Kathy (readr4ever) | 342 comments I'm reading The Unfinished Angel by Sharon Creech. It's okay, but I'm not loving it so far like I did Love That Dog and Hate That Cat: A Novel, both by Creech.

LOL! The title could easily be changed to Love That Cat by the end of the book, not to spoil it for you.

Paula (pauldajo) I finished Fire and am trying to decide what to read next.

WOW!! I did not know that she was married to Scott Westerfeld! I think I will have to read that book! It is so intersting when you find out that authors are married to each other like Peter Dickenson and Robin McKinley!!

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I've just started Poison this week. It's too soon to tell what I think of it. Looks promising, though!

Good luck with that. (Am I the ONLY person who hated this book? Because it sure seems like it.)

I read Alvin Ho Allergic to Girls, School, and Other Scary Things yesterday, and it was SO cute... little juvie book.

No Sara, there are two of us! I didn't hate it, I just didn't like it either. Have you read anything by John Green? (Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns) I wondered what you thought of him if so. I found that Looking for Alaska struck me the same way.

message 1665: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments I've read An Abundance of Katherines, which I remember liking (apparently a lot because I rated it 4 stars)... But it wasn't the same for me...

I just remember Perks having a ton of language and being all-around crude. This is what I wrote in my review: "I didn't like it. I thought it was... perverse. Too much completely unnecessary language. Gross things I didn't want to think about. To me, it was like watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show... I just kept thinking that it was going to get better, and then it ended. I finished it, because I thought that MAYBE the ending would make up for what the majority of the book lacked, but to no avail."

That one and Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. WOW, I couldn't believe how much language there was in that book! Gratuitous language. It SHOCKED me, and made me feel really disgusted about the kids of the rising generation, who apparently aren't intelligent enough to use more creative language than the F-word. They're the future? I shudder at the thought. (And my generation (about a half-generation ahead of the high schoolers) isn't much better...)

On a more positive note, I'm rereading The Goose Girl, which is fantastic.

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments I'm reading How to Take the Ex Out of Ex-Boyfriend. . .sounds intersting - I love it! So far at least. . .don't jinx it Arya. . .

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) I am reading The Demigod Files and I love getting back into Percy's world! It is such a wonderful place.

If you've read the 5 Percy Jackson books, I highly recommend this anthology of stories and tid bits.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments I just finished the audio of The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart, which I thought was really fun... Frankie is a snarky, logophilic genius!

I just started Fairest. It's cute so far... I can already anticipate where the storyline is going at 50 pages in, but I don't mind that too much...

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments I'm reading Anthem by Ayn Rand, I doubt that this is considered YA by anyone's standards, but it is interesting and slightly disturbing. . .

message 1683: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mldavisreads) | 210 comments I just finished Peeled by Joan Bauer, who is one of my favorite authors. I loved it.

Now I'm listening to Leviathan on audiobook, and I must say I love the narrator's accent. It takes place during WWI and I hope it doesn't get too complex while I'm driving!

Mandy (mldavisreads) | 210 comments @Arya--Alan Cumming is the narrator of Leviathan, apparently he is Scottish which explains why the European accents sound so authentic :)

Really? I love how John Green writes. It is witty yet sensitive and makes me laugh and cry. I listened to them all as audiobooks- maybe that made a difference.
