I just started a book today - Callie's Tally An Accounting of Baby's First Year. I'm only about twenty pages in but it seems like it'll be a cute story.

I LOVE Meg Cabot. That series is really great. I think email format makes it a much faster read.

Courtney (chamilton12) | 136 comments I'm reading The Beach House by Jane Green. It's REALLY good so far, I'm about half way through. It's just started to pick up and all the characters are fitting together. I have an idea of what's going to happen but we'll see when I get to the end.

message 6: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) Great to now that The Beach House is a good read, because I have that on my TBR list. Cool!

I think I finally have all three books in that series now. As soon as I finish up some other series that I'm reading, I'm going to start with these.

Ooh! Are you going to post it on PBS? If so, can I call dibs? :)

message 9: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (chamilton12) | 136 comments Stacy, I let my step mom borrow it but will pick it up from her in two weeks when I see her again. I'll post it on PBS for you then, does that work?

Nadia A (bagambo) I'm ashamed to admit I am reading a YA novel called, L.A. Candy. I know! Cheesy!! But, its fun.

message 14: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Never be ashamed to admit you read YA novels!

Only be ashamed you read the one by the girl from The Hills :) :) :) I'm ashamed just knowing that information LOL!

Is it a good read Nadia?

message 15: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) Kourtney - you are sooo right. No shame in YA novels (I loved Twilight!). However, admitting to reading a book by the Hills chick is pretty bad. What can I say? I watched the show. Yikes! Anyhow, the books is funny and badly written, but I'm enjoying it :)

Tara bought that book Nadia and I plan on getting it from her when she's done reading it, so don't beat yourself up about it too much - LOL!

I just looked at that book yesterday thinking I should read it. But I've got so many going at once right now I decided to leave it in the stack.

I just got Au Paris and Pug Hill in the mail today.

message 18: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) Thanks Stacy! I have to admit that I am digging the books so far. Its just a fun read, plus I like trying to figure out which book character is which Hills character.

message 19: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
I've never watched The Hills so I won't be able to do that but Tara gave me a quick synopsis of it when she bought it because she thought I'd probably like it and she was right, it does sound good.

message 20: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) It is good Stacy! My sister keeps making fun of me because she thinks its so badly written, but I don't think its that bad. It is what it is. I swear those Hills girls are everywhere though. I just watched an episode of Dress My Nest on that style channel and they were dressing Audrina's nest (she is the brunette on the show).

Don't feel bad. I'm a Lauren Conrad fan. I love The Hills. I knew her book was coming out and I bought it the day that it did.

message 22: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) Thanks Tara! Glad there is another LC fan in the group. I think it rots that they are going to continue The Hills without her and that they got Kristin as her replacement. Crazy!

message 23: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) I finally finished L.A. Candy. The show is better than the book.

So I got an email from the library yesterday saying they had a copy of Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich on hold for me!! Of course, I ran there as soon as I could to pick it up. Everything else was put on hold and I read over 100 pages of it last night! I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!! I can't help but laugh out loud while reading it. Lula is hilarious!

Ok, so I think I might have mentioned before that aside from my book obsession, I also have a shoe obsession.
So last week, I was on www.smartbargains.com (Really great website!) and ordered two pairs of shoes. Sadly, when I tried them on, they didn't fit as my feet were too wide for them. (I hate my feet sometimes, they are wider than normal at the widest part of the foot and my heel is skinnier than normal. Hard to find shoes that fit properly!! UGH!) So, with a tear in my eye, I boxed them back up and sent them back for a refund.
So today, as I'm fighting boredom at work, I got my usual email from Rue-La-La inviting me to take a peek that the boutiques that opened today. "Sure," I thought, it's not like I have anything else to do here at work.
Anyway, I went browsing through all the boutiques they have open right now and lo and behold found the cutes pair of Hale Bob shoes for $40! (Normally over $100 I think.) So I whipped out my debit card faster than you can say, "Platforms!" I am now as happy as I was when I ordered the other ones (hopefully these will fit) and I expect them to be delivered into my hot little hands by next Tuesday! Whereupon I will have to sneak them home. (TARA! If you're reading this...NOT A WORD to Barry! LOL!)
I wish I knew how to put pictures on here (if it's even a possibility)!

