Joelle nodded a little bit and sighed slightly," Well I am just here with you." She replied grinning at him. " just don't worry about me too much I'm alright." She told him slipping her arms around his and hugging his arm against her side a little bit as they watched the cartoon together. Joelle just let the silence and the hum of the tv relax her enough to let the careful mask she put on with Brody to fall adage slowly fell asleep next to him

Jake chuckled softly and kissed the side of her head," yeah I know but I still want you to be careful." He replied as he walked into the store after her. He followed her to the case and looked at the different rings not really seeing one that jumped out at him as something he would wear for the rest of his life. He slipped his arms around her and shook his head," Nope those are not something for me at all." He replied looking at her then the case of rings again
"Hopefully nothing else is in store for us today." She corrected him and laughed a little. She bit her lip as she listened to him, holding back tears at the emotion in his voice. "Well you won't have to imagine me being sick much longer, I'm afraid. It's going to happen. But we will get through it, and you will never have k wrap me up in bubble wrap.@ she told him and give a small laugh. Her breath caught when he leaned into her hand, her eyes searching the face that was so dear to her. She had loved Wyatt since the first day they met, but she valued his friendship too much to risk losing it if he didn't return her feelings. She needed him now more than ever, but she had never wanted to tell him everything more than she did right then. She carefully raised her other hand, tracing her fingertips over his drooping eyelids and, after a moments hesitation, his soft lips. "Can I stay here for a little while?" She breathed, not wanting to ruin this moment. "Is like to rest a little before I have to go home and face my parents..."
Brody watched Joelle as she slowly fell asleep against his side. When she was finally breathing evenly, he pulled a blanket over her and gently pulled her closer to him. He was pretty sure he knew where those bruises had come from- her deadbeat boyfriend. He didn't know why she stayed with him, or what she had seen in him in the first place. But he would kill that man if he ever saw him lay a hand on Joelle. He had never tried to make a pass at her romantically, but he cared deeply for his best friend. She didn't deserve this.
Sofia leaned against her fiancee, feeling completely safe and happy in his arms. "That's what I thought. Let's just move on then." she said lightly and walked over to the next case. These ones were more classic and simple. She smiled as she slowly scanned the rings. "What about something like this?" she asked, touching a simple silver band with a wavy line etched through the middle of the whole ring. Above the line, the silver was shiny and spotless, but below it was more opaque and cloudy. It reminded her of Jake- he too had two different sides to him; he was kind and loving toward her and his family, but he was ruthless as a soldier.
"Okay well I am not going to argue with you no that one." He said with a soft grin. As he listened to her he shook his head slightly." I guess I always just want you to be the Gracie I always know." He said letting his eyes close even more as she traced her fingers over his face. He didn't think he loved Gracie until they were in middle school together bit now he really couldn't deny the fact that he loved her and just wanted to be around her no matter what happened this summer. He didn't want her upset or sick but the sick part he couldn't help but keeping her happy that was something he could do. He opened his eyes again as her fingers rested on his lips," you can stay here however long you like and whenever you want to." Wyatt replied softly
Joelle would have never fallen asleep next to Allen all sh did was worry when the next time he would start beating her up. This however was different no matter what she was feeling or even what Brody was feeling she felt more safe with him. She sighed softly and reached to hold on to his shirt as he brought her closer to him. Normally she didn't talk or anything in her sleep but instead today she was dreaming about finally telling Brody everything. From the fact that Allen had started hitting her ad pressuring her into things from the beginnings of their relationship to the fact that she honestly loved her best friend not that she would ever tell him that in real life. " Brody what do I do?" She mumbled as she slept
Jake nodded as followed after her," Okay then." He looked at the different rings in this new case and nodded," Now there's something that I will wear." He teased her softly resting his chin on her shoulder. He nodded," I like that one." He said softly. Then pointed to another," what about this one." He said it was like the one she was pointing to but this one the wave thru the middle was colored in a dark blue color. "I like them both." He said kissing her neck softly
"Oh I'll always be me, Wyatt. Don't you worry about that." Grace said with a playful wink, letting her hands fall from his face and into her lap. "Thank you, Wyatt. That means a lot to me." she said honestly and leaned forward to wrap her arms around his neck, giving him a tight hug. "Would it be okay if I just took a quick nap? I really am tired, and I don't want to have to put up with my parents while I just want to sleep." she admitted with a sigh. They both knew how strict and difficult her parents were. She had no clue how they would react to this news.
