Paige Yin I wish gaspard ulliel will be cast as Will, cause he's just so perfect!

message 152: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman Will - Max Irons. Tessa - Nina Dobrev. Jem - ... I'm not too sure :/

Eleanor Ugh no i really hope they don't make it into a movie. I need it to just stay a book because it won't turn out how i imagined it

Amberrlaurenn Faria wrote: "NO THE INFERNAL DEVICES WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO PORTRAY AS A MOVIE! IT WILL JUST SEEM LIKE SOME STUPID LOVE TRIANGLE WHEN IT IS MUCH MORE AND THEY WILL NEVER GET PARABATI RIGHT AND IT WILL BE RUINED ..."

i totally agree with you it is so not fair!! And then we'll be heartbroken and then no one will appreciate the will and jem thing like they do in the movie!! it cant turn into a sucky twilight thing god no i forbid it.

Amberrlaurenn if they do not do an epilouge the same as in the book i am going to kill stephanie!!!!

Jessica i honestly would be a lot more excited about a tv show :/....

Rhiannon Yes! They should put as much effort into a tv show as the do with GOT, then it would be good. Dont want star actors because I dont think any of them are right, just have nobodies that can play them perfectly. If they are going to do it they have to do it well else they wish to unleash the wrath of the fandoms!

Well, I do like the idea of Max Irons as Will or Willa Holland or Sarah Bolger playing Tessa. However, for the rest I think that unknowns would be awesome as a lot of the characters, especially Jem or Cecily

message 160: by Dillon (last edited May 23, 2014 04:45AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dillon O Flynn Having TMI made into a movie already ruined the book for me because I had my own image inside my head of Clary, and Lily Collins is like a long lost twin of my cousin. She looks exactly like her. Completely ruined the characters images for me. I do not want that to happen again with TID. Although a movie would be great, I want to keep my images of Tessa, Will & Jem. They will obviously have to use the same person for Magnus as they did in TMI!

message 161: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman Tessa? She wasn't in CoB.

message 162: by Dillon (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dillon O Flynn Woops got a bit mixed up there. Thanks for telling me. Clary! My image of Clary is ruined!!!!

message 163: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman I was so looking forward to seeing her beautiful red curls as well! And Jace! My god! His hair was just awful.

message 164: by Dillon (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dillon O Flynn I wouldn't have much to say about Jace's "Hotness" MissMorgenstern (nice name by the way) and Dominque, but in the books he did seem to have more of a personality than in the movie. In the movie he seems to be slightly emotionless and sickening.

message 165: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman I'm Sebastian's little sister :)

Jamie basically is Jace. I have watched several interviews and Jamie's personality is identical to Jace's. If Jamie had harnessed some of his inner-sassiness into the character of Jace, he would have seemed less robotic and more realistic.
But there was barely any of the Herondale humour in the movie. Apart from "Have a little faith" and "I did just save your life" and "And my hair is naturally blonde, just for the record."
It wasn't just Jace either. If Lily had red hair and wore green contacts, it wouldn't have been so bad. She did impersonate Clary's fiery personality quite well, and the fact that she was a fan of the books beforehand gave her that extra passion toward the characters.
I loved Robert as Simon. Maybe he was a bit too hot, because in CoB Simon wasn't exactly a hot dude! He was more geeky than Robert's character, and a lot more immature. I was so looking forward to rat-Simon, and I was so angry in the cinema when it didn't happen. I was like "What! I wanted him to turn into a rat! How else is he supposed to bite Raphael and turn into a vampire? He's not going to spontaneously walk up to his capture and give him a love bite on his neck, is he?"
Kevin was a great Alec! The blue eyes, black hair, stubborn personality. He was the whole package.
Godfrey as Magnus. I have a bone to pick with him - not literally, because that would just be weird! Godfrey looked like Magnus, like the freewheeling-glittering-bisexual warlock that he is, but is acting was just awful. He sounded bored, and he didn't breathe between words, so they just slurred together until they meant absolutely nothing. It was as if he was reciting a play! Maybe not even that. What I did love though was when he walked out with no pants. That was Magnus-y. And his eyes were gorgeous!
And then there was Lena as Jocelyn. Okay, I dislike Jocelyn in the books, for what she did to Clary and she is still doing to Clary with being the overprotective mother she is, but I really liked Lena as her. She was really badass, with the lethal pan and fridge! And her acting was spot on!
Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Valentine was just laughable. I love Jonathan, in August Rush and Dracula, but not as Valentine. Just - no! They have him dreadlocks! If Valentine knew any better, he'd chop off his ponytail because it could have easily been used as a weapon against him: I can just imagine Jace swinging on it like a monkey! And when he came through the portal, he was shirtless!! Of course Jonathan is gorgeous and most women would not be complaining about his being shirtless, but we're talking about Valentine here, not Jonathan. In the books Valentine was always described as wearing a suit or gear, and never once was he shirtless. It's as if Jonathan was marvelling over himself in the dressing room and thought "Hmm. The hair might put them off. But I'm sure my beautiful chest would flatter them and allow me to win the battle when they faint at the sight of me!"
It may seem as though I hated the movie, but I actually liked it. I like anything Mortal Instruments or Infernal Devices related. It's just I love these books so passionately that I really didn't want to see the movie fall on its ass, and that's exactly what it did.

