to talk to you on the phone or on Skype or whatever... I don't know anything until I get in that plane and then when I do know I can't tell you even though I tell you everything because you can't know what I'm doing." He said softly squeezing her a little bit. "But if anything happens to me I told Kyle to watch out for you even though I know you can't stand him very much." He explained," But him and my mom are willing to help you with whatever you need no matter what happens to me."

My posts are gonna be slow now because I'm getting ready to go to work))Grace couldn't help but laugh, moving over on the bed to make room for him to sit with her, their arms still wrapped around each other. "Not nearly as long as I have, I'm sure of it." she said and beamed at him, her smile spreading all the way to her eyes. "You mean so much to me, Wyatt. I don't want to keep my feelings all bottle up inside anymore. I'm not saying we have to put a label on it or be boyfriend and girlfriend or anything like that, but you mean so much to me, Wyatt. You're more than just my best friend, and I'm tired of pretending that you're not." she said softly, avoiding his eyes again because she was so unsure of all of this.
Brody shook his head, hating to see her cry. "Joelle, you can go back to the way things were. Just get rid of him. I'll help you do it, or we can go to the police and they can help you do it, or we can find somebody else- anything. You don't have to do it alone, but you have to do something. Because none of this is going to get better until he is gone." he told her firmly. He hated having to be so stern with her when she was so upset, but there was no other way to get through to her. She didn't listen any other time he talked to her. Brody sighed and wrapped her in a hug, letting her cry into his shoulder. "It will be alright, Joelle. I won't let anything happen to you. And once he is gone, we can work on finding you again." he said softly.
((Okay you are fine I'm just emotional about the one where he's leaving because I had a lot of people in my life leave to go into the army or Air Force or navy or marines... It's just something that's close to me.)) Wyatt moved to sit down with her keeping one arm around her as he nodded," Okay well I'm pretty sure I still beat you on that One." He said decidedly. He smiled at her," no more bottling it up inside and no more waiting for tomorrow. I don't care really if we call it whatever we want... I just want to spend as much time with you as I can to make all I this easier on you. " Wyatt answered hugging her and gently tugging on her hair like he did when they were little
Joelle looked at him and shook her head stopping her tears for a second," I can't..." She whispered. "He will find out and know it was me... I won't be able to get away from him like that he told me." She said hugging him tightly. "I don't want him to hurt you either." She told Brody burying her face in his shoulder as sobbing more. "At first I just thought he did it on accident and now he doesn't and I'm so scared Brody ... I'm scared."
Sofia buried her face in his chest, squeezing him tightly as he spoke. "I know you can't tell me, and I understand that." She said softly, running his stomach lightly with her hand. "And I'll be here waiting to answer your call, noatrer when they come or how often they come. I'll answer you at 2 o'clock in the morning if that means I get to hear your voice for a little while." She said softly, a few tears slipping into her cheeks. He shook her head when r started talking about his rother and mother, fisting his shirt in her hand. "I don't want to think about you not coming back, Jake. I can't handle that right now. It's hard enough with you just leaving. If anything happens to you..." She choked up a little, pulling him even closer to her. "I just don't want to think about it unless I have to. I know your family will help me, and that's good enough for me for right now." She murmured, pressing her lips to his neck a few times gently, her cheeks still wet.
Wyatt pulling her hair brought a smile out of Grace. She laughed a little, crawling out from under the covers to sit next to him on top of the blankets. "I don't care what we call it, as long as I get to kiss you again." She teased an elbowed him playfully, sighing as she rested back against the headboard. "What time is it? I'll have to go home eventually." She said reluctantly.
Jake held her tightly moving so he was on his side and cradling her close," I know and I'm sorry for making you listen to me but I just had to tell you before I left because I don know why but I just needed to." He said kissing her head and then all over her face," shh... It's okay I'm going to call you whenever I can and if you really mean it ill call in the middle of the night just to hear you yell at me for waking you up." He said softly hugging her as tight as he could without hurting her. " ohh look I've made made mad and cry all at once again."