Brody's heart broke at the words coming from her mouth. He wished he could help her, tell her what to do. But he had no clue what she should do- she wouldn't even tell him what was going on. "Talk to me, Jo. That's what you should do. I'll take care of you." he murmured, though he knew she wouldn't hear him. He carefully reached his arm around to hold her as she slept, hopefully making her feel safe so she could sleep more soundly.
Wyatt chuckled softly as nodded," Good I don't have to deal with some other side of you I don't know yet." He teased her. He grinned and hugged her to him tightly," Yeah you can take a nap here do you want to sleep in my room or the guest room?" He offered scooping her up playfully but really he just sent want to let her go yet. " would you like me to go to your house and sit with you while you talk to your parents?" He asked as he walked up the stairs with her
Joelle sighed softly and curled more into him once his arm was around her. She heard his voice and mumbled a few things that didn't make since. But if you listen closely you could guess what she was saying pieces together. Some of the words she mumbled were Allen, hurt, hit, rough and other things that Allen often did to her. She sighed softly and breathed in Brody's familiar scent
Sofia smiled brightly. "I like both of them too. But I think I like the blue one better." She said and asked the attendant for one in his size. She liked that they had both picked it out, not just her. "I could get a little blue in mine to match yours, if we found one we like." She suggested and shrugged a little. "Do you like it enough to get it?" She wondered, turning the ring over in her fingers.
Jake nodded a little bit," I like the blue one better too." He said as he slipped the one the attendant brought to them. He looked at Sophia and put the ring in her hand. "We could if we find one if not that's okay too." He replied watching her. "Yeah I like it enough to get it." He answered. "Let's look for one for you and then decide which of the rings I get. Because I do kind of want our rings to match at least a little bit." He said softly
Grace stuck her tongue out at him playfully. "Every side of me is fabulous, even the ones you don't know yet." she teased and laughed loudly when he picked her up, wrapping her arms around his neck. "I don't care where I sleep. Wherever you want to put me is fine." she assured him. She had been in Wyatt's room plenty of times and had occasionally fallen asleep on top of the covers on his bed accidentally, but she had never actually gone to sleep in his bed- it was a line they hadn't crossed quite yet, but she found the thought appealing anyway. "And I think I should talk to them alone. Thank you, though." she said softly. As much as she wanted Wyatt there for support, she was going to have to do some things on her own.
Brody shook his head, rubbing her back gently. He forced himself not to get angry- to just let it go for now. "Shhh, it's okay. It's just me here now." he murmured into her hair, selfishly relishing this time spent so close to her. He loved these moments- when she was unguarded and just let him be close. He knew she would wake up eventually and be somebody else's, but for right now she was his and he wouldn't waste any second of it.
Sofia nodded. "Okay, that makes sense." she said and led him over to the ladies wedding bands. "I don't want something very flashy either. I like my engagement ring too much to take away from it." she said honestly, moving her hand from the small of his back to his shoulder absent-mindedly. "I was thinking just a simple band of diamonds. I'm sure there is one with a few blue stones if that's what we want." she said thoughtfully.
He laughed and hugged we close to him," okay well we will see about that one when I meet the other aides of you." He teased her as he set her down in his bed. "Well you can sleep here and I will just watch tv quietly." He told her with a soft smile. He decided not to just make her sleep in his room just so he could keep an eye on her not that she needed watching he just wanted her close to him," okay well just tell me if you need me."
