i totally agree with you it is so not fair!! And then we'll be heartbroken and then no one will appreciate the will and jem thing like they do in the movie!! it cant turn into a sucky twilight thing god no i forbid it.

Well, I do like the idea of Max Irons as Will or Willa Holland or Sarah Bolger playing Tessa. However, for the rest I think that unknowns would be awesome as a lot of the characters, especially Jem or Cecily

Jamie basically is Jace. I have watched several interviews and Jamie's personality is identical to Jace's. If Jamie had harnessed some of his inner-sassiness into the character of Jace, he would have seemed less robotic and more realistic.
But there was barely any of the Herondale humour in the movie. Apart from "Have a little faith" and "I did just save your life" and "And my hair is naturally blonde, just for the record."
It wasn't just Jace either. If Lily had red hair and wore green contacts, it wouldn't have been so bad. She did impersonate Clary's fiery personality quite well, and the fact that she was a fan of the books beforehand gave her that extra passion toward the characters.
I loved Robert as Simon. Maybe he was a bit too hot, because in CoB Simon wasn't exactly a hot dude! He was more geeky than Robert's character, and a lot more immature. I was so looking forward to rat-Simon, and I was so angry in the cinema when it didn't happen. I was like "What! I wanted him to turn into a rat! How else is he supposed to bite Raphael and turn into a vampire? He's not going to spontaneously walk up to his capture and give him a love bite on his neck, is he?"
Kevin was a great Alec! The blue eyes, black hair, stubborn personality. He was the whole package.
Godfrey as Magnus. I have a bone to pick with him - not literally, because that would just be weird! Godfrey looked like Magnus, like the freewheeling-glittering-bisexual warlock that he is, but is acting was just awful. He sounded bored, and he didn't breathe between words, so they just slurred together until they meant absolutely nothing. It was as if he was reciting a play! Maybe not even that. What I did love though was when he walked out with no pants. That was Magnus-y. And his eyes were gorgeous!
And then there was Lena as Jocelyn. Okay, I dislike Jocelyn in the books, for what she did to Clary and she is still doing to Clary with being the overprotective mother she is, but I really liked Lena as her. She was really badass, with the lethal pan and fridge! And her acting was spot on!
Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Valentine was just laughable. I love Jonathan, in August Rush and Dracula, but not as Valentine. Just - no! They have him dreadlocks! If Valentine knew any better, he'd chop off his ponytail because it could have easily been used as a weapon against him: I can just imagine Jace swinging on it like a monkey! And when he came through the portal, he was shirtless!! Of course Jonathan is gorgeous and most women would not be complaining about his being shirtless, but we're talking about Valentine here, not Jonathan. In the books Valentine was always described as wearing a suit or gear, and never once was he shirtless. It's as if Jonathan was marvelling over himself in the dressing room and thought "Hmm. The hair might put them off. But I'm sure my beautiful chest would flatter them and allow me to win the battle when they faint at the sight of me!"
It may seem as though I hated the movie, but I actually liked it. I like anything Mortal Instruments or Infernal Devices related. It's just I love these books so passionately that I really didn't want to see the movie fall on its ass, and that's exactly what it did.

I just hope they don't mess up with TID. Those books are literally my heart (I sound melodramatic, but who cares?) and if they slip up with the casting - if they cast a sloth for Will and Princess Fiona as Tessa and a Bulldog as Jem, it will destroy me.

they cannot find a suitable cast to play the characters and then end up picking somone crap who cannot portray the character and ruin the movie and it will be a flop and ruin the infernal devices like they did with mortal instrument...
maybe if it was an anime then yeh
i mean where are tehy gonna find an actual asian guy who woudl look good with white hair like Jem apart from an anime character.
BUT if by any miracle they can find the perfect Will the perfect Jem and perfect Tessa... then yeh o right ahead.

Every book has two different sides: the POV, and the 'mystery'.
Look at The Vampire Diaries. Elena is the POV, and the Salvatore Brother's are the mystery. In the TV series, it was stated immediately that Stefan Salvatore was a vampire. Elena, of course, didn't know. And every time we viewers saw them together we were just waiting for something to happen. Mainly we want to see the characters reaction to such a thing.
It can work by allowing the audience to know exactly what the 'mystery' is and keeping it secret from the POV (Elena), or it can work by keeping the mystery from both viewers and POV, in which case there would be a lot of "OHHHH RIGHT"'s when everything makes sense in the end.

