Hey guys,
My church supports an orphanage in a poor section of Guatemala called Hands of Compassion. They literally have cast-off children dropped on their doorstep to raise. They are Christians and try not only to take care of these kids' physical needs, but their spiritual needs too. I just got this update about them today from my church:
" Speaking with Deb Reichard this morning from the Hands of Compassion Orphanage I found out that they received a few new residents recently. A 14 year old girl, unable to read or write, who recently had a baby comes to the orphanage with cuts and scars all over her legs from abuse. A two year old who has been severly neglected is still unable to walk. The two year old was also sick and had worms. A 6 year old boy who arrived who has the mouth of a truck driver. (no offense to my Christian truck driving friends) The residents are taking to the new kids very well. Pray that the transition to orphanage life will go well for the new residents."
After our talk about abortion earlier, reading this really broke my heart too. Especially the part about the 14-year old who was abused. Since that is close to the age that many of you are, I thought you might want to say a part for them, if you get a chance.
Thanks!

Wow... I'll definitely be praying for them. And i find it so amazing that there are so many wonderful people willing to help others that are in need. Amazing, I tell you. Just amazing.
And thank you for telling us, T.C!
There are good people out there, that's for sure. But not enough. Thanks for pointing that out to me, Abigail. I was focusing too much on the bad people doing awful stuff to little kids. :(
And thanks for prayers - they can surely use them.

Whoa how do u feel about that?
Arg!!! That frustrates me. Sodom an Gomorrah all over again. Stick to your guns, Christi. Don't be afraid to stand up for what's right.
Hi, Lunny. :3 Thanks. It seems like it's one of those issues where I get a ton of flack for my beliefs, but it's as Jesus said... "If the world hates you, remember that it hated Me first."
You're not alone, though it may seem. And you're right. Your reward is in heaven - where we will be spending A LOT more time than we will here.
Hi Lunnylovegood. :)
Hi Lunnylovegood. :)
Christi, as I've been watching my Facebook feed fill up with all these people touting "marriage equality," I was thinking about you. I really can't believe how many people there are out there how support it. Especially by those who still call themselves Christians!
Yeah... it's right there in the Bible. All one needs to do is look. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but Starbucks has apparently said that if you support traditional marriage, they don't want your business. I still need to research it to be sure, but it's disappointing. Oh, well. Their coffee is overpriced and high in calories anyway. Anyway, my friend posted on Facebook that she would no longer support Starbucks, and a lot of her "friends" have been mistreating her for it. Some have even unfriended her. It's really sad.I'd already known that Starbucks supported civil unions (I have decided to refuse to call it a "marriage," as that's rather insulting), but if they're going to shove their beliefs down my throat, then I will not go there. I need to start supporting local businesses anyway.
I've heard that about Starbucks, but I have been fuzzy on the context. Though, Starbucks has been very vocal against values we Christians support. Even look at their logo! They are the Anti-Chick-Fil-A, ha ha. I hate to give up their coffee, especially since the people who work at the one across the street from me are so nice, but it is time to turn to Dunkin Donuts.
