I'm not reading RDI right now but I probably will be again soon...

message 2: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joelizrado) | 95 comments I am not reading any now either, I must say I am intregued about the loyalty to a publisher...I never really thought about this (I am obviously a novice!) I only thought about authors, when I would find a book I really liked I would just search for other books by the author not the publisher...
I am excited about this, now when I have ready all by the author I can check out other things by the publisher :D
This opens a whole new world for me! Do we have a book of the month? Should we start one?

message 3: by Kristine (new)

Kristine (kc0217) | 335 comments I think we should start one! That way we could make our way through the list.

message 4: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Yay!!! Let's start one!

message 5: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
Sure, we can do that, great idea Joanne!
Should we still try for April or wait until May?
What are some suggestions?

message 6: by Jen B (new)

Jen B (jennybee618) I think there are several RDI authors on GR...think we could persuade one of them to discuss their book with us?

message 7: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (chamilton12) | 136 comments I'm reading Slightly Single by Wendy Markham right now!!! :)

Yes, we definitely need a RDI book of the month!

message 8: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joelizrado) | 95 comments I would love to start the Slightly series but I think most of you may have already read them. I am up for anything that has a Kindle version. I am deployed and our mail is currently stopped so I am unable to order anything until we get home. We will be back in the states early June woohoo!!!

message 9: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Lucky for you Joanne they have a big chunk of RDI on the Kindle!!! I bought just recently Erica Orloff's "Do They Wear High Heels in Heaven" and am excited to read that on my Kindle!!! You can't find that book anywhere anymore!

Well, I've got Melissa Senate on here...
And I was going to look for more today.

Ooh, Kourtney! That one is really, really, really good! Make sure you have kleenex while reading it!

Ok, so here's what we'll do.
I'll take suggestions through the weekend and put up a poll on Monday for a May book.
In the meantime, I'll try to find as many RDI authors as I can and invite them to be part of the group. Then, when we chose the May book, I'll see if I can get that author to join the discussion.
Does that sound ok?

message 13: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joelizrado) | 95 comments Sounds great! I am excited!

message 14: by Tara (new)

Tara I suggest Slightly Single-Wendy Markham, As Seen on TV-Sarah Mylnowski

message 15: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Oh no this group is going to be tough...how can I limit it all to just one book!?!??! I'll say Do They Wear High Heels in Heaven

message 16: by Kristine (new)

Kristine (kc0217) | 335 comments Sounds good. I just bought Do They Wear Heels in Heaven at Borders for $3.99 (they were having a big sale!) I picked up a few others too!

message 17: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments WHAT?!?!?! Your Borders is so much better than mine! There are maybe 2 RDI books and I own them...I ended up purchasing about 20 books from their clearance sale they just had *blush* I drove to 3 different Borders to maximize the savings

message 18: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
Both of you guys are luckier than I am, we only have Waldenbooks and it's tiny and has pretty much the same thing day after day. Believe me, I've been in there like four times in the last week or so. Including today. I forgot to bring a book to work with me for lunch today. So when they opened, I waltzed on down and bought The Art of Social War by Jodi Wing. Then I didn't even read it. Oh well, it's on my list...

message 19: by Jen B (new)

Jen B (jennybee618) I got sucked in by the Borders sale this weekend, too. :) I went in there with my son looking for a new book for him, and came out with his plus 4 for me (Frenemies, Holly Would Dream, Pants on Fire, and a new copy of The Great Gatsby, since mine was falling apart). At least they were from the bargain bin!

Funny how I used to be so anti-Borders...it's like a Target vs. Wal-Mart thing for me. I will NEVER set foot in a Wal-Mart -- but I LOVE Target. So I was the same way with Borders/B&N - I'd ALWAYS choose B&N. But then I got a free Borders card and they send me fun coupons...so how can I NOT go in there?!

message 20: by Kristine (new)

Kristine (kc0217) | 335 comments Stacey, I liked the Art of Social War - it was a quick read

message 21: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments I'm the same way Jen - I chose Target and Borders. I will only set foot in BN as a last resort (although now I go in more once I discovered their clearance bin!!). I have Frenemies and Holly Would Dream on bookshelf and I can't wait to read them both! So many good books so little time!

Those are my favs too. Except Wal-Mart is closer and cheaper than Target, so I unfortunately go there more. Ok, Target isn't even a mile away from Wal-Mart, but I practically live right next to it.

message 23: by Tara (new)

Tara I am with Stacy...Walmart is closer to me but we don't really have an excuse Stacy.....Target is right across the street from work....LOL!!!!

I just started reading "Tales of a Drama Queen" by Lee Nichols. I am only on the first couple of pages but it's good so far.

message 24: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (diva2416) | 819 comments Just started Whose Wedding is it Anyways by Melissa Senate. Only in chapter 2 but I like the premise of the book so far.

I read it in a day. It was pretty good. Love You to Death is still my favorite Melissa Senate, but I really liked all the supporting characters in this book.

Holy Cow! One day!?
I look forward to reading it then! :)

message 29: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Read See Jane Date as that introduces all of the characters!! But it is great as a stand-alone book. See Jane Date is the best in my opinion!

message 30: by Tara (new)

Tara I just Mooched See Jane Date. I can't wait to read it now. THANKS Kourtney!

message 31: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments It was one of my first chick lit books (I think it was the second after LA Woman by Cathy Yardley) ahhh the memories :) :) :)

I have See Jane Date on my bookshelf which I just reorganized for the millionth time last night. I cleaned out the bottom of our closet to make room for more books. I took all of my hardcovers off my bookshelf and they are now stacked in the bottom of my closet.
As of yesterday I went on a wild point spending spree for RDI books. Between PBS and BM, I'm waiting for 28 RDI books. My mailman is so gonna hate me! LOL!

I just finished Slightly Single, Tara. I had really high hopes for that book and wasn't really impressed. I will continue reading the series with hopes that it gets better.

LOL! Just don't let him talk to my bf. I'm going to have eight more books to sneak home next week.....I'm already getting groans and eyerolls about the number of books that I'm going to be getting from all the trading websites - upwards of at least 40! Really, I'm not kidding! I went CRAZY!

message 41: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Oh my lord that is insane! I had to sneak in 5 books today (thank you Border's clearance bins!). I will be joining one of the mooch-esque websites soon (I have 9 books ready to go) and will be ordering RDI books to complete my collection! I even downloaded Carole Matthew's Welcome to the Real World sample on my Kindle...I'll give her one more chance :)

...40 books...holy smokes!

message 42: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
LOL, Kourtney that's funny. I just ordered Welcome to the Real World yesterday!

I know, I had been building up points for a bit. I still have 14 on Book Mooch!

message 43: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (diva2416) | 819 comments Say it ain't so....I am reading a Red Dress Ink book from an author I haven't read before! I am starting Scot on the Rocks by Brenda Janowitz.

Oh yeah, I've been having a hard time getting into a few of the books I've started lately. So I decided to go back to RDI and I'm starting Slighly Suburban. Since it's the Tracey Spandolini (sp?) series I am going to force myself through it even if I have the same luck with picking not so great books. I have to finish the series!

message 48: by Kristine (new)

Kristine (kc0217) | 335 comments I just started Fat Chance...so far it's ok, nothing has really happened

message 49: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments OOOhhhhhhhhh I'm jealous Kristine - that's one of the books I wanted to read and can't find a copy to save my life!

message 50: by Kristine (new)

Kristine (kc0217) | 335 comments I picked up mine at the library.
