What are you reading?

I'm excited to hear what you think of both of these books. Both on the huge TBR list!!

As for Outlander, I have read the first one, and it was just OK for me. I actually didn't mind the detail. It wasn't enough for me to want to read more, but I do want to know what happens. Specifically with (view spoiler) I wish there was a Cliff's notes version of the series available. Maybe I should just check it out on Wikipedia.

Dark Places is going to be a fantastic movie. Like the other books by Gillian Flynn, Dark Places is really disturbing and deals with super painful stuff -- the unimaginable -- and her characters try to figure out how to go on while solving a weird mystery. But it isn't a mystery, it is a story about the characters.

Thank you, Wendy. I did mean it! LOL

I read

So, should we keep going or should I pick up Dark Places? or another of Flynns books?

if you do audiobooks I highly recommend - its a duo narration - Kirby Heyborne and Julia Wheldon

Dee, I have never done an Audio book, I really should get on that. ha! Thanks for the tip.

I tried the audio of that and I couldn't get into it. However, I was very distracted at that point. I plan to try again.

If you are reading a book by her just to try her, then I say read Sharb Objects or Dark Places. If it is for the movie, then like Dee said - just push through and just please remember that her other two books are worlds better.
Stacia, I don't remember when each movie is being released.
Samantha -- I think it may have just been the beginning of the book.

I'm going to try again. I definitely thought it was me at that point.
I saw the movie trailer for

I need to read Divergent. I want to see the movie, so I she read it. Holding me back is how people don't seem to like the sequels?
Funny, both authors of Dark Places/Gone Girl and Divergent live in Chicago. :)

I've seen the mix reviews on the sequel to it but it won't hurt for me to read the first book.

I need to read Divergent too before the movie comes out. Anyone up for a buddy read? Not now but we could set a date.

I was less of a fan of Beyond the Highland Mist and the other few at the beginning of the so called "series". I will be interested to see what you think!

I finished

Everyone seems skeptical about the first two books. If the audio is fantastic, then I plan to do them all in audio.

Should we try to rename the site 'Grrrrrrrr! reads.' LOL