Wyatt chuckled softly. Pulling on her hair was only something he did to get her attention. He never did it in a mean way just in a teasing way. "Well depending on who sees us I'm pretty sure they would label that as a boyfriend girlfriend thing." He said teasing her and hugging her a little. "Ohh I know but seriously I'll come and get you if you need me to or you can hang out here while they cool down after you tell them."
"I know you're scared, Jo." Brody said softly, gently drying tears from her face. "But you can do it. You have to." He said softly, looking at her with compassion. "You're stronger than you think you are. And we will find a way to protect you until we are sure that he can't get you anymore." He promised. "You're being hurt now, you're scared now, so you might as well be scared and safe and away from him." He told her firmly, shaking his head a little. "You can't live like this, Joelle. I won't let you."
Joelle looked at him as he talked to her. She had never broken down in front of him the way she had right then. She sniffled a bit and still cried even as he wiped her tears away. Everything he was saying to her was true and made sense she just was so scared to do anything about it but she found herself nodding at what he was saying an agreeing to get help
Sofia laughed through her tears, wiping them away. "I'm not mad, baby. And I won't yell at you." She told him and kissed his lips gently. "I'm just so worried about you, Jake. You're going to be so far away, and there's nothing I can do to help you..." She shook her head, giving a shaky sigh to stop the tears from coming again. "But I'm also so proud of you. You're a hero, Jake. And I understand why you needed to tell me." She said honestly. "I wish I had a Jake doll that I could hold every now and then." She admitted after a few moments and laughed a little. "It's hard enough to sleep as it is, I don't know how I'll sleep on this big bed all by myself." She noted, tracing patterns into his chest with her fingertips. It was hard for her to sleep at night, because it seemed whenever she wanted to sleep was when Kaden wanted to move around and do all kinds of crazy things. She didn't complain though- she was just amazed that her little baby could move around inside her.
Jake smiled a little hit as he kissed her back gently." I know but you can stay here and be safe and ill come back soon." He answered hugging her close. "I'm glad you think that about me baby but I would do anything to stay here with you until Kaden is born." He told her softly," a jake doll?" He asked laughing a little hit at her. "God I love you so much but you can stay here and be safe and ill be here soon." He said again. "That I don't know how to help you with.. Maybe you can get my mom to bring Zane over and he can sleep next to you." He offered thinking about his mother's goldendoodle.
Grace nodded. "I know you will. Thanks Wyatt." She said softly and kissed his cheek. "What about your sister? Shouldn't she be awake right now?" She asked, realizing hat the little girl had been asleep the whole time she had been there. Grace loved playing with the little girl and just sitting with her. They always had the funniest conversations.
He smiled at her and slipped his arm around her a little bit with a grin. "You're welcome," he answered hugging her. He looked around and towards his door," well I don't know she had just gone to sleep when you got here and I did kind of chase her around the backyard for a few hours so... She's probably still passed out." Wyatt answered... "You can go check on Kayla if you want though."
Brody nodded, relaxing a little now that she had finally agreed. It wasn't over yet, not by a long shot, but this was the hardest part. "Thank you, Jo. You'll be okay, I promise." he murmured and got a few tissues for her. "I'm supposed to go to work soon, but I can stay here with you if you want. They won't mind if I call in." he said softly, afraid of what she might do if he left her alone. Plus, Allen could decide to randomly show up, and he definitely didn't want that.
Joelle nodded a little bit and wiped up her face a little bit after he gave her the tissues. "No Brody I can ask you to call off work.. I should be fine here for a little while." She said softly pulling at the ends of her sleeves a little bit and avoiding his eyes. If Allen showed up she wouldn't be able to tell him no or be able to make him leave her alone as go away
Sofia sighed. "It's not so much me I'm worried about, Jake. I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself." she said softly, looking down at her stomach and cradling her baby gently. Of course she wanted Jake to be with her through her first pregnancy and she would miss him terribly when he was gone, but what she really wanted was for him to see the birth of their first child and for him to be present in the first few months of their son's life. She laughed with him at the thought of a big doll that looked like Jake. She doubt any doll could ever be as handsome as he was, though. "Hm, I might have to think about that. I would feel safer with the dog here, rather than being in the house by myself." she said thoughtfully and looked up at Jake, trying to memorize every part of him. "I love you too, baby. So, so much." she whispered, kissing his jaw gently.
