You should have a look - if you can find them - to the films with Fernandel as Don Camillo and Gino Cervi as Peppone. they are of about the 1950s and really funnny!!! I think they were french

Oh thanks for the tip, yes I will look out for them . Don Camillo and Peppone have a love hate relationship....

Really typical of the Ity of the second after war period. We were a little like that, even if of course there are a lot of stereotypes there. I remember as kid another of his novels, Il destino si chiama Clotilde: Romanzo d'amore e di avventura, con una importante digressione - Duncan &Amp; Clothilda, and laughing while reading it

I loved those as a child - I am glad you are enjoying them. I don't know if they count as autobiographies or memoirs or what but they are nonfiction, which amazed me.