message 166: by Dillon (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dillon O Flynn So right. Valentine was completely ruined for me. Like could they at least put a shirt on him like you said.

message 167: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman He reminded me of Jacob Black in Twilight. Like "Doesn't he own a shirt?"
I just hope they don't mess up with TID. Those books are literally my heart (I sound melodramatic, but who cares?) and if they slip up with the casting - if they cast a sloth for Will and Princess Fiona as Tessa and a Bulldog as Jem, it will destroy me.

message 168: by Dillon (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dillon O Flynn You know, I heard that it might be a tv series. WTF??

message 169: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman I would've thought everyone would be reading CoHF by now.

message 170: by Sasha Ivashkov-Herondale-Jackson (Clarisse) (last edited Jun 15, 2014 12:07AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sasha Ivashkov-Herondale-Jackson (Clarisse) absolutely NO

they cannot find a suitable cast to play the characters and then end up picking somone crap who cannot portray the character and ruin the movie and it will be a flop and ruin the infernal devices like they did with mortal instrument...

maybe if it was an anime then yeh
i mean where are tehy gonna find an actual asian guy who woudl look good with white hair like Jem apart from an anime character.
BUT if by any miracle they can find the perfect Will the perfect Jem and perfect Tessa... then yeh o right ahead.

Georgia It is becoming a TV series. It's being released in 2015

message 172: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman What? :O where have you heard that?

Syd (Sydsbooked) The characters are too complex to be portrayed correctly. How do you portray someone like Will who is haunted by his "curse" every day of his life? How do you portray Jem's sickness? Their thoughts? Emotions? It's all so detailed and intricate it'd be hard to be true to the book.

message 174: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman Every book is made up mostly of the characters thoughts.
Every book has two different sides: the POV, and the 'mystery'.
Look at The Vampire Diaries. Elena is the POV, and the Salvatore Brother's are the mystery. In the TV series, it was stated immediately that Stefan Salvatore was a vampire. Elena, of course, didn't know. And every time we viewers saw them together we were just waiting for something to happen. Mainly we want to see the characters reaction to such a thing.
It can work by allowing the audience to know exactly what the 'mystery' is and keeping it secret from the POV (Elena), or it can work by keeping the mystery from both viewers and POV, in which case there would be a lot of "OHHHH RIGHT"'s when everything makes sense in the end.

Jelly224 Dear people who are making this movie,
I really enjoyed this series. PLEASE dont mess this up for fangirls\boys who enjoyed this series. In other words this means...
DONT USE MOODY UGLY WHINNY ACTORS\ACTRESES WHO DONT KNOW HOW TO ACT!!!!! AKA EVERYONE IN THE TMI MOVIE!!!!
Consider this as very useful advice and not a threat:)

From every TID fan♥

message 177: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman Just to add to that:

Director of TID, please use less, if any, hair gel on chosen Will Herondale. We, fans of the series, do not need another Edward Cullen.

Tracey Dillon wrote: "Having TMI made into a movie already ruined the book for me because I had my own image inside my head of Clary, and Lily Collins is like a long lost twin of my cousin. She looks exactly like her. C..."

