Chrissie Well, here is a dissenting review of the oh so popular The Enchanted. Do you hear my annoyance? Good!

My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Petra, I am NOT at all mad you suggested this to me, but neither can I pretend I liked it. At least I know this now.

Petra, don't worry about it. At least now I know. So you looked at the horse that way! Hmmm. You thought that (view spoiler)

The timing could be imagination on his part. That seemed more likely than horses underground....and something I can relate to because I sometimes mix up time, too, when recalling events. :D

Petra | 3324 comments I finished reading London Under: The Secret History Beneath the Streets last night. Although it had some interesting chapters, in all, I found the book lacking in depth. I'll read more by this author but this book needed more time and detail to bring out the best of the Underground.

Finished a couple of days ago A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, a novel I think really something special.
A very long one, but so "enthrilling" that you read it without effort - even if describing tragic happenings, and a terrible attitude toward life in general.
If you are not scared by lengh, READ IT!

message 11714: by Chrissie (new)

message 11718: by PattyMacDotComma (new)

PattyMacDotComma A God in Ruins by Kate Atkinson is another mind-twisting 'family history' that takes place during, between, and after World Wars One and Two.

Is it important to read the entire The Raj Quartet before this? The one you read draws my attention more.I have only read the first - The Jewel in the Crown.
