Chasidy,well....it was a colaboration of things that irked me really... i guess i just didnt want Sunshine to be of Moriganne's blood line... it was just too coincidental. and she didnt even know she was immortal? like what the hell? would the mother have told her when Sunshine realised she couldnt die?it just seemed forced to work out... i think i would have been ok with the fact that Sunshine didnt get immortality... or if she had to bite Talon to get his blood in order to get immortality... but to have Sunshine in Morriganne's bloodline...

but the plot was very good and the story line was good as well, so all in all, the book remains a winner.

hi Sheila... welcome :)
i liked that fighting sceen as well....
where Ash got pissed off at Styxx (who's stupidity never seems to amazes me) and Ash was hell bend on destroying everything to keep his past a secret... it was good... and the Artemis came in and was like "oh great... which idiot decided to piss off Acheron". hahaha!! Ash is the ultimate god-killer!!!!

message 103: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments ok so, this might be a stupid question... but it wont stop me from asking:

Why do the Gods feed off eachother... eg. Artemis and Ash... Apollo and all his "pets" Sin and Katra??
does that make the gods vampires?

message 104: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne the way i understand it is::yes the Gods are vampires::and i thought all the DHs were as well::but i think things are getting confusing in the books now b/c non of that seems to be metioned::in one of the early books(i can't remember whose)i think one of the DH does drink from his female::someone will put me right if i'm wrong

message 105: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments Ilse.... I just got done reading Devil May Cry over the weekend........ Loved it! I love Sin and Kat and Artemis and Ash as parents. I actually got tears in my eyes when Kat was showing Ash when she was little. I just started Acheron too last night... so heartbreaking I had to put it down, trust me though Ill be picking it back up :)

message 106: by Sheila (last edited May 11, 2009 09:32PM) (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) I'm not even sure I can even read Acheron. I've fallen in love with him and I'm saving his story until I read all the rest of the books.

I had a fit when I read about Kyrian and Zareck. They both had a hell of a life before they were turned, all of them did, and it was hard to read them not because the books wasn't good, on the contrary they are very good. I just felt for the characters so much. It's funny, in the books I write there is a lot of torture and angst. I can write it but it's hard for me to read it. Does that make any since, especially if I actually feel for the characters as if they were real.

message 107: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments I feel so bad for him. He was a scared little boy. then turned so bitter and angry.... who could blame him. I at the part where he meets Artemis. I am reading this one slow so I don't miss anything.

message 108: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) I'm saving it until last.

message 109: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments Hi Lauren...
I'm so glad that you like Devil May Cry...
I loved it as well... Sin is such a, whats the word i'm looking for... uhmmm... guy!! he's such a guy! with the bull headedness and over protectiveness, but i still loved him. And Katra of cause, she's awesome... got alot of her dad's persona :D
Sometimes i just wish Artemis wasnt such a biatch.
but alas.... she is what she is....

Acheron the book is shocking!!! the things that he'd endured.... and the people that made his life hell... i would have killed them all once i got my powers!
no wonder Apollymi had a hissy fit! and Artemis!! I really dislike her...

message 110: by Ilse (last edited May 12, 2009 11:08PM) (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments PS: Lauren ,tell me what you think of the characters as you progress with Acheron.

uhm, that makes sense...
thanks Adrienne :)

message 112: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments oh oh.... and about Acheron's book....

dont you just love the fact that the title of the book is just his name?!
No titles like eg, Night play / Devil may cry / dance with the devil...
no... just his name....
just ACHERON!
like, that alone tell's the reader that this man is larger than life!
hehhehehehe!!!! *just a passing thought*

message 113: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) I can't wait to read it. I'm still reading Dark Side of the Moon and I like it but it's not one of my favorites. I like Ravyn but Susan gets on my nerves. LOL!

I went to the SciFi convention last year in Atlanta and got to meet Sherrilyn and her brother Steve (Warchild). He's great btw. They were playing the book trailer for Acheron and I was shocked! I knew the man had been through a lot but I had no idea how much. I'm a nurse and it made me want to go take care of him. LOL!

message 114: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne i'm now on [image error] ::only read the first chapter::jurys still out on Tory tho'::

message 115: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments Ilse wrote: "PS: Lauren ,tell me what you think of the characters as you progress with Acheron. "

Ilse you are so right Sin is a mans man. As for Acheron O.M.G ! the pain he is put through is so horrible. I did have to laugh though when he had his sarcasm, it was like saying you tell them. Artermis she is such a bitch from the very begining. I had a lot so that's what that is and That's who that is moments. Like when his sister was to be with Apollo. It was like a light bulb went off saying she is the one who causes the curse. And then when Apollymi killed her sister cause she is the one who made everyone want Ash. I could have killed her myself. I am half way through it where he is in present day and sees Tory.
keep you posted!

Chasidy | 157 comments Sheila wrote: "I'm a nurse and it made me want to go take care of him. LOL!"

