Just finished The Girl with All the Gifts (which was really good btw)In the middle of Into the Darkest Corner but up next is 14 and also Alas, Babylon on audio.
I've started a new series, "Raven's Shadow". After finishing the first book, Blood Song, now I'm reading the second, Tower Lord.
Just finished reading The Scarlet Gospels by Clive Barker and was really disappointed. The storyline centred around Pinhead was imaginative and well written, but the character writing for the "other" group in the story was very, very poor, often-cliche'ed (particularly the gay characters) and showed no evidence of the type of character writing that makes Sai King's "quest" novels so, so enjoyable.
Miriam wrote: "I am reading, "the house of scorpion" by Nancy Farmer. It's a page turner."I really enjoyed that book, but the sequel (can't think of the name) was a let down.
Reading Anno Dracula by Kim Newman at the moment. I'm enjoying it so much I almost impulse bought the next three books on Amazon today. XD
Making my way through the Locke and Key series by Joe Hill. I love these books man! Tonight is Volume 3, Crown of Shadows.
The mother of all Star Wars prequels Into the Void takes place 25,000 years before A New Hope, so I was expecting something Arthurian with simple technology. But no, we've got spaceships zooming around.

Cody wrote: "Making my way through the Locke and Key series by Joe Hill. I love these books man! Tonight is Volume 3, Crown of Shadows."The series is amazing! Takes forever to read because I get sucked in by Rodriquez' illustrations just as deeply as Joe's words.

I'm 2% in and I do like it. The author writes vivid settings and he creates a sense of foreboding right away.

@Kandice, it's only gonna take me awhile because I can't afford to buy all the books atm :( but I'll re-read the three that I have! Takes me about two hours to read one, but then I go back and admire the art...

We'll let it slide this time, Rhian!

Namorrah wrote: "I'm reading "Heir to the Empire" by Timothy Zahn: the first book in the Star Wars Thrawn Trilogy. As a huge Star Wars fan, it's extremely enjoyable!"I love Zahn's SWEU Books.
So, I never heard of the Locke & Key series, but I got the kindle edition of the first book. Also listening to the audio of Richard Laymon's Come Out Tonight. Just finished Finders Keepers, hope to have a review up soon. 5 stars, no doubt about it.

Back with you after a couple months. Never had such a reading drought before. Weird...I finished Red or Dead by David Peace. Painful boring read. Not entertainment even for a die hard football fan like me
and I started Consider the Lobster and Other Essays by David Foster Wallace, which seems amazing
Kaylee wrote: "Ken, where do I find the Stephen King reading challenge? x"A group of us are doing it together in another Goodreads group, Horror Afficionados. I tried to get it started on here and, oddly enough, there wasn't much interest. I'll send you the info, if you'd like to join us.
I enjoyed 20th CG. I read some reviews that complained about a couple of the stories ended prematurely. I actually liked that style, it left my imagination working after the words ended.
I finished Anno Dracula the other day, and loved the hell out of it. It's basically a paradise for anyone who knows their vampire fiction or Victorian fiction in general. And while I'm waiting for the sequels to arrive in the mail, I'm rereading chapters from Danse Macabre. I love reading King just ramble on about the genre.

I just wish the new edition had reprinted the pictures from the old one. I love those movie stills.
I finished Finders Keepers about a week ago. It was on par with Mr. Mercedes. Then I started The Girl on the Train.
Anno Dracula: The Bloody Red Baron and the other two sequels arrived in the mail today, so I'll be reading them shortly.
Hi, I am new to the group and am currently reading The Wise Man's Fear, The Twelve, and Shift Omnibus (Silo, #2)
Been out of the loop for a while, just finished Finders Keepers and Girl on the train and currently reading the Red Queen and Heart Shaped Box.
Finished Judgement Day
by Andrew Neiderman. It was the prequel to his Devil's Advocate and I think he mailed it in. Like watching an unbelievable episode of Law and Order. 2 out of 5 stars
Also finished the excellent short ghost story from William Meikle, The Persistence Of Memory
4 out of 5 stars

Hi Kristine. Welcome to the group. I'm in the middle of What Lies Within, reading by request of the author James Morris, so that's pretty cool.
I'm also reading Summer of Night for an audiobook group read. It's a long one, and it has it's moments. Also reading White is the Coldest Colour for an impromptu group read and interaction with the author John Nicholl. That's always fun, enlightening and interesting.
I'm almost finished with them all and not sure what's up next. I'm thinking something humorous and creepy. That's always a good time.
Anno Dracula: The Bloody Red BaronMy God, not even a third of the way through and there's already been cameos by Dr. Caligari and freaking Pinhead.
Just read 1408 from Everything's Eventual. Wow, what a freakin' ride!!!! Anyone see the movie? How does it compare?
Just started Y: The Last Man, by Brian K Vaughan (author of Saga) and so far it's pretty good. Picked up book 2 as well.
Steve wrote: "Just read 1408 from Everything's Eventual. Wow, what a freakin' ride!!!! Anyone see the movie? How does it compare?"I have seen the movie but it has been so long that I do not remember how I felt about it. I will have to rewatch it.
I haven't read the short story, but I thought the movie of 1408 was pretty damn good. King liked it too, and mentioned it as one of the standout recent horror films in the introduction to the new edition of Danse Macabre.
