Welcome! So many books, so little time!

Well put, Saad, on your first reading of a Thomas Hardy book--which one? As Pink said, glad you're enjoying it. I was reading A Laodicean : a Story of To-day until I lost my Kindle Paperwhite last year in the aftermath of a flood in my kitchen and living room caused by a burst hose on my clothes washer. I have a Kindle for PC with 334 books on it including The Laodicean. I purchased for it, less than a week ago for a buddy read in another Goodreads group, an omnibus of H.P. Lovecraft's complete fiction. Earlier this year I read Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles, which was okay except that I didn't much like Tess.
Now reading When Pride Still Mattered: A Life Of Vince Lombardi for a buddy read.
Sorry if I rambled on and on.
Jim

I absolutely loved Tess of the D'Urbervilles and absolutely hated Madame Bovary .... just to show how horrible my opinions are! LOL.
I look forward to reading more classics and making more friends. :)
Welcome to our group, Lulu, Mohammed & Charlotte. I'm so glad that you found us and decided to join reading classics with us.

"Wellcome! So many books, so little time!"
MKay, sorry to interrupt, welcome to Charlotte, but i do find the time is plenty, plenty enough to finish a book, only an impending natural disaster will stop I when I sail forth, and not let a nap get in the way. I have vast ambitions to read, morning, day, and night, read in the dew, read at dawn, read at dusk, read a little with a "hello google" by my side. Read under the clouds, read under the stars, read in the rain, read in the cold, read all winter long.

Hi and welcome Lulu! I also like historical fiction and mysteries/thrillers but of late I've really branched out and have been reading a lot of classics! This group really boarders your classical reading horizons! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here! Happy reading! :)

O no Jim, that is an awful lot of books to read on PC, I too have experienced the benefits of a kindle the ealier keyboard version. Does the paperwhite work at night or does it require a side light?
You do have to be careful, I recommend wrapping a clear polyester bag and making it waterproof if your going to be near water, i 've made a special retreat out back water tight, fighting away the British winter, but still within acceptable standards of Amazon Fire use, and breathing in the fresh air, fresh oxygen to the brain helps comprehension. Having said that once the kindle simply sat on my bed and when I got up the codes had frozen, but Amazon promptly sent out a replacement.
I am reading Far away from the madding crowd. Ahh the folly of the tumbler, i've wrestled too with the storm of dirty water and cross contamination, to be spun again and again, no can't say I am but a fan of the conventional washer. I take a slower pace to life, I clean a single garment by the hand, at first it was frustrating, I made an error reproducing the pounding of a motor straining, but as I watched the peaceful brisk of the wind, and appreciated the drops from a natural shower, I appreciated the constant gentle draining away of filth in nature. Like a statement to the police, i swore then, in my oath, i shall not ever return to the motor - do what they may.
I will check out Tess_of_the_D_Urbervilles, high praise from Lulu too. i like the title of the book you mentioned last Jim, but i rather investigate Thomas some more.
Good day.

I have been a huge fan of classics now and one of my favorites are 1984 and The Outsiders.
I am big on the dystopian fiction for a while too such as Fahrenheit 451 and A Clockwork Orange.
My favorite classic book is definitely The Great Gatsby since its nice cool roaring 20s lifestyle makes it so great. It has a lot of great symbolism in it too.
I am a huge fan of 2 very talented authors named Ray Bradbury and Stephen King, I'm sure you've heard of them before. My favorite work of Stephen King would be The Long Walk because I just love the characters and I still miss them to this day.
The first two books that got me into reading and made me very interested in Literature were The Outsiders and And Then There Were None. I was assigned them in school and I've been reading ever since.

Yes, I try to always have a book with me to read everywhere, but I do feel as if I will never get read as much as I want t read. :)

From, primarily the classics, down to drug facts. I just can't stop. Glad to see many of the books suggested are already in my library, so it'll be nice to revisit them. I read as many as 3 books at a time. I don't know how to concentrate in just one. Thank you & make time to read!

Thanks Andrea. It will be fun. There's also a similar Japan challenge happening.

Thanks Wreade1872, those look interesting. :)

Thanks for listening!

Hi and welcome Andy! You'll find many Dicken fans here, so with that in mind, I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here! Happy reading!! :)

I'm Kim from Indiana, have a delightful, very engaging daughter who has the nerve to live out west, but stays in touch.
I enjoy books of all kinds, but because my deductive, investigative skills had to retire with my health, I read a lot of crime, mystery, suspense these days, but also history and genealogy.
I'm happy to be here because there are so many classics people will refer to and somehow I missed them all. This will encourage. Hi all

Hi and welcome Kim! You did everything perfectly! Not to worry! I love crime, mysteries and suspense books too but, I've missed so many classics that joining this group has helped me rectified that! I'm sure you'll love the books that we read and the discussions we have! Jump in and enjoy yourself! Happy reading! :)
Welcome to our group Andy & Kim E.
I'm so glad that both of you found us here and decided to join us. I'm looking forward to discussing & reading books with you.
