Just finished reading Amulet, Book 2: The Stonekeeper's Curse and Black Bird, Volume 1. Black Bird was my first manga. Interesting. Need to try some others. Starting in on Spirits That Walk in Shadow by Nina Kiriki Hoffman. It is part of the books for my monthly bookclub.

I'm feeling indifferent to Inside Out, but I'm loving Graceling.

I will be interested in hearing your thoughts on this one. I had mixed feelings about the book, but am really looking forward to the next book which is more of a prequel or background on the Huntress.

Ash - I'm still mulling it over; I wrote the best review I could considering my unformed feelings about it - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to an interested teen girl but I'm not sure it was worth my time. I should think it'd be "safe" in a Bible-Belt school library. I don't imagine boys reading it.

I felt that trying to fit it in with the "Cinderella" theme actually hindered the story. It seemed it couldn't develop as a story because it was trying to work in the other parts.

I too am reading and loving Graceling by Kristen Cashore. I only have a few more chapters to go and then it's on to Fire. I love how they're companion novels, but definately looking forward to Bitterblue.

Lani, I'm a little past halfway with Graceling and just came across the character Bitterblue. The story is getting so intense that it was hard to turn off my car and come into work (audiobook).

I finally got around to Speak and I just found out it was a movie. I am sooooo far behind!

The book is really good and really depressing at the same time. Gonna watch the film thereafter.

I have been so busy this week I haven't updated. I just started Tortilla Sun by Jennifer Cervantes. So far so good.

Just finishing up The 39 Clues, book one (Maze of Bones) by Rick Riordan.

I thought it was great. I really enjoyed it and I am going to read the others for sure. I know there are at least 7 books. I'm hoping that there really aren't 39 of them. I couldn't handle that. I'm not doing any of the online stuff. I just really want to see what happens with the characters. So far, I would recommend The Maze of Bones. I'll keep you guys posted on the others. Maybe I should start a thread?

Right now I'm reading Angelology by Danielle Trussoni. It's a little hard to get into but I'm hoping it picks up.

I'm still chugging through Northern Lights for the group read.
Intellectually I'm enjoying it and finding it interesting but it isn't grabbing and yelling 'read me, read me!' so the going is a bit slow.

Bhumi, I met Diana Peterfreud at BEA. She was really cool and gave me tons of bookmarks for my blog. I read her short story in Zombies vs. Unicorns and it was excellent! Rampant looks great. Hope you enjoy!

i know im not Jen but im a newbie here ,so forgive me , i couldnt resist.
Sarah Desseen is one of my fav YA authors and "The truh about forever" is by far my fav of all of her novels. characters as always are well develped and easily relatable. def worth reading, you wont regret it

I'm listening to In a Class by Itself by Sandra Brown.
It is a first reads win and a romance and it is reminding why romance is not really my thing!

I think you have to read a really good romance to decide if it's your thing. I've never read Sandra Brown but there are some really great romance authors out there.

Sandra Brown has quite decent reputation and she is pretty popular among the romance readers in our library.
First reads also sent me a book of hers, this was audio, so I'll have to see how that goes.

I tend to prefer paranormal romance than straight romance or chicklit romance. Not sure why but I do. Which paranormal romances do you have on your list?

Oh, A Date with the Other Side by Erin McCarthy is really good. Then she has a whole vampire romance series. I read High Stakes which is about a vegas vampire and it's great!

Well I'm finishing up the Twilight series and I have the first Sookie Stackhouse in my pile.
Then there is Shiver, Vampire Academy, Inked, First Drop of Crimson, Hunter Kiss 1&2 and Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband to name a few.

I'm dying to read the Stackhouse series. My problem is I have too many books on my list to read. The one I'm currently reading is wonderful but taking me forever to get through.

Shiver is awesome (about werewolves). I read it in two days (that's how good it was). I also really liked Evermore, Blue Bloods (it's a series) and then Uglies, which is a series, not too much romance but a great read.

Esther - Shiver is really more romance than paranormal but I loved it. You might want to try Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Other World Series too. Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus, 13 to Life by Shannon Delany, Wake by Lisa McMann, and Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder. All have swoon worthy male characters at least in my opinion.
