If they stick to the book then I'm fine I just don't want it to end up like TMI.

Oh my god. Seriously, guys. You all need to stop complaining about TID possibly being sabotaged. I mean, yeah, there is the chance of it going awry, but I'm pretty sure everyone has dreamed for the story to come to life. If they did happen to go through with it, it could either go just as we'd hoped, or it could get tipped down the drain hole, in which case it'd most likely be cancelled, thus you not having to scream at the television every time it comes on. Same would happen if it were made into a movie.
I honest;y didn't like the movie and they have a really low budget for City of Ashes so I think that if that one is successful then they should make it. Because they might lose a lot of money
I'm just too scared that they are going to ruin the books for me so I refuse to watch any of the Mortal Instruments or Infernal Devices. But each to their own.
I'm also worried about who they would cast. Because in City of Bones I wasn't a big fan of who they cast as Jace. And I hope they will stick to the book as best as they can.
Well it would be great if they choose the right cast and follow the book .. ESPECIALLY Will, Tessa & Jem .. actually, all characters are unique and together make this awesome Trilogy .. If they get it right it would be super amazing *.* ..I didn't read TMI yet, but I watched City of Bones and it was a total disappointment! 'cause apparently it was nothing related to the book ..
I'm beyong excited for this film. This is my absolute favorite series of all time, and I'm happy to see that it is advancing towards the big screen. HOWEVER, this is a series that many fans hold dear and many people say doesn't need to be made a movie to show how outstanding it is. One of those stories that is so well written, it should stay that way. Some characters are simply irreplaceable. I agree with that 100%, because I also do not want my image of this series ruined my a film. Consequently, I think that the key to leveling out both sides of the spectrum (those that want to see it be made a movie and those that don't), is to make sure that the actors chosen for the roles in the film are really thought out. The events in the books take place in the Victorian Era, a time itself that would take getting used to, as well as there has to be a bond between the actors in the film, to bring out the magical bond that the characters share in the book.In my opinion, Douglas Booth would be the perfect Will, because he has the emotional, humorous, and fierce aspect that characterize Will. I've seen him in some films like Great Expectations where he played Pip's role. This movie is not only set in the Victorian Era like in the Infernal Devices, but also emotionally similar in that, the chracter has internal and external conflicts to face. He was also Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. I think Douglas has had a lot of experience in these sorts of films, and he's also physically similar to Will's descriptions in the books.
I think Will is a very important and highly emphasized character of the book, and needs a very strong and emotional actor to bring out Will's personality.
As for Tessa, I always thought Astrid Frisbey would be the perfect actress for this role not only for her looks, but also because I've seen her ability to work well in the conditions required to bring out Tessa's personality. There are quite a few actresses out there that have her strong and heroine personality, so I doubt Tessa will be wrongly assigned a role, but we shall all hope for the best.
I highly emphasized these characters, because they have such a huge part in the series, that without the proper actors can not be brought out.
I just want to say, this is MY personal opinion. I do not mean to offend or make anyone angry. I just really wanted to share my views about this topic. I'm a very hard-core fan (as you can all tell) and want to see it be made a phenomenal movie that never forgets how important the characters are.
I LOVE DOUGLAS BOOTH! I LOVED HIM IN GREAT EXPECTATIONS! But with his cheekbones I thought he'd be a good Jem, and Max Irons for Will.

Now that you mention I can see it! Douglas would be a pretty good Jem. I just always envisioned Will looking like Douglas. It's like seeing the character of a book come to life. Haha xD

The characters in my mind are just so specific and I really don..."I hated the TMI adaption as well! I honestly was expecting something a bit better, but I was very disappointed.
The reason why I think this series has potential to be made into a movie, is because there are great actors out there I think would fit the characters well. But if anything, I totally agree with you. Would hate to ruin my perfect image of the Infernal Devices by a bad movie.
I think TMI adaption went awry because they targeted a young age group. The books are dark - really dark - and I didn't get that from the movie.
I think that if they get a good script and a good director, everything will be fine. I watched TMI with my friends and a lot of them didn't know what was going on. It's best if the viewer knows what's going on in the movie, even though he/she hasn't read the series yet. I want to see it as a film just to see who gets casted. Because, everyone has a different image of the characters and its interesting who gets picked. Sometimes, it's spot on and other times, its like.. "WTH This person is NOT what I expected."
I agree with what you guys said completely! TMI really portrayed something different from what the movie was showing. And when it comes to casting, there's always going to be various views on who gets picked, but we'll see. It would be amazing if TID fans got together and voted for the best actors to fit the roles!
It's going to take A LOT for me to even like the movie considering the books are so great, so I have no expectations. I just wish them the best of luck with everything! And I'm just hoping its not twilight-disappointing.