Good idea Alicia with the whole "random"ness thing. I'm going to follow suit.

Here's a piece of advice. If any of you ever buy or recieve a ring that has an invisible setting for the stones - DO NOT try to have it sized!!!! Order it IN your size. Apparently due to the type of setting, if you do anything to it the stones will fall out!!! I learned this the hard way this week with my engagement ring. I tried to have a guy that I know in the mall resize my ring because I wanted instant gratification and didn't want to wait two weeks for it to get sent out and sent back. His wife dropped it and three diamonds fell out! I was almost in tears over the whole thing but I kept it together. Now my bf has to take it back to where he got it (he won't tell me where) and tell them that I dropped it and the stones fell out and order a new one in my size. :(

I got a book in the mail today from BM. It came from a lady in Pennsylvania and it's one that's been on my wish list for a while and just popped up last week. (Yes Tara, it's the one you let me use the internet on your phone to get when we couldn't get into BM at work - so again, THANK YOU!)
Anyway, I was reading the back of it tonight where it was talking about the author and it turns out she's from Three Rivers, MI which is only about 20 mins south of where I live. I drive through there every other weekend on my way to my mom's house and I used to live in the town just south of it and went to TR to go shopping all the time. Sometimes it really is a small world.
Oh yeah, the book is Fat Girls and Lawn Chairs and I had to have it because of the title and I loved the cover!

I am reading Boy Meets Girl and The Art of French Kissing right now.
I'm not very far into French Kissing, but Boy Meets Girl is really cute. I like this series. I love how it's a series but the main characters aren't the same and only have small parts in it and how everything ties together so well with who knows who and whatnot.
I'm impatiently waiting for my copy of Best Friends Forever A Novel to come in at the library. I'm next in line for it and it was due back on Tuesday. Last I checked yesterday, the person STILL hadn't turned it back in. I hate it when people don't return books on time! Especially if they know other people want the book! I should also be getting Hope in a Jar within the next week too. Both books have a two week limit on them. I'm going to have to do some serious reading!

message 39: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (diva2416) | 819 comments Best Friends Forever and Hope in a Jar are very similiar but both VERY good. I read them both in a row. I love Jennifer Weiner.

Looks like that's what I'm going to be doing too. I'm glad to hear that you liked them. Are they easy reads then?

I finished Boy Meets Girl today which put me at the end of my personal challenge to read 55 books this year. Not bad if I do say so myself. It'll be interesting to see how many I end up reading by the end of the year.
Tara, I know you've finished the same challenge - has anyone else challenged themselves to read a certain number of books in a specific period of time?

message 41: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments I had aimed to read at least 50 books this year and I well passed my goal. So far I have read 67 books this year and have about 20 pages left on my 68th! One of the agents I work with was making fun of me for how much I read on my weekend job - he was saying how he noticed that I have a different book every day I am there :)

message 42: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joelizrado) | 95 comments Kourtney, What do you do? Are they hiring :) I need a job like that

message 43: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Joanne - during the week I work in human resources (so no time to read there!). I needed extra money so I began to look for a weekend job. I'm limited in experience (never worked in for a restaurant/fast food or retail) - all I have done is admin/office work! So I looked for a receptionist position and lo and behold here I am working for a real estate company (I did the same job back when I was in college).

It's actually pretty easy to find jobs like this one because real estate companies are ALWAYS hiring since people hate giving up their weekends for so long. I always checked craigslist faithfully since that is where they all advertise :) :) :) Good luck!

And PS - the pay is not that great. I make half of what I make with my real job!! But money is money :)

Wow Kourtney! Do you usually read that many in a year? This year is the first year I've really kept track of what I'm reading. I've put up book shelves for my "read" books and tried to put them in the correct year that I think I read them. So far, I've read more this year than the previous three - unless I've forgotten some.

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
Now I'm on to the third book in the "boy" series. As soon as I finish this, I'll be able to add 25 more points to my challenge. Yea! :)

Still no word from the library about that overdue book that I'm waiting on. It's almost been a week - that person is going to have a pretty hefty fine before too long!

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Stacy - I don't think I have read that many books in a year. This is the first year I'm not in school and am working as much as I do causing me to read more. And it's the first year that I've kept track. Now I'm up to 69 books this year!!

message 50: by Kourtney (new)
