For me it was a bit hard to get into, but I loved the set up, the second one is going really well.

If you struggle I would say push through

Thanks. I've only got to read two chapters so far but I am enjoying it.

I've wanted to read that for ages!Definitely one of my must reads.

Tango | 290 comments I currently have two books on the go, which is unusual for me. Beyond Fear an Australian thriller that I got when it was free on iBooks and Gone Girl. I don't generally read these kinds of meaningless thrillers, but they make for some easy reading after reading the very thought-provoking Foal's Bread.

I just finished The Cuckoo's Calling and really enjoyed it. It appears J.K. Rowling can write any genre. I hope she continues with this series because I really liked Cormoran Strike and would like to hear more of him.
A complete change of pace now as I start The Name of the Rose

message 5616: by Michele (new)

Michele I very quickly finished Would You Eat Your Cat? Key Ethical Conundrums and What They Tell You About Yourself, which was interesting, but maybe a little simplistic. I have now started Blood Harvest by S.J. Bolton

Hey, thanks. Hopefully, everyone who reads it will feel like we did about the book. And yes, those last chapters really knock you around a bit, don't they?

And if I hadn't read your review and seen Phynne's comments, I might never had picked up Harold Fry, so thanks for the heads up on a great read.

Now, that sounds like something I would like. Added to my TBR.

How is happening that as soon as I read something from my TBR, then I read a review of another that I find I'd like to read:)

And I am STILL reading The Name of the Rose. I have never read a book with so many unnecessary words in it. You can skip whole chapters and still not miss out on any of the plot. Maybe I should do exactly that otherwise I may never get to the end of it.

message 5648: by Jen (new)

Jen Ryan I started A Complicated Kindness today and am loving it. Sat in the sunny courtyard whilst Australia got belted in the cricket and read 70 pages without really blinking, other than to fill my glass with some more bubbles. I'm so intrigued by the narrator, and feel like calling it a "coming-of-age" story is somehow doing the book a disservice.

Well I finished The Name of the Rose. I am glad it is over. I did enjoy the story. The main characters Brother William and Adso were like a medieval Sherlock and Watson. However the endless descriptions of everything that moved or didn't move drove me to distraction. Sometimes there were up to four PAGES of description about one church door. Did I mention that I finished it? Only just!
Now I am reading Perfect: A Novel.

Perfect: A Novel Is this released? Book page says publication Jan 2014. Did you get an advance copy to review? I can't wait to read now; I adored Harold Fry which I read after I saw your comments.
