What was the writing process for The Casual Vacancy in comparison to that of the Harry Potter books? Would you say you had similar or different motivations/thoughts/pressures/fears/etc.?

How did your experience in writing "The Casual Vacancy" compare to writing and working on "Harry Potter". What was your goal with this story?

Who can actual say what is normal? I received this inquiry before ever having read this book and Iwonder just from reading the other questions is the character nuts or are those reacting? Depends on your point of view doesn't it.
What was you favorite part of writing The Causal Vacancy that made it different from your Harry Potter series?
You seem to really get your characters and where they are coming from. How were you able to do this; was it research, personal experience, or simply creative genius?
How much, if at all, did you have to change your writing process for The Casual Vacancy? How was it different than writing Potter?
Could you write a prequel to the Harry Potter series, about when Lord Voldemort was at the height of his power and there's James and Lily and the original Order of the Phoenix organisation? Because that would be really cool, and you could include lots of references to the Harry Potter series as well. You'd also make Potterheads globally an extremely happy fandom.
After writing Casual Vacancy, do you feel like writing another series like Harry Potter(Not that I want to extend the series by narrating about his children)? I mean, another set of awesome novels? THANKS :)
Just how much money did you have to spend before having a best seller?
Casual Vacany was an excellent book and it reflected the life of Britain so accurately. How does it feel to not be writing about Harry? Is this something you have always wanted to write about? How did you realize that you wanted to write an adult novel when you have written seven books for young adults? Was it difficult for you to change your writing styles or is this how you usually write? And did you ever feel guilty that you left the Harry Potter series and started writing another book. After writing seven books about Harry, I can imagine that he became part of your life, so did you ever feel sad/guilty that you left the world of Harry vs. Voldemort and started Casual Vacancy?

I have not yet read this book but is definitely on my to read list. I like the way you write so I know this will be a fantastic addition to my home library. I have all the Harry Potter books so I definitely want this one too. Have you ever thought about writing books about life issues?
What inspired you to write this book? It focuses on the issues in Britain around mental health and social services pretty closely and it feels like you've written at least partially from experience.

While the Harry Potter books featured characters who, for the most part, were good and heroic, the characters in The Casual Vacancy, are very morally flawed people. Was this a conscious choice in order to write something completely different, or was this an evolved choice?
What prompted you to write something very different from Harry Potter in terms of plot and genre? How was writing it similar and/or different to writing Harry Potter? How do you feel about some people giving negative reviews because they have to compare it to Harry Potter?

Dear Ms. Rowling, I have not yet read this book however I do own it. I wanted to ask what was your inspiration behind this book? What was your hook for writing this adult novel?
You've come a long way since the beginning of 'Harry Potter', and have achieved so much today. Have you ever wished that you could live an alternate life, or chose a different life-altering decision?
Your fame began with Harry Potter, and now you have released such a different book. Harry Potter is filled with magic and friendship and the courage to continue doing what you must do, whereas The Casual Vacancy is about politics and is obviously a novel directed to adults: how did you cope moving on from Harry Potter and was writing The Casual Vacancy a form of escapeism?
As an author myself I also understand the pressures of being a writer. When you where writing The Casual Vacancy did you become as attached to the newer characters as Harry Potter did? And will there be another book based on Vacancy.

Do you hate fat people? It's a recurrent theme on your novels. Yes, obesity is one of the top maladies of the modern city life but you seem to have a special seat reserved for obese people on your novels. Some of us just have the curiosity if it's someone you hate in real life or what else could it be?
What is your writing ritual?
Rowling always admired your talent, that have succeeded to capture so much in a book and this book to be a success. I just wrote this book I ran to get it. I admit to say that I was sure that your book would not have anything to do with Harry Potter. The stated course itself also. But I never expected to write about a village where there are gaps between its residents. Honestly your imagination surprised me again. I dare say that I can no longer read your thoughts, figure out your mind. Your book impressed me from the very first page. But (and here is my question) Because I started writing for adults? What is your goal? Really believe it is worth writing a different book of Harry Potter?, In my opinion began writing a comprehensive book and Integration within 7 books. I can not write another Harry Potter book because your books sealed with the number 7 and also some things are good to stay hidden because Harry Potter continue and I have many secrets that you decided not to write them. I get it honestly. Does your book "The Casual Vacancy" is it complete?

How heart wrenching was it for you as a mother and a writer to let that little boy walk alone towards the river? Do you really think a woman and a mother could just walk past that, with out alarm bells going off? As a reader I knew what was coming and I wanted to yell for someone to stop it. Well done Ms. Rowling very powerful stuff! I loved this book, as dark as it was, and am so impressed with your scope as a writer.
JK, There are lots of characters, by most books standards,featured within The Casual vacancy and all are given some development throughout the story.
Did you ever axe any characters from the book? If so, what criteria did you use in order to decide that these characters should be 'let go'?

What was the importance of the trio of Andrew, Gaia and Sukhvinder, besides that they were all outcasts in their own way and found solace in each other? Any parallels (deliberate or not) with the Harry Potter trio?Your characters & stories are so real and vibrant, thank you for sharing them with us.
I wish that I could have read past the first two chapters after reading the questions. I felt assaulted with the language, and my desire was to ask "why?". There is a J.K. Rowling somewhere in between Harry and this casual use of an otherwise beautiful language.

First of all,congratulations on proving yourself capable of writing fiction for everyone!! I was in my 50's when I read the Potter books and LOVED THEM!! Are the characters in "Vacancy" based on people you met before you,thankfully, became an author? When can we expect your next project?? Thank you for taking the chance to write!!!
I haven't gotten around to reading your book yet. But as an author, a literary artist, was there anything in particular that you were hoping to achieve or convey with this book in particular?
