Fiona, where do you get all your audiobooks? Do you order them or do you download them from a website? I've been getting into more audiobooks recently and was just wondering.

message 302: by Jill (new)

Jill | 32 comments I usually look at the library for audiobooks, since I'm unlikely to listen to them again. Paperbackswap has them for trade but you have to use two credits for an audio book versus just one credit for a book.

message 303: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) I get mine from Library or Ebay. I tend to use library copies more as they cost £1.10 for 3 weeks and my friend's cost her £2 for 3 weeks as well.

message 304: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been getting mine at the library, but usually it's because the book I want isn't available right away in hardback. I will have to go around and actually look through the audiobook section and see what they have.

message 305: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Never rated The Lost Symbol last nite, cos I couldn't get into it. Maybe his last 1 I just can't understand. Might need to read it instead of listening to.

Pollyanna (polly8) I'm reading Claimed By Shadow by Karen Chance at the moment. I bought this before I read Touch the Dark and if I had known what that would have been like, I wouldn't have bought this one. I will give it a chance but I found Touch the Dark quite a hard book to get into and this one seems to be the same so far.

message 307: by [deleted user] (new)

Jo, how do you like Shiver so far? It sounds really good. I would have picked it up already if I wasn't trying to go through my TBR at home before getting into any new books.

message 308: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha yeah, I will get around to it.

Abbie (abbiebum) | 205 comments Ok Fiona i have a strange question. I saw where you used a pound symbol when you were talking about audio books. Do you have that on your keyboard in Europe?

To be honest, I never even think that neither x

message 313: by [deleted user] (new)

That's so awesome. It makes sense that the UK keyboards would include those symbols.

I am reading Fire by Kristin Cashore. I am enjoying her fantasy books. Next I will be reading Wicked Witch & Curse.

I am curious about those two books Linda Grace have to keep us all updated! Ummm also no pound symbol on my keyboard talking only in $dollars$ for me. I dont even have a cents symbol!!

message 315: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha I don't have a cents symbol either. I've looked for one before and the only I have found I can get a cents symbol is by going to Microsoft Word, adding the symbol and copy/pasting it.

I am loving Fire. I would say I like it better than Graceling, but I read that book a while ago and so I am keeping these two books completely separate in my mind (not going to compare them). I will say that if you liked Graceling, then for sure you will like Fire because of the author's writing style. If you haven't read either yet and you like a good fantasy book, then for sure you should pick up either/both! :D

message 316: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (abbiebum) | 205 comments I can't wait to read Cathing fire! i just have to get a hold of it. I asked my english teacher about the pound symbol and she said startd telling me about how one time she saw a German keyboard. it had no "Q" and some other letter. it's weird when you think about it.

message 317: by [deleted user] (new)

Catching Fire was really good. I bought mine at the local Wal-mart because the library was going to take a while to get it and then there were already 8 people ahead of me for the 1 library copy.

message 318: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 4 comments I agree buying catching fire is not a risk! If you liked hunger games your a hopeless fan already :P

message 319: by [deleted user] (new)

Totally hopeless. I am going to end up buying all of her books, I just know it.

message 320: by Karla (new)

message 324: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Will finish The Lost Symbol - Dan Brown & The Quickie - James Patterson & Michael Ledwidge today.

message 325: by [deleted user] (new)

Reading Wicked Witch & Curse. I finished Witch and am now reading Curse. They are okay, but a little too much of the bad witchcraft and not enough of the magic in a good light.

message 326: by [deleted user] (new)

Jo, what do you think of City of Bones? I enjoyed that series. Actually, I guess a better way to say it would be: I breezed through that series! I finished all 3 in like a week. I'm glad I didn't have to wait for the sequels to come out because I probably wouldn't have picked them up. :) I liked the series as a whole, from start of book 1 to end of book 3. However, there were a lot of parts in between that, if I stopped reading the books there, I would have hated the series... let me know what you think.

message 327: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, it gets a lot easier! Let me know what you think when you get more into it. :)

message 328: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

message 334: by David (new)

David Dail Right now I am re reading Comstock Load by Louis L'amour but I have The Mayor of Lexington Avenue on deck.

message 335: by [deleted user] (new)

David, is there a certain type of book that you tend to read the most?

message 336: by David (new)

David Dail Usually I read something based on my mood. I get in grooves where I will read 5 or 6 of a certain genre. Lately its been westerns but my tastes are really all over the place.

Christa (is on top of the world!) (obsesedwbooks) | 17 comments I just started reading The Dark River by: John Twelve Hakwks.

message 338: by Jill (new)

Jill | 32 comments I just started The Perfect Christmas and then I have Hunger Games to read from the library.

That's awesome. I have never read a western, but not because I don't like them. I just have never thought about it before. Do you have any favorites in the western fiction genre? I would really like to see what I think about this genre! :)

message 340: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished Something Borrowed and am going to finish The Van Alen Legacy today. I think I might start Narnia next, but I might finish House of Night first. Don't know yet.

message 341: by Jill (new)

Jill | 32 comments Jo, how do you like Hush, Hush? I had a really hard time putting that one down!

I love the simplicity of Louis L'amour the good guy always wins, the hero always gets the girl, not realistic but comfortable, good action with a hint of romance, for something more realistic or gritty I like Ralph Compton I would recommend either author for western fiction, or Larry McMurtry's Lonesome Dove.

message 343: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla VdL (dunnopris) yay. finally i can read :)...
Finished reading Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer (really enjoyed it)

NOw I'm reading a really interesting book (Spanish)

message 345: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah22) I just started Lament by, Maggie Steifvater. So far it is a really amazing book. I really keeps ya hooked :D

Priscilla VdL (dunnopris) finished reading "Marianela by Benito Perez Galdos" (interesting)
Reading "El tunel by Ernesto Sabato"

message 347: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Having such a slow month so far. So I am still reading The Colour of Heaven - James Runice.

message 348: by Abbie (new)

Abbie (abbiebum) | 205 comments Ick I have to read Lord of the Flies for School. The plot is pretty good but Goldstein drones a bit...

message 349: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't like Lord of the Flies. There are so many better books we could be reading for school. I think schools should assign some classic novels and some newer ones instead of using all older books. Just because they are old doesn't make them better!! :)

I am reading Chosen.

message 350: by Fiona (Titch) (new)

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Finished The Colour of Heaven - James Runcie. Now I am gonna read Poor Little *** Girl - Jackie Collins.