I know exactly what you mean. When they cast Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace for the film, I really didn't like the casting as he didn't look at all like 'my Jace'. Then all the way through City of Heavenly Fire I kept picturing Jace as JCB and thinking aagh!! NOT how I pictured him originally. I found that really distracting whilst I was reading.

message 179: by Rhia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rhia Hankle No ): If it's anything like City of Bones then absolutely noooo.

Jelly224 Hey everyone I just found out that they dropped it. They were going to do TID if TMI went well. Turned out... The movie sucked. I'm just really happy. They already ruined TMI, they DO NOT need to ruin TID.

Amberrlaurenn so i think you are almost completely right. First, Kevin Zegers was completely right and i think he is hotter than jamie. I kind of wish Magnus did not have an American accent that ruined it for me in the movie about him, plus he did not have cat-eye contacts the whole time which was annoying because that is supposed to be his warlocks mark. you are right about clary's eyes- they should have been green, and jace's eyes were supposed to be gold. Even though it does not follow the movie i like the vampire scene and i think it would not have been that good if it was just clary in jace like in the book. I also feel like an idiot because my 14 yo cousins asked me to wach the movie and i did - then i found the book. I heard they wanted alex p. to play jace which i am totally agianst. Butthe part of the movie that i hated most was the scene where hodge tells valentinte to lie to clary and jace about them being siblings because it was just ruined if they reveal the whole plot answer!! allso lily is really bad at fake crying and valentine is supposed to have WHITE HAIR NOT BLACK

dissapointing!!

Jelly224 Amber_Herondale wrote: "so i think you are almost completely right. First, Kevin Zegers was completely right and i think he is hotter than jamie. I kind of wish Magnus did not have an American accent that ruined it for me..."

I totally agree. Also Izzy,Alec, & have looked mad through the whole movie. The only thing I loved was Simon<3333 he was great through the whole movie.

message 183: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman Okay, okay.

I know I have stated my opinion a lot on this thread regarding what I thought of the movie.
And as much as I thought Jamie was not 'hot' enough for Jace, it isn't just about who is hot and who is not. There were so much more other reasons why the movie was tipped down the drain.

Aside from the characters themselves and their looks, what really bugged me was that most of what happened in the book actually happened in the movie, but they messed it up by selecting different scenes from the book and shoving them wherever. And it confused me like hell! Like when Clary came through the portal in the book with Jace and wound up at Luke's, and then in the movie it happened nearer the end, without Jace. I know that only happened because it seemed right for it to happen in the movie,, but why couldn't they just stick to the freaking storyline?
Rat-Simon. There was no rat-Simon. Instead they decided to strip Robert shirtless and tie him up like a roleplay. Are you freaking kidding me?
And don't even get me started on Valentine. I love Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I am a massive fan of August Rush and Dracula. But casting him for the role as Valentine was just so, so wrong. He certainly has Valentine's cheekbones and all and his looks, but they decided to give him, like, one dreadlock. Not to mention he decided to make his appearance shirtless! Why shirtless?
I sunk down in my seat at the cinema, because I was honestly so embarrassed that I'd dragged my sister to watch it with me. She said she liked it, but I think she was only saying that to be nice.
The only scene that gave me goosebumps was the kissing scene in the greenhouse. I literally stopped breathing. It was such a beautiful scene, with the music and the blossoming flowers and whatnot, and then the sprinklers came on! I just rolled my eyes.

It was a good movie for those who haven't read the books, but it totally sucked for those who have.

message 184: by Mirou (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mirou Oh please. NO MOVIE. I agree with some of you. This serie is SCARED for me. Although, Joshua Anthony Brand will almost perfect for Will. "Almost" because we have to admit it, WILL HERONDALE CAN'T BE REAL because he is too damn MAGNIFICENT ! *Dreamy sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh*

Dawyn.S. Hunter ok...wow..well honestly making it into a movie is a huge huge risk..but if they are gonna do it..please please pls do us a favour and make the casting amazing..otherwise im heartbroken...and also is it me or suddenly books are starting to become movies all of a sudden i mean :the hunger games, twilight,VA,TMI,the fault in our stars, divergent lke come on seriously...

