The right cast is a MUST. I mean, look what they did with CoB! I HATED who they picked for Jace, and Clary, and Alec, and Izzy. Simon was a great choice in my opinion.
Back to TID. I would LOVE Max Irons to play Will - he has the looks, the British accent, he can ride horses. Oh God. He is just perfect. Even Cassie said that Max Irons would be a perfect Will. He's a great actor. I loved him in Red Riding Hood and The Host. I'm not so sure who should play Jem - he's a difficult one. Nina Dobrev should play Tessa.
I'm more ok with TID becoming a TV series than a movie. I have no idea why, I guess it just seems more... safe I guess, if that makes sense at all. If it became a movie, I feel like it would be completely ruined, but I feel like a TV show might have a chance. Still, I'm nervous; I don't want it to be ruined!

Since Mortal Instruments was a waste of money I have high doubt they will be making a Infernal Devices movie. I wish they would tho I like the TID series better than the Mortal Instruments.

They have actually begun pre-production of City of Ashes. They decided to make it, and just create more advertising and marketing projects to really spread the word and increase the popularity.

I don't have a lot of hope for a movie, specially after the Mortal Instruments movie.

Where did you get that info from? The worldwide gross of TMI: City of Bones could not cover the budget spent for the movie and marketing.
This is from Cassandra Clare on 1 December 2014.
"There is currently no set start film date for City of Ashes, but Constantin Films plans on shooting sometime in 2014."
They haven't decided anything yet.

I got it from two different sources. 1) http://tmisource.com/the-mortal-instr...
The second was from the imdb website.
This is practically the only thing I do online other than use tumblr, twitter, and Goodreads; look up the statuses of book to movie adaptations, authors, and books.

...or maybe that's the Sherlockian in me talking. I don't know.

The second was from the imdb website.
..."
I see.
Both links said nothing about when they will 'exactly' start the movie production. The first link said 'sometime in 2014' while nothing can be seen in IMDB.
Both links have not been updated since TMI City of Bones sank in the Box Office and they decided to postpone the sequel production.

On IMDB it said it began Pre Prodution and they have both been updated since City of Bones sank in the Box Office.

I think Jamie Campbell Bower was a pretty good choice for Jace. He portrayed him really well. Just because he doesn't look 100% the part doesn't mean he was a bad Jace. Besides, how likely is it that they will find someone exactly how the characters are described? Also, Cassandra Clare helped with the decision of who to cast as Jace. If the author thinks that someone is perfect for the part than who are we to argue?

Yeah...it's sooooooooooooo true!

The last I heard of TID movie adaption was that they were thinking of making it into a TV series. Which would be better, for then Constain Film would not have the opportunity to mess up the cast and the storyline like they did with CoB.

Me too!

I don't think that Jamie was a bad Jace. Cassandra Clare actually had final say so in who to cast as Jace. If she thinks he was a wonderful Jace than why can't everyone? Honeslty; his acting was quite superb.

enough with Mortal Instruments. dont do it to clockwork angel. pleeeaaassseeee don't!

well, Jamie was a fine Jace, except for the scene where Simon caught him and Clary kissing, and he was saying 'go after him and pat his head' line. it looked awkward, the way he kept brandishing his arms.

i totally agree with u i didn't like the the mortal instruments movie it was NOTHING like the book they can't take the infernal devices 2!!!!!!! i love those books!!

its going 2 totally ruin it!!

Sorry, I'd have to disagree.
When I heard Jaime was cast as Jace I screamed "why?!" because, honestly, he ain't "pretty" enough for me. Then there's his body type. Jace has a lean athletic build, and yes, Jaime is lean - but more on the lean-not-really-fit-more-like-what-Simon's-bod-would-be kind of build. If he was portraying a rock star, I'd get it. But he was portraying a young man who was trained to fight at a young age. I mean come-on ever Taylor Lautner took the pains to buff up for the role of Jacob, Jaime could have at least done the same thing.
But even casting "looks" and body-type aside, I was hoping Jaime would at least charm me with his acting. But my golly! He mumbled 85% of his lines, his timing was off, he made Jace come off as a weak secondary character. Even Simon and Alec showed more "attitude" than Jaime.
I'm sure Jaime's a great guy with a great personality, but quite frankly his acting skills leave much to be desired. He tried to play Arthur in the TV series, Camelot, and failed, I tried to give him a 2nd chance in this movie, but even with low expectations, he could not even meet those. The only role he fit perfectly was the role he played in Sweeny Todd - which was creepy-boyfriend-stalker-secondary-character type. If he played a troubled young rock star with substance abuse, I think he'd fit the bill. But hot hero, with a hot head and trigger-happy attitude and a dark past - erm - no, Jaime, just plain no.
I mean no offense to Jaime, but I'm just sayin'.

Learn to see it as a separate thing, it might actually make you feel better about both.

Despite that they've managed to cut and change parts of it to make it all fit and make at least a little sense. They've had to shape it, add things, take things out, change fractions of the storyline. Twilight is different - the story was based strictly on the relationship of Bella and Edward, and really nothing else.
TMI is not as complex as that. I think they've done a damn good job with it despite everything.

Actually, I won't pick up the book if it is not for the movie. City of Bones frustrates me when I pick it up years back, I can't get through Clary's voice, that she annoyed me. Not to mention Jace.... >.> It was the movie which changed my opinion about the whole thing. The first three books of TMI still annoyed me as I read, but because of the movie I was able to get through them, by the second book I was actually hooked on Malec. But you see, somewhat, the movie helped.
Not to mention, some people just decided to buy the whole set of books home before she tried the first book because they think the movie is so awesome (I worked in a bookstore so I know) >.>
And @Clary Speakman I agree with you too. <3

Max Irons is practically Will. Seriously! He's British, gorgeous, and he rides horses.
