I'm reading The Reborn King, a nice fantasy stories with many twists and good pace. I think it's the first book of a trilogy.
Clifton wrote: "The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson"Amazing book. Stephen King called it one of only two great horror novels written in the 20th century. (the other was 'Turn of the Screw.')

Those are both really good books.

Of course, we could add at least another dozen books written by King himself.
Finished up The Haunting of Hill House, so next up is Hell House by Richard Matheson. I sense a trend!
Just finished Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill. I love his dad but not too keen on the son's first effort. It was too melancholy throughout and never really grasped my feeling for the characters. Maybe I'll put him on the back burner...on to The Shadow Queen by CJ Redwine.
Donita wrote: "Just finished Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill. I love his dad but not too keen on the son's first effort. It was too melancholy throughout and never really grasped my feeling for the characters. Maybe..."Good word for it "melancholy" his later books are not quite so stark. You might try HORNS which I think is really funny.
I think I mentioned that I read scripts for the Cinequest film festival here in San Jose CA. Currently, they are sending me nothing but horror scripts. I have to say that the first script I read was remarkable, like something by Anne Rice. But the newest one (supposedly a horror comedy) is just bad. Unfortunately, I can't share the names, though I guess I could if one of the scripts I read does win and is made into a film. Needless to say, it does limit my other reading.
Just finished IT by Stephen King again. This is one book that I like to read every couple of years to scare the heck out of me.

Clifton wrote: "Finished up The Haunting of Hill House, so next up is Hell House by Richard Matheson. I sense a trend!"Definitely and that's another good choice.

Just a thought He is a good writer he just needs a little seasoning as the saying goes and he will become a really good writer. Maybe one day he might become a great writer like his father, only time will tell.
Clifton wrote: "Something Wicked This Way Comes, Ray Bradbury"I really enjoyed something wicked this way comes and dracula. Great books.

Yes, I quite liked it. Mr. Dark certainly bore more than a passing resemblance to Leland Gaunt.
I finished The Reborn King, first book of a fantasy series, with good ideas and an interesting plot. Today I started The Chronicle of Heloise & Grimple, funny story with hilarious dialogues.
Am looking for a new book to read. Am thinking IT (S King, read it many years ago), but open to all good suggestions please?? Am liking a bit of thriller/suspense these days, or even a bit of hanky panky!
Andrew wrote: "Am looking for a new book to read. Am thinking IT (S King, read it many years ago), but open to all good suggestions please?? (The Cuckoo's Calling is one.) She must have been tired of writing for a general audience because they're very adult. I always felt that she inspired King to write the Bill Hodges trilogy, though hers is better (Except IMHO - for FINDERS KEEPERS.)
Nick wrote: "Andrew wrote: "Am looking for a new book to read. Am thinking IT (S King, read it many years ago), but open to all good suggestions please?? Am liking a bit of thriller/suspense these days, or even..."Thanks Dude. It's now on the "Want to Read" list.
Reading The Drawing of the Three. Couldn't resist dipping back into the Dark Tower series after having watched the movie recently.