omg i cant wait!!i really hope they keep the same cast though... so we'll see the same magnus and stuff
I don't know. Should I be happy? I'm dying inside that there would be no new Shadowhunter Chronicles until next year, and I've always wanted to see a movie on The Infernal Devices. But I get the feeling the movie isn't going to live up to be half as beautiful as the books. Though I would very much rather a movie than a TV show - I do not like TV shows.
If they found a really good director, then I would probably watch the movie:) Steampunk reminds me of Tim Burton. Or the person who directed Underworld.

I think that Tim Burton would be a wonderful director, but I'm still kind of in the middle of how I feel about a Infernal Devices movie.

It's true I heard about the movie first, but I choose to read the books first for I know that Books always and forever better than movie. Whe..."I agree with u ....they made Valentines character like he wad Johnny Depp by him i mean Jack Sparrow and not like the one described in the book...and then there was Jace Jamie Campell Bower did not protray his character well...if TID is going to be a movie Cassie should choose directors which made Harry Potter movies...
Did you guys see the official book trailer for Clockwork Princess? I reckon the three in there are pretty much the best cast one could find for Will, Jem and Tessa. I'm dying to know who the actors are in that trailer, if anyone knows, tell me and I WOULD LOVE YOU!
WOW...Normally I am all for my beloved books going to the big screen, but after seeing what was done to COB, i really don't think I wanting them touching TID. It's to precious....I'm afraid!!!!!!
Pauline wrote: "Nurlely wrote: "No thank you. Let TID be just the books. Look who they chose as Jace. The talented but totally not stunningly-handsome Jamie."Oh, I thought I was the only one who thought the cast..."
BAH! Agreeeee so much! That casting just kind of ruined it for me...Jamie is great...but he's just my Jace...Now I am terrified about what may happen to Will & Jem & even Tessa...aye!
Risa wrote: "WOW...Normally I am all for my beloved books going to the big screen, but after seeing what was done to COB, i really don't think I wanting them touching TID. It's to precious....I'm afraid!!!!!!"Yeah dude I totally agree!
I don't think I could handle them changing TID the slightest bit, I'm the biggest fan....:(
oh I love the idea however I think that they have to do it well because this books are the best that I have read. That is a very good opportunity to make a very good film. I hope it will be like I imagine. I cross my fingers.
I was hoping this book series would be turned into a TV show and not a movie. I know that they're probably going to screw it up like I heard they did with COB (but I've not read the books nor seen the movie). If they do make it a movie, I'll probably see Clockwork Angel but if they mess it up I'm not going to bother.
I an kind of cool with it but it better be a lot like the book! I love Jem and I want to see who they will choose to act him.
Yes, I think like you because I love very much Jace and the actor who characterize him isn't the guy that I imagine. I will like that they will choose better actors.
...Actually I don't think he's too ugly, but for being Jace he's and to help the film is awful too and Simon doesn't turn into a rat!!!
althuogh the film was good the final was horrible. It finished in a diferent way that the book. I can't believe it when I saw it
Nooooo :OThey can't ruin one of my favorite stories with a bad movie!!!
And Will?! No one can be perfect for his role!
Guys, there isn't going to be a ID TV series. Cassie sold the rights for all her books over to the film company back when CoB was being adapted, but there hasn't been any official news on The Infernal Devices.
I have trouble casting Will because i have literally never so much as seen anyone as beautiful as that. I don't even have a perfect image of him in my head. It's sorta like a fuzzy picture with all his striking features ^^
I think Ian Somerharder is perfect for him, just a bit older, like, high cheekbones , blue eyes, hair as black as ink, and that body.. Mmm