I agree! We should make a campaign haha xx

I really enjoyed this series. PLEASE dont mess this up for fangirls\boys who enjoyed this series. In other words this means...
DONT USE MOODY UGLY WHINNY ACTORS\ACTRESES WHO DONT KNOW HOW TO ACT!!!!! AKA EVERYONE IN THE TMI MOVIE!!!!
Consider this as very useful advice and not a threat:)
From every TID fan♥

Director of TID, please use less, if any, hair gel on chosen Will Herondale. We, fans of the series, do not need another Edward Cullen.

I know exactly what you mean. When they cast Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace for the film, I really didn't like the casting as he didn't look at all like 'my Jace'. Then all the way through City of Heavenly Fire I kept picturing Jace as JCB and thinking aagh!! NOT how I pictured him originally. I found that really distracting whilst I was reading.

dissapointing!!

I totally agree. Also Izzy,Alec, & have looked mad through the whole movie. The only thing I loved was Simon<3333 he was great through the whole movie.

I know I have stated my opinion a lot on this thread regarding what I thought of the movie.
And as much as I thought Jamie was not 'hot' enough for Jace, it isn't just about who is hot and who is not. There were so much more other reasons why the movie was tipped down the drain.
Aside from the characters themselves and their looks, what really bugged me was that most of what happened in the book actually happened in the movie, but they messed it up by selecting different scenes from the book and shoving them wherever. And it confused me like hell! Like when Clary came through the portal in the book with Jace and wound up at Luke's, and then in the movie it happened nearer the end, without Jace. I know that only happened because it seemed right for it to happen in the movie,, but why couldn't they just stick to the freaking storyline?
Rat-Simon. There was no rat-Simon. Instead they decided to strip Robert shirtless and tie him up like a roleplay. Are you freaking kidding me?
And don't even get me started on Valentine. I love Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I am a massive fan of August Rush and Dracula. But casting him for the role as Valentine was just so, so wrong. He certainly has Valentine's cheekbones and all and his looks, but they decided to give him, like, one dreadlock. Not to mention he decided to make his appearance shirtless! Why shirtless?
I sunk down in my seat at the cinema, because I was honestly so embarrassed that I'd dragged my sister to watch it with me. She said she liked it, but I think she was only saying that to be nice.
The only scene that gave me goosebumps was the kissing scene in the greenhouse. I literally stopped breathing. It was such a beautiful scene, with the music and the blossoming flowers and whatnot, and then the sprinklers came on! I just rolled my eyes.
It was a good movie for those who haven't read the books, but it totally sucked for those who have.

anyways yeah they better not screw up because this is my ultimate favourte book in the world and i dont want it to be trampled on or glamoured with hollywoods influence....fingers cross

It was postponed, not cancelled. Basically a script for CoA was strewn together and Cassie read it and said it was too far from the book, so it was postponed to 'get things in order'. Cassie is hearing news of it in the next few weeks.

no, i mean TID.

now i wonder who will play tessa, will and jem??
just a thought ..

Good thing too. I can't imagine that being a movie. TMI was just HORRIBLE. (Besides Simon) Directors can't make book \ movies these days. :(

The music were good, the greenhouse scene was my favorite scene overall. I really disappointed with Valentine's character, and I hate it when in The Movie Hodge told Valentine to lie about siblings matter, REALLY?? in the first movie they already told the biggest revelation? (truth is I literally cried a little after knowing that Jace and Clary were brother and sisters, I curse the books though :p)
Also, the movie ruin my imagination for each character :( So, I hope TID will remain in our hearts, please do not ruin TID because I believe everyone have the highest expectation for the Trio. I do not want TID trio will be called something like twilight trio (URGH NO)
well, that's that. I have no bad intention but, I just hope TID will not be ruined.

There is literally no actor that can play Will unless they morph the person from the clockwork angel cover
But seriously, I think we've learnt our lesson from the city of bones movie that Cassie's work simply cannot be adapted into film as no actors can portray her wonderful characters
