IGGPPC : Iggle BookWorms discussion
What are you currently reading?

I have an unhealthy addiction to buying used books, so I am currently reading:
The Girl in the Polka Dot Dress
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie
Shadow Hunter
The Geography of Bliss: One Grump's Search for the Happiest Places in the World
And the Mountains Echoed
Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster
and, for the seventh time,
Jane Eyre.
I may or many not have a problem...
I need some sci-fi and fantasy suggestions, though! :D Anyone have any?

I could go on and on with some recs lol, is there any particular genre or theme in sci-fi and/or fantasy that you're into or that you've read and want to read something similar from? =) (Btw, been meaning to re-read Jane Eyre xD)
I've started reading Lauren Graham's
Someday, Someday, Maybe, Jose Fuentecilla's Fighting from a Distance: How Filipino Exiles Helped Topple a Dictator and...well, I'm still sort of staring at my to-read pile. I'm hankering for a sci-fi or fantasy novel to read myself, lol
Just started Wool by Hugh Howey for the Sword and Laser book club. Interesting read, so far. Also about to start the Thrawn trilogy from Star Wars. Any Star Wars fiction fans out there?

I'd really recommend VDtD, some of the writing is beautiful and it has a really vivid atmosphere.

I'm starting A Game of Thrones too! I've heard SO MUCH about it, I feel like I can't avoid it anymore. ;)

I heard good things about The 5th Wave from other book bloggers, hope you enjoy it!
Christine & Katie - Hope you guys enjoy ASoIaF! =)
I am currently reading Ellis Peters' The Holy Thief, D.J. McIntosh's The Book of Stolen Tales and Edward Rutherfurd's London

I read quite a bit of Game of Thrones, but didn't get a chance to continue, but it's very good! I just got the box set for my birthday, so I'll go back to reading it soon. Have you watched any of the series? :)

- Philip H Pfatteicher's Journey Into the Heart of God: Living the Liturgical Year (slowly getting through this ARC)
- Katharine Britton's Little Island (this novel's moving pretty slowly IMO but I'm determined to finish this ARC)
- Matt Fraction's Hawkeye, Vol. 2: Little Hits (loving this! I love the art and how he writes Hawkeye)
- Ian Thornton's The Great & Calamitous Tale of Johan Thoms: How One Man Scorched the Twentieth Century But Didn't Mean To (just started this ARC)
- David Whitaker's Doctor Who And The Crusaders

That's good to hear! I've only read The Virgin Suicides by that author (amazing read, had me pondering quite a bit) but fellow book bloggers have been recommending his other works for some time now xD I hope to get around to them sometime soon! lol
Elizabeth wrote: "Right now I'm reading Atonement for school; after I finish I plan on starting Divergent and A Game of Thrones."
How are you finding Atonement? It's one of my top favourite novels =)
Alyssa wrote: "I just started Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. It reminds me of the Passion Study trilogy by Maria V. Snyder which my sister and I loved. I also just finished Resistance by Owen Sheers and Outlan..."
How did you find Owen Sheers' Resistance? I read it last year (after hearing it was adapted into a movie with Andrea Riseborough) and absolutely loved it (though I had to ponder on the ending for a bit, lol)
I started really getting into Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo and am loving it so far! A lot of the characters are pretty complex, I love it!

I really liked Resistance. Sheers' premise was very interesting and believable (thanks to good research). The way each character was written made me really connect with them. Sarah's longing for her husband, Wolfram's desire to escape death, and Maggie's strength all seemed very realistic. While the ending did taking me a few reads to get my head around in the end I agreed with Sheers' choices.
My infatuation with history started with books like Summer of My German Soldier, and this in a very vague way reminded me of Greene's work. I liked the humanization of the German soldiers, and the wavering morality shown by Germans and British characters.
I didn't know it was made into a movie, but I like Andrea Riseborough, and the trailer makes it seem like it mostly follows the book. I'll have to check it out when I get some time.

Same here, I really enjoyed the writing and the internal aspects of the character conflict. I normally don't read alternate history fiction but I really enjoyed this one.
I have yet to see the movie myself as well but I think it does look like a faithful adaptation too (I only found out about it, and subsequently the book, because Tom Wlaschiha starred in it playing Albrecht).
Elizabeth wrote: "I just finished it, I really enjoyed it! That ending though.....OMG the feelings. ;uuu;"
Yeah, that ending is quite a kick in the emotions ;_; I must've read this book several times now and it still provokes more or less the same reaction in me, lol

Bertie's Guide to Life and Mothers (by my favourite, Alexander McCall Smith)
Disgrace (by Jussi Adler Olsen)
and...
Cuckoos Calling (by Robert Galbraith AKA J.K. Rowling - oooh can't wait!)
BUT what's drawing my attention away is A Storm of Swords (Blood and Gold), book III of Game of Thrones. I'm absolutely enthralled. It's been so long (since Harry Potter, I'd say) since I got so wrapped up in a book and engrossed in the twists and turns of the characters. Yep, I'm currently reading OFTEN. Haha.

I'm then going to finishThe Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism

I'm then going to finishThe Reason I Jump...
Alexis! Let me know what you think of Allegiant when you finish it!
Also, has anyone read Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson? I just finished it yesterday, and it was WONDERFUL. Highly recommend!

I love Eleanor and Park!
