My name is Keith. I am from Canada. I am pursuing an IT degree, but I am passionate about history and philosophy. My main interest is 18th century European, especially French, history; however, I am willing to read well written history books outside of that time and place. I am reading the following:




It's slow at the start, but becomes enthralling after the Islamic occupation of Spain. The most recent chapters I've read, dealing with the machinations of the Popes and the rise of Charlemagne, have been excellent.

Hello, I'm Dave. I'm retired and live in the Pittsburgh metro area.

I have a lot of interest and a little knowledge about a variety of historical topics. I've recently been paying a lot of attention to the Age of European Expansion, WWs 1 & 2, the American & Russian Civil Wars and the Seven Years/French and Indian conflicts with particular interest in non-battle aspects such as politics and logistics.

At some point in the near future I'd like to get more into East Asian and Sub Saharan topics.

I have been reminded, gently that I must introduce myself to become a full fledged member of this club. I thought I had done it months ago, but apparently not! I am very happy to be here. I have always loved history -- especially Theatre History. In particular, Shakespeare and Chekhov -- and therefore Russian History. One of my favorite genres is Historical Fiction. I also enjoy historical non fiction especially when it is well written, and is well and acurately researched. I have already enjoyed participation in the Presidents discussion -- starting with Thomas Jefferson and now halfway through the Woodrow Wilson discussion. In the world I teach acting and theatre. My father, who was a history teacher in prime school, stimulated my interest in history from very early in my childhood. (As well as my sons ditto. If everything goes as planned and the marks can carry him he will study history at the university of Copenhagen from next year :-)

My main area of interest is combat aviation 1935 - 1975 with focus on WWII and the Vietnam War. (And with naval aviation as my favorite subject)

I am not 'padlocked' to those subjects though. The German occupation of Denmark is something I read fairly much about as well as the Cold War, politics and smaller armed conflicts in the period.

Actually anything that tickles my curiosity in what I read, see mentioned in e.g. magazines or see here at Goodreads ;-)

My interests in history are varied; for the past several years have been mostly reading World War II books, but I also love scientific history (primarily astronomy and cosmology), British, European, and Roman history. I also enjoy fiction of all types, especially historical fiction and sci-fi.