anyways yeah they better not screw up because this is my ultimate favourte book in the world and i dont want it to be trampled on or glamoured with hollywoods influence....fingers cross

AgCl I THOUGHT THE PLAN FOR A MOVIE WAS CANCELLED A LOOOONG TIME AGO?

message 187: by Naomi (last edited Jun 24, 2014 04:52AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman What, for CoA, you mean?
It was postponed, not cancelled. Basically a script for CoA was strewn together and Cassie read it and said it was too far from the book, so it was postponed to 'get things in order'. Cassie is hearing news of it in the next few weeks.

no, i mean TID.

message 189: by Anum (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anum if they are planning on making the movie then they should make according to the book..not change it like city of bones..i was really disappointed by it...

now i wonder who will play tessa, will and jem??
just a thought ..

message 190: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman Oh, then yeah, the TID project I've heard has been ditched.

Jelly224 AcademyOfInstruments wrote: "Oh, then yeah, the TID project I've heard has been ditched."

Good thing too. I can't imagine that being a movie. TMI was just HORRIBLE. (Besides Simon) Directors can't make book \ movies these days. :(

message 192: by Aliza (new) - rated it 5 stars

Aliza i was really disappointed with the city of bones movie. the more i like a book the more i hate it when the movie deviates and the actors can never measure up to the characters in the book. i don't think anyone can play will the way i see him in my head. as for jace in the movie...i think it was a disaster, i had always pictured him looking more like alex pettyfer. i must say though that lily collins was better then i expected

Harmony True, City of Bones movie was a disappointment to me. Their was a major gap between my high expectations of the movie and the actual movie. I would like to see TID come to life, but I think a TV show would do it justice or as close as it can get. A movie won't be able to capture the brilliance that is TID.

message 194: by Phoebe (new) - rated it 5 stars

Phoebe City Of Bones Movie really a disappointment for me too. It's true I heard about the movie first, but I choose to read the books first for I know that Books always and forever better than movie. When I finished read all the books, I really have a big hope for this movie, but, when I watched it I just can't say anything.

The music were good, the greenhouse scene was my favorite scene overall. I really disappointed with Valentine's character, and I hate it when in The Movie Hodge told Valentine to lie about siblings matter, REALLY?? in the first movie they already told the biggest revelation? (truth is I literally cried a little after knowing that Jace and Clary were brother and sisters, I curse the books though :p)

Also, the movie ruin my imagination for each character :( So, I hope TID will remain in our hearts, please do not ruin TID because I believe everyone have the highest expectation for the Trio. I do not want TID trio will be called something like twilight trio (URGH NO)

well, that's that. I have no bad intention but, I just hope TID will not be ruined.

message 195: by Naomi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Naomi Speakman I think they had to include Hodge telling Valentine to tell Jace and Clary they were related, otherwise if the audience actually believed they were related, it probably would have lost more ratings than it did.

message 196: by Anzen (new) - rated it 4 stars

Anzen It's good but I don't know... I hope they plans this very well and choose the actors for the characters VERY CAREFULLY.

message 197: by Olivia (last edited Jun 26, 2014 09:39AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Olivia OMG NO NO NO. IF THEY RUIN WILL FOR ME I WILL START A HATE CAMPAIGN. I WAS SO WORRIED THIS WOULD HAPPEN

There is literally no actor that can play Will unless they morph the person from the clockwork angel cover

But seriously, I think we've learnt our lesson from the city of bones movie that Cassie's work simply cannot be adapted into film as no actors can portray her wonderful characters

message 198: by Kayla (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kayla I hope they don't destroy it like *cough* Percy Jackson *cough* I was kind of hoping they would just leave it alone because it is perfect just as a book. But I'm still excited but, I don't have high hopes.

message 199: by Inês (new) - rated it 5 stars

Inês its ok UNLESS THEY RUIN THOSE BOOKS AS THEYU RUINED MORTAL INSTRUMENTS T^T

message 200: by Phoebe (new) - rated it 5 stars

Phoebe well, truthfully somewhere in my heart I do hope that TID will become a movie or tv series, but, the crew need to work hard so it won't be like TMI movie.

I agree TID will be a movie or TV Series IF they go along with books.

*well, that's that :)*
