I might be. I want to try the Stephen Fry version of the audio books. I think I have someone I can borrow them from.

I really liked the Jim Dale ones though. It would be interesting to compare the two.

message 252: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) I'm always up for Harry Potter. I've been reading the Tor HP reread posts so now I kind of wanna do if too.

message 253: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt | 629 comments I'm game for a HP reread.

message 254: by Sumant (new)

Sumant | 522 comments I'm missing Hogwarts.

Although i have read the the whole series twice, but i am still in :D.

message 255: by Linette (new)

Linette | 135 comments I might join your HP reread.

message 256: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments I'm in for HP reread. Can we do Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages also? I have both but havn't got around to them yet. I think they are both around 50 pages.

Also does the Lord of the Rings read include The Hobbit?

I have that audio book too, so I would consider it. But S&L read that 12/12 so I've read that more recently than LotR books which I haven't done since college.

message 258: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments I'd join in a HP re-read also - it has been awhile since I've read them.

You can if you want to, but I won't be able to make a real commitment until late summer/early fall most likely.

message 260: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Both. I'm tied up for months right now apart from what's already on the club's schedule. Plus we're supposed to do a LotR re-read at some point too.

But if you all find a time a works for you, go for it. I just re-read it not too long ago so if I miss out It's not a big deal. I can make a section for it and add the books with whatever dates you decide on.

message 261: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) I vote September 1st as well. Great suggestion, Alex!

message 262: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Hmm. I missed your Sept 1st suggestion. That's probably good for me too actually. I'll just work the LotR read around that and whatever else may be coming out this fall.

message 263: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments September 1st sounds great! I need to quit my job and just read...if only.

The coming months are going to be great LOTR plus HP yay!!, also I am loving Way of kings I think it is one of the best books I have read so far.

Alright. I'll add Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for Sept 1. Are people wanting to read them all back to back. If so, how much time for each?

1 week each for 1&2, 2 weeks each for the rest?

I think that makes sense. The first two are very quick reads.

message 267: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) That sounds good. I fly through HP. Can't put them down.

message 268: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) Is anyone else reading Half a King when it comes out? Release date is July 15.

message 269: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
I'll be reading it, but probably not when it comes out.

Won't know until it gets closer.

message 270: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments I hope to if nothing else comes up.

message 271: by Jake (new)

Jake m (atticus55) | 76 comments I'd be down.

message 272: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) Do you guys want to discuss it here?

message 273: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm definitely in on Half a King.

message 274: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) Excellent! I'm pretty excited about it. I've heard a lot of good things so far (granted a lot of that is from Abercrombie retweeting stuff). The io9 excerpt was great.

message 275: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) I have Best Served Cold on my Kindle to read and The Heroes in print I have yet to read. I grew to really love him as The First Law trilogy went on.

message 276: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Ill get it on the calendar.

Its moved up my to read list after doing Honor Among Thieves, but right now I'm not sure when I'd fit in time.

message 278: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
You don't need to read it. My friend does just about every star wars book, and he told me I could skip it.

It's the only star wars book I've read and had no trouble following it. But since you're already reading it, it's moot.

message 279: by Geoff (new)

Geoff (geoffgreer) I'm really looking forward to the next Expanse series novel. Glad to set others are interested in reading it.

message 280: by Sumant (new)

Sumant | 522 comments If we gonna read First law trilogy any time in future I am in for it.

It's The Heroes for me. Everything I love about Abercrombie AND Epic Fantasy combined in one novel.

message 282: by Linette (last edited May 07, 2014 12:08AM) (new)

Linette | 135 comments I have both on my shelf waiting for me to read, I'd be up for Best Served Cold and/or The Heroes.

message 283: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Best Served Cold was good, but not great. I won't be reading it again anytime soon. I plan to do The Heroes at some point this year as I already own the ebook.

message 284: by Jake (new)

Jake m (atticus55) | 76 comments I need to try the stand alones, but Last Argument of Kings kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

message 285: by Karen (last edited May 14, 2014 06:18AM) (new)

Karen | 54 comments What about reading the new Trudi Cavanan book: Thief's Magic? It looks to be a cracking read, and I can highly recommend her other series:

The Age of Five

Priestess Of The White
Last of the Wilds
Voice Of The Gods)

Black Magician trilogy

The Magicians' Guild
The Novice
The High Lord

I listened to The Emperor's blades earlier this year and enjoyed it. I would hop in on discussion for that if people wanted to read it, but I won't read it again so soon.

I have blackbirds too, but I'm too busy to want to read it right now.

message 287: by Jake (new)

Jake m (atticus55) | 76 comments I really enjoyed The Emperor's Blades and would discuss as well. I'm still hoping this group does Blood Song.

message 288: by Orelia (new)

Orelia | 50 comments Theif's Magic sounds interesting. I'll buy it if there's going to be a group read.

David Sven (gorro) | 316 comments I still have the whole of the Black Magician Trilogy in my Audible library. I managed to collect every one from various sales over a year but haven't listened to a single one yet.

WoS was good, but I didn't care much for the sequels myself.

I think I own Black Prism. I plan to read it eventually.

Good series though. The follow up's ok, but I think the final book lets it down slightly...

Traitor Spy Trilogy (Follow up series to the Black Magician)

The Ambassador's Mission
The Rogue
The Traitor Queen

I don't have time to read thief's magic. Or at least not the whole thing. Skin Game comes out in 12 days and that is a drop everything book for me.

I can add it for you guys though.
