Main: La maison des anges. A library book due this week. As I do not read a book I do not own where it can be hurt(outside the house, in bath, etc.) I started on the first book of my Alphabet Challenge: The White Tiger. I have a feeling it will not make my top 10 list for 2013.
My Short Stories book/car: Blood Bank
Next and Books I have in case I am stuck somewhere waiting:
Borrowed: La fiancée américaine. Already started and probably a top 10 candidate. Anyone here reads French?
Phone: The First Confessor
Zumba Bag: Tripwire
Laptob bag: A Feast for Crows
Dance Bag: L'honneur de Sartine
Also:
-The Lies of Locke Lamora. To read for another group. I put it on my toppler list so I will wait.
-Raven's Shadow. Should be my B book. This one is also in my toppler list.
Just finished Trapline Outlaw: Simon Peter Gunanoot which was very interesting. And am now reading Here, There Be Dragons as my son thought it was excellent and wanted me to read it (he is 11).
I am just over 100 pages into Cross Stitch
(Outlander) and I am really enjoying it so far. The amount of detail/description in it is amazing!
I, Claudius ylto book of month. I really enjoy it and added second book to my tbr listFahrenheit 451 group read. I like it
As I Lay Dyingdon't like it but will finish as it is for ylto monthly challange
and listening to Сказка о Красоте и другие сказки fairy tale collection

Yay! That is so good to hear Shirley! I really am so excited to discover what happens later on! :)
I finished Swan Song last night and loved it. 5 stars. I requested The Red Tent from my library but they have to inter-loan it because ours is missing. I've just started The Fallen Snow, my F book for my alphabet challenge.

I agree, she definitely has a gift! Yes, I love being fully immersed in a story so that it feels like you are actually there and I am certainly getting these feelings with this book. I am completely hooked on it! :)
I just finished Love in the Time of Cholera today and am going to start The Story of Edgar Sawtelle as soon as I finish up here. I loved LitToC, but it took so long to read, that I was thinking of sending TSoES back to the library unread, but I guess I will re-new it instead. Something in me will not let one go back without being read 1st!
I'm listening to The Chaperone which I am thoroughly enjoying. The narrator is Elizabeth McGovern ( Downton Abbey) who has such a soothing voice.I am also reading The Diary of a Young Girl- it is my D book and also I am headed on a trip next week which includes Amsterdam- so perfect timing.

Having not been that impressed with One Hundred Years of Solitude, I thought, what the heck, I will try Love in the Time of Cholera. I was pleasantly surprised. Much, much better! My review of "Love in the Time of Cholera": http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Have you read both? Can anyone recommend another by Gabriel García Márquez that I might like, given that I have reacted so differently to the two I have read?
Cherie wrote: "Something in me will not let one go back without being read 1st! ..."I know what you mean. It took me a loooong time to let myself return unread books. It is very painful. I am going to have to again this week, but will re-apply for them immediately.
Chrissie wrote: "Have you read both? Can anyone recommend another by Gabriel García Márquez that I might like, given that I have reacted so differently to the two I have read? "I've been told by a few real life friends who don't know each other and have different interests and reading genres, that Chronicle of a Death Foretold is his best.
I'm going to be reading Love in the Time of Cholera some stage this year though, so I am very glad you enjoyed it.
Finished Mesozoic Murder for my alphabetical "G". Meh, I wanted to learn more about geology and dinosaurs, I guess.Starting Breakfast with Buddha, because a friend who rarely suggests, suggested it.
Looks like I may become enlightened this week!☺(view spoiler)
You just reminded me that I have some unread Gabriel Garcia Marques that are unread. I have to dig in my boxes... I might fit one in my alphabet..

I am so glad I stopped myself from returning it. I could hardly put it down after I started. I read too late last night and woke up and picked it up again this morning. Now, I am just tired and have a whole day at work to get through.
Rusalka wrote: "Chrissie wrote: "Have you read both? Can anyone recommend another by Gabriel García Márquez that I might like, given that I have reacted so differently to the two I have read? "I've been told by..."
Yep, I do have that on my list to read. Thanks for reminding me about it. It is based on a true event.

Love in the Time of Cholera is the only one I have read, but I have the two others on my TBR list. I really did not know what it was about or anything about the author before I started the book. I pulled it off the "Oprah Book list" cart at my library and decided to give it a try. I had seen it on some other lists as well. I am glad I did.
I read your review. I agree about the humor in the story. There was so much to take in and think about. It is a story to savor, not bash through to get to the end.
Rusalka wrote: "Chrissie wrote: "Have you read both? Can anyone recommend another by Gabriel García Márquez that I might like, given that I have reacted so differently to the two I have read? "I've been told by..."
I had the book that Chrissie mentioned in my TBR list, but add yours to my list as well, Rusalka. I cannot wait until you make your way to it and see how you like it after you finish.
Cherie, I am so glad I gave Márguez another try! That is nice you liked my review. Thanks. I guess we both have another one of his books to read: Chronicle of a Death Foretold. See Rusalka's suggestion!

"What did you think of The Bone Bed, Shirley? Our irl bookclub is reading it and I haven't started yet.
As well as continuing with the brilliant Cross Stitch, I made a start on Misery for the monthly challenge and am just under halfway through. So far it is pretty enjoyable.

I am really enjoying this one .... even learning about turtles. 3 of 13 hours into the book.
I started Smokin' Seventeen. I think I needed something quick and light after the book I just finished. Besides I've read 16 already and find them quite delightful. Also picked up Duma Key.
Yesterday I started reading these two: The Vikings of Helgeland a play by Ibsen. Mitya's Love an audiobook I will listen before going to sleep
I finished Fahrenheit 451 (3 stars), As I Lay Dying (1 star) and I, Claudius(5 stars)

I love the Plum series...they're my go to reads when I need a giggle.

sex drugs, more drugs, still more drugs and occasionally some rocka and roll yes I'm reading my "L" book The Dirt: Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band Also just finished up all of Sir Arthur Conan Doyles Sherlock Holmes stories in its entirety and have been listening to Rob Inglis tell me The Two Towers

I bet listening to The Two Towers is entertaining. I've read the books, but can imagine that listening to them would be a great experience.
I finished Misery
a bit earlier. I enjoyed it and gave it a 4 star rating. It was well written, full of tension and Annie Wilkes is one terrifying woman! It was also a nice quick read and a good introduction to Stephen King's work.
Almeta wrote: "Travis of NNY wrote: "sex drugs, more drugs, still more drugs and occasionally some rocka and roll yes I'm reading my "L" book The Dirt: Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band Also jus..."I read the trilogy years ago but rob inglis really brings them to life in a whole new way. Very well done audio

Me too, Kimberly. I have them all. I listened to several on audio too.
I just finished Caravaggio Shawl by Samuel M. Steward, because I just had to read a mystery solved by Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas, amateur detectives! ☺ (And it was due back at the library.)
Almeta's Review of Caravaggio Shawl
Back to Breakfast with Buddha.
New Month and great challenges beginning withAnne of Green Gables

On the Island
currently reading
Shirley I hope you like the Island! I won it last year and keep meaning to read it but other books keep getting in the way. It's supposed to be very good though.
Kimberly wrote: "Shirley I hope you like the Island! I won it last year and keep meaning to read it but other books keep getting in the way. It's supposed to be very good though."The recording is "tinny" at first but it is good so far.
Having said that I have to take a bit to adjust to the new book and narrator.