Joelle's body relaxed against his and sighed softly snuggling close to him. She just let herself sleep for a little while. After two hours she woke up with Brody's arms around her. She stretched a little bit and slipped her arms around him as she slowly woke up. "Brody?" She breathed looking up at him thinking she was still dreaming she reached up as gently placed her fingers on his cheek
Jake nodded a little bit as he looked at the different rings with her. "Well I think that's a good idea." He said looking at the different rings they had. " what about this one Soph?" He asked pointing to one that had dark ad light blue stones with some diamonds mixed in. "That's nice and it would go with the one we like." He said almost touching her without thinking about it
Grace bit her lip and nodded, sitting up in his bed. "Okay. Thank you so much, Wyatt." she said softly and gave his hand a squeeze. She almost asked him to stay with her, but she didn't want to push it. He was being so sweet as it was. "I appreciate everything you're doing. You know that, right?" she asked as she slipped lower onto the bed, resting her head on her arm on the pillow and blinking up at him.
Brody jumped a little, surprised out of his own light sleep. "Mh, yep. None other." he teased softly and gave her a sleepy smile, keeping his arms wrapped around her. "Did you have a nice nap?" he asked softly, taking a deep breath to calm himself after her fingers left goosebumps running down his neck.
Wyatt nodded a little bit and smiled," I know but don't worry about it."He said sitting down in his bean bag he had had since they were both really little. He turned his tv on and turned it down." Go to sleep Gracie." He told her reaching over and touching her head softly
Sofia's eyes lit up as she spotted the ring. It matched his perfectly, and was the simple beautiful that was exactly what she was looking for. "It's perfect, Jake. That's the one I want." she said with conviction and smiled up at him excitedly. She told the attendant which two they wanted and what sizes, and she came up with the price for both of them. She lingered behind Jake as he paid for them, running her hands under her stomach lightly. Little Kaden was definitely not going to give her a break today, it seemed like.
Joelle's eyes widened a little bit." Sorry I didnt mean to wake you." She said softly looking up at him. "Yeah I had a good sleep." She answered hugging him a little bit," do you want to go back to sleep?" She asked slipping her hand down his chest and then rested her hand back on her side
Grace's lips curved into a smile, her eyes already closing. "Okay." she murmured, but caught his hand before he could pull it away, twisting her fingers through his. She didn't care that this wasn't what friends were supposed to do. Wyatt was her best friend, and she loved him more than anything. Maybe she didn't have much time left; make it was time he knew how she felt about him. He was always there for her and she was always there to support him as well- it wouldn't be hard to take the next step... She fell asleep daydreaming of being with Wyatt, of holding his hand whenever she wanted and finally kissing those soft lips..
Brody's breath hitched as her hand touched his chest, forcing himself not to react. He cleared his throat a little and shook his head. "No, I don't want to go back to sleep. I was just sleeping because you were, and the movie ended." he admitted and chuckled a little. "It was nice, though." he added softly.
Jake smiled a little bit and nodded," I like that one and look it's both of our birthstones too." He said with a grin. He would never get enough of seeing her so happy and excited about their life together. He paid for their rings and turned to look at her," Alright now where to?" He asked handing her the receipt. Jake looked at her," What's kaden doing now?" He asked
"Mmm, he's just doing flips or practicing his soccer kicks or something, I'm not sure." Sofia answered and laughed a little, planting a loving kiss on his lips. She took the receipt and shrugged. "We could go home and relax for a little while to get out of the heat." she suggested. "I'm sure you still have some packing to do. We can figure out what to do after that."
Wyatt smiled and moved closer to her side as she held his hand while she slept. He didn't mind the fact that she had wanted to hold his hand. He thought that maybe he should tell her how he felt about her. He sighed softly and watched her as she slept in his bed. That was something he didn't think he would ever see
Joelle nodded a little bit and wrapped her arms around herself looking up at him," ohh okay then... I didn't mean to fall asleep on you I didn't realize how tired I was."She told him feeling like she was pushing him away again but that's how she thought it needed to be. If Allen saw her now she would surely end up getting hurt.
