Hi, my name is Gabrielle I go by Gab though. I currently reside in Maryland and work at the local library. I enjoy history and archaeology very much and majored in it at college. My favorite periods are the Ancient Near East, Classical and the Middle Ages. Excited to be a part of the group and hoping to expand my interests in other periods as well. Thanks

Welcome, Gabrielle.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. It makes things much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. It also helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link after all of the text of your post at the bottom of the post. Placement at the bottom of the post calls the reader's attention to the book and/or author and increases the readability of your post. This is how a book you might mention should look:

Hello there, my names Nigel and I currently reside in Surrey, UK. I’m a fairly recent member of goodreads and still finding my way around.I’ve worked within the publishing industry for about 30 years and am now semi-retired, allowing me to dedicate a little more time to reading. I mainly read historical fiction and pure history books, usually one alongside the other—these can cover anywhere between the Roman Empire and around the 18th Century.
My historical focus is mostly on the economic/sociological side of things rather than perhaps the military strategic side.
I’m currently reading two pure history books:

Hi, I'm Grant from Wellington , New Zealand, and I have been very entertained by some of the introductions.I am a voracious reader of history when I strike a rich vein that is of interest to me,
I started with The Guns of August back in 1976, and went on to read most of Barbara W. Tuchman's books, and have quarried away at Jan Morris, Robert Massie, Patrick O'Brian, have amassed a collection of books on Everest, sailing, and early Nz History, and recently discovered that my great great great grandfather kept a Journal of his voyage to Otaheite (Tahiti) in 1796-7, which I have had great fun transcribing in the last few months.
But I am keen to pick up guidance on other writers of similar calibre... And I think this will be a good place to meet and discuss the lessons of history, and the insights gained...
Welcome all: Nile daughter, Jenny, Matthew, Emily, Gabrielle, Uzma, Nigel, and Gretchen! Enjoy the discussions.

Hi, I'm Julie, mother of four kids still at home so I don't have a great deal of time to spend on reading, but I love history. I'm mostly interested right now in reading about our early US Presidents and wars. Thanks!
Welcome Julie to the History Club. There is much history on early US Presidents. Unfortunately there are always wars, but it's good to comprehend and recall those who died for freedom along with other heroes who defended liberty.

Welcome Patricia to the History Club. A good friend of mine was a member of the 14th Air Force Flying Tigers during WWII and he was hoping to someday visit the National Museum of the Air Force in Dayton, Ohio not far from your museum. During my visit last year we tried to get clearance to tour Vandenberg Air Force Base (home of the 14th AF today) located near his home, but due to security restrictions we settled for viewing the P-40 through the main gate. Unfortunately my friend passed away several months ago.
