A. Mani (thesunstealer) How do you choose your next book? Today's range is huge and sometimes it is an impossible mission. Some go by friends and family's recommendations and some lean on stars and reviews. I do it as well only, sometimes I feel that as content consumers we miss great art that simply got lost on the way. On that note, I would like to recommend you a writer that barely has any readers/stars/reviews but is a talented tale teller and her last title "Hollow", which is dedicated to adults, (she usually writes for kids) is a beautiful story, which deals with painful issues in a very delicate way. Very recommended. (And not just for the outcast book lists ;)

I listened to the audiobook and immediately placed it on my forever favorite bookshelf for a host of reasons, but primarily because of the ease i had in understanding the characters and the overall excellence of the story. The book stayed on my mind for a few months and i even purchased a paper copy for my sister. You will not, could not, be disappointed with your choice.

message 1833: by Lela (new)

Lela (lacslc) | 191 comments Sorry -- got interrupted & somehow sent msg. Anyway, story lines are quite good - in fact that's part of the problem. There's just too much happening. I wish the writer had taken a clue from Marilynne Robinson's format and written different books from the character's points of view. So even though the writing is really good, a stringent editing would be good. Plus, there were so many grammar & tense errors and misused & missing words, it was distracting. Probably worth a 3 as it is but good easily become a 5 with good editing all around. But, I will read Part 2 because I have so much time invested in the characters!