Grace slept surprisingly well for being so worried about talking to her parents and what was going to happen in the future. She had always wondered what it would feel like to sleep in Wyatt's bed. Of course, she had always imagined he would be in it with her, but this was great as well. She slept on her side, facing the side of the bed Wyatt was seated near. She felt safe and comfortable here, which is more than she felt at home. She slept soundly for about an hour and a half before stirring in the bed, her eyelids fluttering but remaining closed as she inhaled the familiar scent of Wyatt's room.
Jake nodded and slipped his arms around her a little bit," Ohh." He answered kissing her back softly then tapped the top of her stomach softly," Kaden... I thought I told you to be nice to your mommy." He told him softly. He nodded," okay home it is to get this princess out of the heat." He said kissing her cheek softly and slipping his arm around her shoulders," Not really but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to look over everything."
Wyatt just quietly watched his tv not really seeing what was on it bit day dreaming about what would happen if he just told grace everything he ever felt for her. He sighed softly running his thumb over the back of her hand as she slept. He didn't mind just being next to her and bringing her comfort by just sitting next to her
Brody sighed and let her go, rubbing his palms over his jeans. "It's okay, Joelle. You're allowed to fall asleep in your own house." he teased and sighed, stretching his arms out. "Are you hungry? I could make us something before I have to leave for work." he suggested, looking over at her with both hope and sadness in his eyes.
Joelle looked at him and nodded with a small smile," yeah I guess being able to sleep in my own house would be a good thing." She replied. "Ohh I think that sounds like a good idea to me... What are you going to make?" Se asked glancing at the time for a second
Sofia laughed softly, gasping a little when the baby gave a bigger kick inside her. "I don't think he understands you, love. But he sure does like hearing your voice." she noticed and smiled up at Jake, her face full of happiness and warmth despite her discomfort. "And I am not a princess." she pouted, pushing his arm playfully as they walked back to the car. "It's just really hot out here." she defended, getting back into the car and turning up the AC.
Grace slowly blinked her eyes open, pulling her hand from his as she stretched languidly. "Mh, good morning." she murmured groggily and smiled at Wyatt, laying her head back on the pillow. "Did you sit there the whole time?" she wondered, glancing away when she noticed him looking at her. It was hard to shake the thoughts of him that were plaguing her mind.
Jake chuckled softly," he's supposed to like me I'm his dad." He replied looking at her. He would seriously miss her smiling and loving ways when he would leave that night. He chuckled softly as he walked back to the car with her." I meant that in a nice way." He answered as he watched her turn the ac up." I'm not complaining able it."
Wyatt refocused on her face as she pulled her hand away from his and stretched. He nodded," Good morning."He answered with a smile. "Yeah I stayed here why wouldn't I have stayed here with you?" He asked looking at her with a crooked smile he always gave her. "What's in your mind?" He asked leaning closer to her as she stayed laying in his bed. She was adorable when she first woke up
Brody shrugged. "I'm not sure. What kind of food do you have?" he asked, getting up from the couch to walk to the kitchen. "I was thinking maybe a pizza, or maybe some kind of pasta..." he shrugged again and chuckled. "What are you in the mood for?"Sofia laughed a little and winked at him. "Good, because I might be a princess." she teased, looking at the window as he drove them home. "I just think it's crazy that he already recognizes our voices." she said thoughtfully, smiling to herself. "He's not even born yet, and he already knows who his parents are." she mused and shook her head in disbelief. "It's amazing."
Grace shrugged, her eyes drooping again slightly. "I don't know. I'm sure you could have found something more interesting to do while I slept." she said softly, opening her eyes again to look at him. What was she thinking about? A lot of things he didn't want to hear. "You are." she answered quietly, her cheeks turning pink as she glanced away from him. She focused on the TV, though she wasn't sure what was playing on it.
