Kate (kaitlins16) Any of you are able to join in on these challenges, even if you don't participate in the actual reading (if you don't, then you can still sign up to be a partner that picks someone's books to read).

**This challenge was initially my own personal set of challenges, but any of you are free to join me. No matter which number of people participate, I'll still be doing it.

Here's the general idea of what this is:

Time: 2 weeks

Type of challenge: reading, partner

Reading goal: Read 1-10 (you pick the number before the challenge begins) books that your partner picked for you from a list you'll post on this thread.

Process:
-The week before the challenge begins, I will give a list of suggested theme or set of themes for you to choose from. You may pick one of them, or choose a different theme altogether. *You don't need a specific theme to do this challenge.

-Then you go through your to-read shelf and make a list of books that a)you have quick access to, b)you genuinely want to read, and c) go with the theme you chose (you can also choose to not have a theme, and just choose books you would like to read).

-Your partner picks the books for you to read based on that list. You will also choose books for your partner to read (unless your partner only signed up to choose books for others to read).

-Try to finish reading all the books chosen for you within within the two-week challenge period.

**I recommend leaving reviews on our review thread to tell us how you liked (or disliked) the books you read.

Kate (kaitlins16) That's good enough. The challenge won't actually start for about three or four weeks, so I'm just getting some information about it out now.

Kate (kaitlins16) When do you all think we should start the reading for the challenge? June 1 or June 8?

message 7: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) This challenge will officially star on June 1. In a few days I'll post a few preparation details so that when that day comes, you'll have your list of books to read.

message 11: by Kate (last edited May 23, 2013 06:11PM) (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) We need to post book lists and number of books we want to read!

Here's is what you can do to prepare for the challenge:

By Wednesday:
1. Pick a number of books that will be your goal of reading for the challenge. That number may be one, ten, or any number in between.

2. Please post that number as well as a list for a partner to choose that number of books for you to read from. The list you give must be at least twice the number as your goal amount. (If your goal is one book, please post at least three books for your partner to choose from.)

From Wednesday to Saturday (when challenge begins):
3. Depending on the number of people in the challenge, I might choose your partners. However, I might let you pick your own (it depends on how you would like your partner to be chosen). I will post all partnerships on this thread.

4. Your partner will pick out books from the list you posted for you to read. If they aren't picked by the end of Saturday, I will pick the books for you.

From June 1 to June 15:
5. Try to finish all the books your partner chose for you.
*If you would like, you can post a review for that book in our new reviews thread to tell us what you thought of it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

**NOTE**

You may post your lists either on here or you may post a link to a bookshelf dedicated to the challenge.

joanne (cabeswaters) @ Athena and Shrishti, re: Power of Five, I have no idea which one's which, I have no idea what happened, I simply got my friend to read Oblivion and tell me what happens. Was too thick for my liking anyway. I did the same with Rise of Nine

You're allowed to read any books you like during the challenge, but the books your partner will choose will be your reading goal for the two weeks.

Do you mind adding three more books to your list? I said before that the list must be twice the goal (so your partner will have a lot of books to choose from).
