My name is Leslie. I graduated with a bachelor's in History with a Minor in English. I work from home for a realty appraisal company and take care of my toddler son but keep up with my degree by reading biographies as often as I can squeeze it in. I joined this book club for help sifting through all the, less than well written or researched, books out there. I'm hoping that all of you can point me in the right direction. I focused on East Asia when I was in college but now I read anything that is interesting. Thanks so much for being my filters.
My love of history began in childhood - raised in New Orleans, we began to learn French history at age 8. Went on to obtain my first university degree in History, spent 20 years in London and travelled the world. Having lived on 3 continents, I am fascinated with the culture and the people with whom I live. Now I live in the southwest part of the U.S. and read some on Native American history, though Greco-Roman would be my favorite.

Hi, my name is Karina. I`m from Odense, Denmark. I started genealogical research in my mid-twenties and it has brought me many exiting discoverings = opened my eyes to history... And I`m hooked :-) My interests are mainly victorian England (upstairs/downstairs), deportation (America/Australia), monasteries in Europe and Danish country culture... :-)

Hello all, Ken here. I've had a life long affinity for history since I taught myself to read one summer, devouring WWII naval stories at the library. That said I would call myself an occasional tourist, not a true student. My reading tastes are all over the map these days. Escapism via Harry Bosch, Jack Reacher and the like; a bit of Sci-Fi on rare occasions, and early American and WWII history (with an emphasis on the Pacific war). Throw in the odd business or geo-pol volume and you have it. By day I am a construction and operations manager, do a bit of global travel, and "read" mostly via Audible.com. Looking forward to picking the best from your bookshelf down the road and getting acquainted with the group.

Hello!I'm Kate, and have been a bookworm since I learned to read :) A peripatetic childhood meant that I had a great grasp of geography and none at all of history -- I would devour whatever I could get my hands on, and imprinted early on Euripides and Malory, of all people, as well as the more usual Dickens, Scott and other Victorians. At some point I realised that finding out about the original WHEN of these books might be a helpful thing to know, and the rest, as they say....
I still have pretty catholic tastes, but my especial weaknesses right now are quirky microhistories and histories of ideas; times'n'places: early modern Europe, Byzantium and colonial-to-modern-day East Asia. Here to broaden my horizons, though :)

Hello. I'm Ashley and I'm from the USA. My family has a strong military history (myself not included) and it has fostered a love of history in me. I read a lot of military fiction, war fiction, and historical biographies and memoirs. I read a book called "War Letters" by Andrew Carroll back in 2010 and it was an amazing look into the lives of military soldiers and their families. I have a bit of an obsession with war letters and journals. When I'm not reading military or war books I tend to be drawn toward ancient history, typically involving Greece, Italy, Germany and Ireland.