Grace nodded and leaned into him when he wrapped his arm around her. "Oh okay, I just thought she had been asleep for longer than usual." she said and shrugged, sighing. "I think I will go check on her, though. I'd like to say goodbye before I leave." she admitted and reluctantly moved from Wyatt to stand up, stretching a little. It would be better to go home and get this over with than stay here and think about having to do it all night.
Jake smiled and nodded," There now you will have someone in the house with you... Zane could stay here mom has Hero to train too so it wouldn't be a problem for her I don't think." He said elderly and thoughtfully. He kissed her softly," I love you more." He said holding her close and then kissing the top of her stomach," I love you too little mister." He told Kaden with a small grin. He would give anything to see Kaden when he was born but he didn't want to think of that right then
Brody took the pizza out of the oven, shaking his head. He really didn't like the idea of her being here alone, especially now that she had decided to get help. "I don't know, Joelle. I don't feel right leaving you here." he admitted, slicing the pizza and placing a few slices for each of them on a plate before sitting down next to her at the island. "You could come hang out at the restaurant for a while while I work, if you want." he suggested. "I shouldn't be there too long, it shouldn't busy tonight." He took a bite of the pizza as he thought about it. "I say either that or I stay with you. You decide."
Wyatt shook his head a little bit," nope just had quality big brother time."He answered with a soft chuckle," Alright go check on your favorite little girl." He replied grinning at her. "But I better get a goodbye too." He complained as he watched her stretch. Right then he really couldn't take his eyes off her hoping that this wasn't some dream
Where he would wake up and realize he didn't actually tell Grace about his feelings for her
Joelle watched Brody take the pizza out of re oven and then serve the two I them. She sighed a little bit,"I'm not a baby I can take care of myself sort of." She replied blowing on her pizza a little bit," won't you get I to trouble for having me hanging around while you work?"'she asked," I don't want you in trouble... What if I just lock up my house and not let anyone in until you get back here?" She asked looking at him
Sofia rolled her eyes. "Oh, don't start with that. You know I love you more. How else could I put up with you?" she teased, kissing him again lovingly. She giggled when she felt a sudden burst of movement inside her. "He loves you too, daddy." she said softly and took his hands, placing them on either side of her belly. "Can you feel him?" she wondered. He wasn't moving as much, but she could still feel him kicking a little. She pressed down on one side of her stomach, and it was much harder there than anywhere else. "See, he's right here." she said softly and looked up at Jake, her eyes full of love for their little Kaden.
Grace smiled down at him. "Good. I'm glad she had some time like that. She has a great big brother." she said happily and leaned down to plant a lingering kiss on his lips, not wanting to leave yet. She pulled away with a huge grin and walked out of the room without saying anything else, just giving him a teasing smile as she walked through the door. There. Something to remember me by. she thought to herself playfully. She made her way to Kayla's room and slowly opened the door, peeking inside. "Kayla, sweetie, are you awake?" she asked- loud enough to be heard but not enough to wake the little girl up if she was sleeping.
Brody sighed, still not sure. He didn't want her to feel like she was being told what to do, but he also couldn't leave her in a position where she could get hurt again. "I wouldn't get in trouble. You're there enough that they know who you are and wouldn't mind having you around." he explained, biting into his pizza even though it was still too hot. "I guess it would be okay if you made sure nobody knew you were home, but I would still feel better if I was with you." he said softly, looking at her with concern. "I can't tell you what to do though, Jo."
