Yes, it's a new blog post by Josh. And yes, it has something to do with Goodreads and us. And lurve, of course! :-)

My husband and his friends had a tradition... the Valentines Day that fell during the time all the couples were engaged did not celebrate Valentines Day. We actually are all still married - it was supposed to bring us good luck and all that. It will be 23 years this year :)

It's a little crazy, isn't it? Posting all those nice things people have said. :-D
But it also was unexpectedly...centering? It was like a okay, yes. Right. THIS is the reason I do this.

yes, as great as it is for you to get these stories out it is such an incredible pleasure for me to enjoy them :) I know as a reader you can totally relate but both Elliot and Adrien touched me so much and it doesn't really happen that often.
Positive reader comments are the food that fills a writer's soul. Along with other things, too, of course. I enjoy going back and rereading the fanfic reviews I got, and they always make me feel better. :-D

Thank you for telling us. dear Sabine!
Have a nice weekend!

Of course they are! I'm better now than I've ever been. Or at least I care less about what the world around me thinks. ;)

Thank you, Johanna! Lists are always fun - I saw an A to Z list in another group, that's a nice way to get to know people!

Oh gosh how fun! Thank you for posting the link!
Great blog post from Josh — she interviews S.C. Wynne, Felice Stevens, C.S. Poe and David Warner about writing, publishing, m/m genre...
http://joshlanyon.blogspot.fi/2016/03...
When you get to the end of the blog post, be sure to click yourself to the 'Not Your Usual Suspects' where the interview continues.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's answers and, as always, I find it wonderful and inspiring how supportive Josh always is towards fellow authors.

I found their answers so interesting. And it confirms my feeling that successful writers have a certain mindset. Optimism and idealism mixed with pragmatism and open-mindedness.
I was also relieved to see their attitude toward KU, which I continue to believe is short sighted and ultimately disastrous for all authors, ESPECIALLY the ones who rely on it so heavily now.

A new blog post from Josh "And I'M Offended That YOU'RE Offended That I'm Offended".

What I find interesting is that these days we have better tools for discussion and much more information readily available to support our points in the arguments we make...and it's much easier to find an audience for what we want to say. And the end result is it seems harder and harder to accept it when we aren't able to convince the other side.
But not being able to convince the other side is kind of a constant in human interaction given that we are often asking the other side to go against what they perceive to be their self interest--AND given that the more passionate and emotional people are, the less likely it is that they will change their position.
Maybe it's generational. I don't know. But now days, no matter the topic, every discussion feels like people are arguing religion.
Which...if you've ever tried arguing religion with friends who have strong religious or anti-religious feelings, you know how that goes.

And the thing is, you're never going to be able to change the mind of the other side. So vehemently arguing is just wasting everyone's time. And energy.
BtW, I want cupcakes for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Just not every day. *grin*

A wise and truthful post. And maybe it is futile to argue against that torrent of stupidity, hatred and good old fashioned rudeness we constantly find filling every corner of the interwebs, but I for one welcome every sane and thoughtful message.

Oh well. It's kind of like advertising. The potential customer has to hear the message for a while before it sinks in.

That's why I unfollow a lot of people. I have several on time-out until the election just so I don't get inundated with political crap. Even if I agree, I don't want doom and gloom 24/7.

I still think if we could just argue ideas and not personalities.
But the difficulty with that is we identify so strongly with our ideas. And we identify others so strongly with their belief systems.
Like the words "Republican" or "Democrat" probably conjure up an instant, even if a little vague, image of the what we think a Republican is.
Or -- a better example would be Socialist. So many people in this country, even in this day and age, still have such peculiar ideas of what being a socialist means. Don't even recognize the fact that some of our most popular and treasured institutions are socialistic in nature.
Anyway, BEST OF ENEMIES popped up in my Watch Next list and I realized that this idea of arguing ideas and not personalities is probably a dream given that you couldn't have two better educated or more articulate men arguing opposing viewpoints -- political ideas and ideals -- and it grew more and more personal for them with each of them viewing the other as the enemy of everything they most valued.

That's slated for after I finish the Scottish book. I think I have a couple of months before I start Fair Chance. Or maybe I'm getting confused now. It is all definitely starting to run together.

Exactly what I thought. It would be cool if some of those new-to-Josh readers would win.
Oh, and I also agree that it would be so neat to have a signed Josh Lanyon book some day! :-)
