What Are You Reading Now?
Reading The Sweet Far Thing to finish up the challenge. Also, going to reread Wicked Lovely for my book club.
I am finally reading Anne of Green Gables. It's been staring at me for so long, I had to pick it up and read it. Also, I wanted to fit in a quick read (hopefully) before I get the new Steig Larsson novel tomorrow, The Girl Who Played with Fire.
Fiona wrote: "Haha Kathy, you are rushing out to buy The Girl Who Played with Fire I see. It's FANTASTIC.I've just finished it!"
I'm so looking forward to buying it tomorrow. Your hearty endorsement of it makes it even more exciting.
I can't stand the thought of paying for a new hardback but I don't know if I'll be able to wait :P*starts collecting change in the parking lot*
Jo wrote: "Im reading The Summoning its pretty good so far "By Kelley Armstrong? I liked it. It was exactly what I would expect of her for YA. Have you read any of her adult stuff?
Kathy: Are you not just loving Anne? She is one of my all-time favorite characters.
Allison: Don't forget the couch cushions.
Kathy wrote: "I am finally reading Anne of Green Gables. It's been staring at me for so long, I had to pick it up and read it. Also, I wanted to fit in a quick read (hopefully) before I get the new..."I hope you're liking this! Like Misty..Anne is one of my all time favorites.
I was wondering when the Anne fans would say something. I would have been disappointed if Allison and Misty didn't gush about her. In fact, Allison, I think I remember you were shamelessly promoting Anne of Green Gables. LOL! I just got to the part where Matthew and Anne got home, but so far so good.
Kathy wrote: "I was wondering when the Anne fans would say something. I would have been disappointed if Allison and Misty didn't gush about her. In fact, Allison, I think I remember you were shamelessly promot..."hehe yes, I love my Anne :)
Kathy I can picture Matthew and Anna coming home from the station...this book makes me happy...Anne is also one of my favorite characters ***I have a huge smile on my face***
See, it's great from the very beginning. Anne clutching her bag and talking Matthew's ear off! I ♥ her
Misty wrote: "See, it's great from the very beginning. Anne clutching her bag and talking Matthew's ear off! I ♥ her"her quote then...asking Matthew if she talks too much and then going off on her little tangent...is one of my favorite quotes ever.
Finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and of course loved it again! As I was reading, I knew what the next line would be without reading it first... haha
Will continue reading Eldest and start reading The Book Thief & City of Ashes.

OMG, I love Peter Beagle. Little asthmatic guy who went to Pitt and majored in Creative Writing, just like me ('cept, of course, he actally managed to become a writer!). He was hands down my favorite author in high school, and though I can't say that any more, the authors who've joined him don't touch his style. He's sort of Charles de Linty -- literary despite his genre.
Check out your Del Ray (I think) paperback copies of the Lord of the Rings novels: I'm pretty sure Beagle does the forward, which was also awesome.
Lila the Werewolf was also great; it's only a short story, but it was good fun, and a little sad.
And The Last Unicorn also has that animated movie with the awesomely cheesey soundtrack by America. Fantastic!
I definately get that Last Unicorn song stuck in my head all the time, that whole I'm aliiiiiive, I'm aliiiiive something something blah blah the last unicoooorn!

Yay Kristen, I entered and became a follower and was definately inspired to finally create my own book blog. You rock!
I just became a follower of yours...I have like a blog homepage that I made in like 2007 and have never used :) hehe.
Mine is pretty lame. http://readingisthespiceoflife.blogsp..., is it okay if I link to you?Oh and just to be on topic, I'm currently reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, I'm more than half way through it, I love it so far. It's definately adult, but I could see lots of YA-type people enjoying it. :-)
Well, the thing is, I student teach in the fall for history, and I'm going to see how I like it. I really enjoy history, and have a small passion for it, but it's not like my burning passion for books (don't we all have that) and I'm the type where I can't do something I'm not super passionate about. Plus I hate selling stuff, so I could never own a bookshop. Hence, the MLS love, which by the way, I can't read and not immediately think Major League Soccer.

Yeah, I did the same thing. I am in awe of Kristen
s blog. I attempt things like this, and then something else comes along and I abandon it. Who was it I was talking about O.S.S ('Ooh, Shiny!' Syndrome) with? Allison? Yeah, it rears its ugly head again. (and again. and again.)
Anyway, I'm going to try to stick to it regardless of whether anyone ever reads it, because I remember things better if I write them down, and if I can make it look half as presentable as Kristen's, I'm going to feel pretty awesome.
haha! Well I know I'm getting my MLS, but I don't know yet what I'll do with it. Maybe be a librarian...maybe something more corporate like a research job of some type.*shrugs* I'll worry about it when I get there.
yeah. Kristen reads all the same books I do anyway (except that she gets them first! *jealous*) so I'll just let her do her awesome blog and I'll just sit here and pretend to be cool.
April, I'm closing in on the end of The Name of the Wind - really loving it! You guys are too funny. I just have had the summer off and threw in a ton of time into my blog. It's nice just to work part-time at night for these three months. It's super addicting. :) I blame Emma for showing me hers and then I just went crazy with it. :)
I'm so happy you guys like Name of the Wind, really :) You two are the first of my friends to have read it since I have and I'm so obsessed with seeing if other people love it!
Misty wrote: "Well, I plan on reading it soon, so maybe it will be three..."DO IT! :) hehe. Its my favorite. Well, second only to Harry Potter.
*edit* errr...and Anne :P
k, maybe its #3 :) still, not too shabby! lol.
I loved The Name of the Wind too - I just wish the second would hurry up and come out! I've started many books lately, the latest being City of Glass, but I just can't seem to get into any of them...

I just finished the book today and thought that it was pretty good. I also like Schmendrick the Magician too.
I don't think that I have ever seen the movie though.

Is that the first one? I read whatever the first of that Mortal Instruments series was and I was *NOT* a fan. I really wanted to be though :(
Allison wrote: Is that the first one? I read whatever the first of that Mortal Instruments series was and I was *NOT* a fan. I really wanted to be though :(No, it's the third. I don't think they're very well written, and there are plenty of plot holes, but I managed to enjoy them anyway...
I think the Mortal Instruments series is one of those books where you know it's not good, but there's something there that you're willing to supplement with your own imagination. I think that's the only reason I continued to read after the first one, cause the writing is nothing to write home about (ha!). That and Simon and Magnus. Love them.
I just finished the Name of the Wind. You guys need to read that book, ASAP.Anyways I'm thinking I may begin Does My Head Look Big In This? by Randa Abdel-Fattah before bed.
We could all be reading a bunch for free for a year. Just found out about a contest Better World Books is having, free books for a year for tweeting them. I wrote about it in my blog (third post, woohoo). If you want to know more, go here
I finished Anne of Green Gables last night and did indeed love it. Allison and Misty, you have a new fan of the Anne. I started Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin (author of Elsewhere, one of my favorite YA books), and I am loving it, too.
everyone is either a fan of Anne, or soon-to-be-a-fan-of-Anne when they read it, or...their name is Fiona and they smell bad.:)
Fiona wrote: "Is there not something in the group rules which says that everyone has to bow down to me and kiss my feet and above all must not accuse me of smelling? "ummmmm...no! :D
Vampire Beach... who is that by? I will have to look into it... :)
I finished Eldest and am going to start City of Glass.