Jake grinned," I wasn't going to start anything I just wanted to make sure you could still smile." He replied kissing her back gently and then smiling at her giggling as she grabbed his hands and pressed them into her stomach. He grinned," he better love me." He answered then nodded," Yeah I feel him." Jake muttered gently rubbing the spot she had his hand. He looked back at Sofia with a big smile on his face. " I wish he was here right now" he whispered
Wyatt smiled a little bit," I'm glad you think so." He answered with a grin as he kissed her back wanting her to stay there with him. He sighed softly as he watched her walk out of his room. Wyatt laid back on his bed and stared at the ceiling as he waited for Grace to come back to him. He smiled a little to himself as he thought about how much he had dreamed and wished he could just tell Grace how he felt and now they had and it made him happy but the situation they were in was going to be a difficult one. Kayla looked sleepily at the door as she woke up. "Cie!" She called sleepily with a smile. Being only three she couldn't talk as well as everyone else and had to really try to make people under understand what was going on and what she wanted
Joelle looked at him as she waited for her pizza to cool down some more. She sighed a little and got up to get a drink and the banana peppers out of the fridge. "Well I don't see how people wouldn't think I'm home my car is out front" she said softly going back to set her stuff down. " I don't know Brody. I don't want to be in the way and besides I'd be bored sitting there while you work and I do nothing." She answered looking at him then asking," Do you want something to drink or anything?" Joelle wasn't sure what to do right then.. She really just wanted to stay away from everyone but the fact that Brody was so worried about her being alone was enough to make her consider going to work with him.
Sofia glanced up from gazing adoringly at her stomach to smile t Jake. "I know you do. I kind of hope he stays in there until he is supposed to, though." she admitted with a small sigh, She knew that many firstborns came early, and that made her nervous. "He is safe and happy and growing while he's in here." she said softly and drew a fingertip across her stomach, stroking it gently. "Once he gets here, I don't know how god I'll be at keeping him that way." she admitted softly, looking worried. "I've never done this before. How am I supposed to know how to make him happy and keep him safe?" she murmured softly. "I can't wait to meet the baby, but I'll gladly endure and extra few weeks to keep him in there." she said softly.
Grace smiled at the little girl, stepping into the room but leaving the light off. "Hey there, Kay!" she said softly and sat on the edge of Kayla's toddler bed, gently smoothing some hair off of her forehead. "I just wanted to come see you before I have to say goodbye. You've been sleeping a long time!" she said and playfully touched the tip of her nose. "Did you have a good nap?" she asked, a small smile still on her face. She could almost forget the seriousness of the news she had learned today when she was so happy here with Wyatt and his little sister. They made her feel loved and needed, despite what she was going through.
"Yes, please. I'll just have some water." Brody answered, stealing one of her banana peppers and popping it into his mouth. "I could drive your car to work if you really wanted to stay here." he suggested. "You would just have to make sure you couldn't see any lights on in the house from the outside." he said and shrugged, biting into his pizza again. "Wow, that's really hot." he mused when it burned his mouth, but just took another bite anyway.
Jake nodded a little bit and shrugged slightly," I don't know Sof... I've never done this either so I don't know what to tell you in that part." He said softly, "but I do know that you are good at taking care of me when I'm sick so you will be fine." He told her softly kissing her head," don't worry about it though everything will work out and we will meet Kaden when he is good and ready to come see us." He said. " then I'll be home soon to take care of both of you." He replied
Kayla looked up at her and curled up around her stuffed penguin and smiled. "Ohhh you tay?" She asked then frowned as she said se had to leave," But you not pay wif me Cie." She said though giggled at the touch of her nose. "I seep good." She answered yawning. "Whewe Y at?" She asked looking up at the older girl with big brown eyes
Sofia smiled at Jake, hugging him tightly. "You're right. It's just scary to know that we will be responsible for this tiny, helpless little human whenever he decides to come." she said softly and snuggled into his side, yawning. "But I'm sure Kaden will teach me how to be a mommy very quickly." she teased and laughed, closing her eyes as she took a deep breath of Jake. "Maybe we should just take a little nap." she murmured against his shirt. She didn't really want to, but she didn't want to be tired for the rest of the night either. "You can put on a movie or something if you want."
