Jessi (jessim) I'm currently reading Uglies. It is not a book I would typically pick up, but I have heard a lot of people talking about it, so I wanted to check it out. I am only a few chapters in, but so far it is pretty good, really funny.

I read that last month and wasn't overly impressed. BUT I think it's because I'm in the middle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood & kept making comparisons. I'm thinking when I'm caught up with BDB I'll read it the rest of the series & avoid making comparisons. I've heard it's a great series.

I have Murder of Angels on my To-Read shelf but didn't realize it's part of a series... What's the first book of the series??? I hate it when I start in the middle (or the end as I have done before too)

message 64: by Diane (new)

Diane | 6 comments Shanon the first book is Silk by Caitlín R. Kiernan , it is set 10 years before Murder of Angels and is also very good. The cover of my book is different than what is on GR, it is much darker and has the same woman on it as Murder does.

I will be starting this tomorrow. I am looking forward to this series. I read part of Book 2 and loved the set-up of characters and world.

I just started Windfall by Rachel Caine. It's the 4th book in her Weather Warden series and I LOVE this series. It is probably the most unpredictable and unique series I have yet to read.

I finished Magic In the Blood - a great book & a promising new series. I can't wait until the next one comes out 11/09. At least it's not a year long wait like with most of my series.

I'm listening to Fragile Eternity by Melissa Marr and am loving the series.

I think next I'll start Lover Revealed. I've had a string of dark books & am in need of a hot PNR!

message 95: by Susan (new)

Susan (ofearna) re-reading Blue Adept by Piers Anthony...

message 96: by Dori (new)

Dori (adorible) | 17 comments I listening to the Harry Potter series (again) in amongst some other books. I just finished The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester and absolutely adored it. Not sure what I'm starting on next...I haven't picked which is why I'm listening to HP.

message 97: by ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (last edited May 22, 2009 09:22PM) (new)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Which HP Dori are you listening to?

I was going to listen to the final HP book, Deathly Hallows on CD from the library. It's 21 hours! I figured I'd rather read it if it was going to take that long. At the moment I'm about a fourth of the way through my 5th or 6th reread of Goblet of Fire. And right now taking a break from that to read Quidditch Through the Ages (Property of Hogwarts Library).

message 98: by Dori (new)

Dori (adorible) | 17 comments I'm currently listening to the 3rd book. I've listened to all of them several times (in addition to reading them) and I just love Jim Dale's voice. I don't worry about the length of audiobooks because I can do something else while I'm listening. If I can get a book on audio, I usually try to. As long as the reader is decent, I'm happy.
I want to get the UK audiobook versions with Stephen Fry as the narrator because I love him, too (my mom bought me an alarm clock with his voice--it's great). Has anyone read the UK versions of HP? I bought them last year, but I haven't read them yet because I keep listening instead. I was just wondering if the differences were mainly in the vernacular. My mother was under the impression that there were other differences as well...

message 99: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne i didn't know they were different::i'm in the UK::i'll ask around::i know a couple of huge HP fans::

Kim Harrison is one of my favorite authors! Her Hollows series is probably tied for my #1 Favorite series with Sookie - though that changes on a regular basis :). Her new series is getting released in June & I'm reading Prom Nights from Hell to get ready. Her story is an introduction to the characters in Once Dead, Twice Shy. I'm just a little excited for another series from Harrison!
