I just wanted to thank Josh for the cider wassail, because Alexis Hall (the one which is not Santino Hassel ;-)) posted one but with beer. And I kedt thinking I had to get one with cider.

I used to live with a doctor during studies and you would not believe how many ailments you can cure with hot beer! Or maybe she invented this because she knew how much I loathed the stuff?? Anyway, very often it worked. But for Wassail I would definitely go with cider!

4 x 500ml bottles of beer (dark ale for preference)
450g dark brown sugar
1 nutmeg
Sprinkle of ginger
4 glasses sweet sherry
3 slices lemon
3 triangles of toasted bread spread with cinnamon
Lemon quarters to garnish
Pour two bottles of the beer into a casserole dish and warm.
Add the sugar, stirring until it dissolves.
Grate in the nutmeg and and add the ginger.
Pour in the sherry and the rest of the beer, then the lemon.
Sweeten with extra sugar if needed.
Float the toast triangles on top and serve garnished with lemon quarters.

Oh no! But I've been hearing people are having difficulty with the site. I tried to eliminate all the security ID stuff but it doesn't appear to have helped. :-(
It's good to know it's appreciated though. It's getting huge traffic but very few comments, so you do always wonder. :-D

That's why I eventually stopped posting comments to blogs, because of all the signing in in twelve different places I had to do.
