Ooop, too late. I fell asleep in the syntax.

Félix (habitseven) I guess they're like poppies.

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Whew! I just had a flash of the green wicked witch from Wizard of Oz hovering over the field of poppies where D. & the misfit 3 were running, saying (evilly of course) "Poppies... poppies..."

Although, my opinion is, that brat Dorothy deserved it for stealing her sister's shoes. ;)

message 106: by Richard (new)

Richard | 347 comments Your comment suggests, Sher, that you have already harvested your poppies.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I don't think Dorothy was the Wicked Witch of the East's sister.

message 108: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sally, be careful not to step in those metaphors over there.

message 112: by Cosmic Sher (last edited Jun 09, 2009 09:09PM) (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Yep. Whole mess 'o poppies... I likes 'em roasted with a little hint of sea salt. :D Heee! Hee-hee-hee-heeeeee!

BTW, Elphaba is the Wicked Witch of the West, Nessarose was her sister, the Wicked Witch of the East. Just for clarification.

message 113: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Sure, sure, but you said Dorothy stole her sister's shoes. Was the "her" in there not referring to Dorothy, but Nessarose?

Oh, pronouns, you tricky part of speech, you.

message 115: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Cosmic Sher seems to have misplaced a pronoun. Has anyone seen it?

message 116: by Richard (new)

Richard | 347 comments I happened upon it.

Richard | 347 comments I've started using this quaint expression in bed, too.

As in: "I'm happening!" he cried, to his wife's great joy and relief.

Leslie | 777 comments Bees are amazing.

I learned something important on Thursday. I was coughing and I couldn't stop and I had my iced tea and was drinking it from a straw. But it wasn't helping.
Doug, the man who heads our writers group, said the tannin from the tea was irritating, and that staws aireate (no idea on spelling) the drink, especially since they often are full of tiny holes so small we can't see. So he gave me a bottle of water and I stopped coughing.
So now I know--no tea, no straws when I have a coughing fit, which is not infrequent.

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Corn is a big deal.

Also, there is a Professor on campus for whom I am dying to serve as a lab slave work as an unpaid undergrad even though he specializes in mycology (microbial, though, so it's not COMPLETELY different from my interests... sort of), which I am mostly indifferent toward, because he is a man of inspiring ethics, and he gives speeches like this one. What a shame that I didn't think twice about this until now!! Why didn't I pay closer attention?! I was a freshman when they were doing that BP stuff.

Mostly I am gushing.

Science is amazing again! I mean, it was always amazing, but it can play so hard to get. Especially in the chemistries, I can find it difficult to relate to.... ANYWAY. Here is to hoping someone in his lab needs an undergrad.

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Thanks, Leslie!
I may have a shot, as long as it's for an unpaid position....

Because I also learned a little more today on exactly how significantly my school is effed, thanks to California's collapsing economy and the recent slew of budget cuts....

message 128: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 777 comments My daughter's upset too, some of her favorite teachers have to leave and go to other schools if they want to keep their jobs. It's crummy.

Usako (bbmeltdown) I learned blood type diets are a fascinating read even though I won't practice it: http://www.dadamo.com/

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Margaritas and Margherita pizza are not related.

Félix (habitseven) Randomanthony wrote: "Margaritas and Margherita pizza are not related."

But that doesn't mean you can't have both at the same time.

message 133: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments One could theoretically make a margherita margarita. I'm not sure I'd recommend it. It might taste kind of like pizza beer, which I have not tasted.

message 134: by RandomAnthony (last edited Jun 26, 2009 11:49AM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Pizza beer is a great example of something that I imagine has a sum that is less than its proverbial parts.

I might get drunk tonight. We're doing a bonfire. I rode another twenty miles this morning and I'll probably not work out tomorrow. The stars are aligned.

message 135: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Now, pizza and beer ... okay. But pizza beer ... nah.

message 136: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I'm sure the yeast in the beer would make for great pizza crusts. In fact, I'm 99.9% positive it would make great pizza crusts.

message 137: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 158 comments When my mom bought a bread machine she made a beer bread so beer pizza crust would probably be really good.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Beer bread and cheddar cheese soup and beer soup all are more fall/winter things for me. I'm not ready.

A festival near us this weekend is doing Strawberry brats, Sally.
