Hey! I am Alex. I will be 27 in December. I am a stay at home mother of a sassy practically 2 year old daughter. I saw that you are reading the Birds next month which enticed me to join the group. I need that book in my life. Ha.
Thank you. I am excited about the birds. Great movie.
Thank you, thank you for the warm welcome. :)

Excellent! Alex! You joined! This is so cool! Celeste is right, this this an awesome group! So glad you're here! :)

I love contemporary and classic fiction, bio, fantasy, general nonfiction, some YA, some sci-fi, some memoir.
Besides reading, my other big passion is travel: have visited 29 of 50 US states, about 30 countries to date (I'm 30) and hope to visit more! Favorite countries visited so far include Japan, Chile, South Africa, and Italy; my must go list includes New Zealand, India, Antarctica, and Peru.
Excited to participate in some group readings for Nov/Dec!

Hi Sam, welcome and happy reading! :)

I've read lots of classic novels and would be interested in the apparent upcoming group reads of Daphne du Maurier's The Birds, and Ishiguro's The Remains of the Day. I really enjoyed other books by these writers: Rebecca, My Cousin Rachel, and Never Let Me Go. I like that the group has several books to choose from each month.

Hi George! Welcome! :)

I'm also excited for the short story read of The Birds next month, as I've really enjoyed a few of du Maurier's novels.

Hiya Manda! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself! Happy reading! :)

My name is Alkmini, I am a biologist and I am from Greece.
I love reading books. My favorite genres are historical fiction and thriller-crime. I really want to explore the world of classics! I 've read only few of them...

Welcome Manda! :o)
you wouldn't be working off the Guardian 1000 list by any chance?
that's the one I'm mainly using - I am also in the specific Group for that too!

What a gorgeous dog picture Manda. Yours?

My name is Elin and I'm a librarian in western Pennsylvania. I love to cook and bake, have a passion for continuing my studies in history, and love exploring the world of scotch.
My favorite book is either Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf or Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. When I'm not reading classics, I do try and keep up with some YA books, as that's a large part of my job, and I read a lot of historical non-fiction. (Mostly British history, although I've been reading quite a lot of Russian history lately.)
I'm looking forward to reading along with all of you!

I have Mrs Dalloway slated for early 2017, so will let you know what I think!
I see you have over 6,000 books on your TBR shelf - that should keep you busy! :oO

I'd love to read and discuss Mrs. Dalloway! I try and re-read some of my favorites each year. My TBR list grows each time I order books for work, although my eyes are usually bigger than my reading stomach can actually handle and I go in and weed it from time to time.
Looking forward to discussion.

Ooh. I like all of your different tastes Sandra. And I just read Jane Eyre for the first time this year and fell deeply in love with it!
Welcome to the group Becky. I hope we can help you focussing on classic reads for 2017. So glad you have joined us.

I am a reader of many different genres. I own a lot of classics but have not read many of them. I plan on making them my focus in 2017. Your December selections drew me in and I am looking for..."