Joelle nodded a little bit and got up to follow him into the kitchen, "I don't know what I have right now I need to go out and shop for some more food." she answered, "Although pizza sounds pretty good to me." she replied looking at him.Jake chuckled softly as he drove them home, "You are a princess to me." he told her as he drove them home. "Of course he knows us he can hear us talking to him and to each other and all the stuff that goes on with all of us." he answered looking at her as they were stopped at a light. "I know it is pretty amazing that he at least sort of knows who we are and we've never seen him yet." he commented pulling into the driveway of their small house.
Wyatt shrugged, "I suppose I could have but I didn't really want to at the moment and really it was just kind of nice to relax for a little bit." He said looking at her with a small smile on his face as he looked at her. "Me? Why am I on your mind?" he asked her
Brody gave we a playful smile and winked. "Pizza it is, then. What toppings do you want?" He asked, turning his back to her. H grabbed her apron from inside the pantry door, tying it around herself before tensing around, holding his hands out in front of him and nodding, a goofy grin on his face. "I think t suits me, don't you?" He traded, pulling out the bag of flower from a cupboard."I'm so glad, though." Sofia said softly, waiting for him this one to try and get out of the car. "At least he will have something of you to remember until you come back." She said softly, the smile slipping from her face. It made her so sad to think that their baby boy would grow up without his father for the first few months of his life. She held her hand out when he came around to her door. "At least you won't be ere to see me become a huge fat whale." She admitted and laughed a little, using her keys to unlock the door to their cozy home.
Grace shrugged, her cheeks getting redder by the second. "I don't know. You're just kind of amazing." She said softly and managed to meet his eyes for a few moments. She glanced away again shyly, pulling his soft comforter closer around her body. "I've never been grateful enough for you, Wyatt. I'm so lucky to have someone like you in my life." She said softly, biting on her lip with uncertainty.
Joelle just shrugged and sat at the island watching him," Ohhh umm pepperoni and that's it for me." She answered giggling softly as he went into her pantry and put on her apron. "Awwww you are so cute." She said looking at him and nodding," You should keep it and show your girlfriend how adorable you are when you are cooking." She teased him.
Jake nodded slightly as he looked over at her," yes that is true.. But I'll see him when I Skype you... I just won't be here to hold him." He answered softly as he walked around to help her out of the car. He hugged her gently once she was standing up," don't be sad okay?" He asked following her up to the door. "Okay so you go lay down while I make sure I have everything and then we can watch a movie or something."
Wyatt looked at her," Me amazing?" He asked," that's a new one." He said softly looking at her with a gentle expression. "You never blush around me." He said softly touching her cheek lightly even though she was looking away from him. "You don't need to be grateful for me I'll always be around to annoy you and make you happy." Wyatt told her softly leaning a little closer to her
Brody rolled his eyes, getting out a spoon to spread the sauce onto the pizza. "I broke up with that girl a week ago. She was way too clingy and boring." He told her and shrugged. "Plus, I'm adorable all the time. This apron is just a bonus." He teased and winked at her again playfully, sprinkling some cheese over the sauce.
Sofia gave him a small smile. "I'm trying not to be sad, love." She told him honestly and kissed his cheek. It was hard not to be, though, when the two people she loved most - her unborn son and his father- would be hurt over something that she had no control over. She nodded to his suggestion and headed to their bedroom, gratefully climbing into the soft bed. Their house was modest and small, but she loved it anyway. It they were happy here, and they couldn't afford a bigger place right now anyway.
Grace rolled her eyes. "Yes, Wyatt. You're amazing." She repeated, playful but serious at the same time. "You're so kind and nurturing and strong, and you're just always there- like you just said. Your annoy me sometimes, but it's endearing most of the time." She said and laughed a little, finally looking into his gentle eyes. "You always put up with me and never ask for anything in return, and I could never have asked for a better friend." She said softly and moved closer to the edge of the bed. "I was just thinking...we can't just put things off until tomorrow anymore. What's the point? Who knows how long tomorrow will last? We need to cherish the things we have now before they're gone." She said passionately, her voice getting softer as she moved closer to him without realizing it. By the time she finished talking, her face was only a few inches from his. She blushed again, hesitating, hoping it was clear what she wanted to do and asking permission to do it.