Sheila, I'm no nurse but boy did I want to... Take. Care. Of. Him!
;D

message 117: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments :D we all want to take care of him, Chasidy :)
i mean with that deadly swagger and aura...
he fits the "bad boy" mold to perfection.
i've always been a sucker for bad boys... now, i think i'm ruined!! i'll never be satisfied with any man, unless they posses Dark hunter characteristics... and i tell you, seeking ancients warrior specimen in modern day civilisation is a challenge :)

message 118: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments Lauren, i know!!! Apollymi's sister!!! i cant believe she touched Ash, knowing that he will not have the powers to protect himself. i mean, thats just down right dirty!
and when Apollo killed Ash in human form, i was so sad! i was choking trying to hold back tears. and Artemis!!! how could she just do nothing?!?! and the way she tricked him in drinking her blood!! seriously, Biatch on heels i tell you... biatch on heels.

message 119: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) I think we should let Simi take human form and eat her!

message 120: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments Well I finished it last night. All I have to say is SK better not stop her DH series!

I hated that Artemis betrayed him so much! She couldn't even get her words right. He was always in pain. I was happy when he found Tory. She loved him no matter what and stood up to the bitch. I wish Artie got knocked around a little bit. When he was reading his sister's diary oh my heart just ached for him. Ash being "drunk" on sprite was so funny and what a chatty kathy he was. Ash is such a man i love it. Zarek calling his kid Bob was priceless. and then omg Artemis watching with Nick through the window at there wedding and then asking to be friends.... it was the biggest gasp of all.

I so hope some day she makes a movie or a tv series i would watch it in a hearbeat

message 121: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Ilse, you are sooo right! Ancient warrior specimans.... where are you?

Sheila, I agree. Lets have Simi eat her. To quote Ilse, "Bitch on heels I tell you... Biatch on heels."

Lauren, I'm so glad you finished "Acheron". Wasn't it just so... painful? Oh, and the ending was just so... Errrrrr! I think we would all love a DH movie but can you talk about dissapointment? Kenyon's fan base is HUGE but at the same time we all 'see' the Dark-Hunters differently. Haha, but I guess dissapointment or not I'd still watch it.

message 122: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne to get my film fix i watch all the you-tube vids....ummm::anyway i'm nearly at the end of One Silent Night::it's fast become one of my favourite DH books::i didn't expect to like Strykers story as much as i have::the love story between him and Zephyra is really moving::especially when he shows Zephyra what actually happened when they were younger::

message 123: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments It was definately painful. I still keep thinking about it, wishing the book didn't end and I can read more of just him.
Im sure we all see the Dark -hunters differently... lately when I have been watching tv I find my self trying to figure out who should play who.

Adrienne I too watch the you-tube videos of Ash and the other "sex on a sticks". This weekend I should be picking up One Silent Night. I am glad you are liking it sounds like its another great one.

message 124: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments I didn't expect to enjoy OSN either. It wasn't one of my favorites but SK does get the reader to sympathize with Stryker and what happened to him.

Lauren, those videos! They do take some of the edge off.

Lauren, i couldnt agree with you more... on all points mentioned... although i wonder if Nick realizes just at what price his friendship will be with Artemis.
about the potential Dark hunter movies....
I know, right!!!!! it would be beyond awesome for SK to make movies / manga from the DH novels...
but in a case like that, she will have to tune down the "nookie" scenes though... or else it might be band in some countries... which will lead to people (like me) having to download it in the privacy of my own home where no-one can judge me for being a DH groupie ;)

Stryker has a heart?! who knew?! wow! i cant wait to read that one...

message 130: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments there's Dark hunter videos on you tube?!?!
*ilse stares at the computer like she's just discovered the holy grail* hehehehehe

I only have Dream warrior and One Silent night to still read... then there's a llllooooooonnngg break before i can even touch Bad moon rising. i think it only comes out in August in S.A...
i should probably think about going on a Dark Hunter detox while i wait.... before i o.d on DH...
or maybe i should just re-read it all, like Chasidy...

i like the second option better.

message 131: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments Ilse wrote: "there's Dark hunter videos on you tube?!?!
*ilse stares at the computer like she's just discovered the holy grail* hehehehehe

haha yeah I only recently discovered how many there are. I even was playing Savin me from nickleback crying my eyes thinking of Ash singing it to Tory.

For the movies she can just make them and put them in that "special section" of the video store hehehe
I am a DH groupie too!!

message 132: by Ilse (new)

Ilse Snell | 112 comments Adrienne wrote: "ahhhh::but if Artie dies so does Ash::isn't she the only one he can feed from?::or has been replaced by tory::"

He doesnt need to feed from her anymore Adrienne, since he's getting it from Tory now.
but if Artemis / Apollo should die, then the world goes with it... unless they have some god to absorb their powers and restore the balance... i think...

message 133: by Mojca (new)

Mojca | 84 comments Okay, I succumbed and I'm reading Acheron again. Let's see if the paperback is better than hardcover. LOL

message 134: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Alathea, you bought it in PB too? Haha, I did that as well but I haven't read it yet. I just keep sneaking passages here and there from the HC. Now I don't feel like such a dork. ;)

Ilse, re-read it all again! Haha...

message 135: by Mojca (new)

Mojca | 84 comments I thought it would be much thicker, but the smaller print really cut down the page-count. I don't mind, though, it's easier to hold.
And strangely I don't even mind creating that spine crease (those really bug me), since I've already "ruined" some pages with my big, sissy tears.

message 136: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) So are you all telling me that I'm going to cry when I read Acheron?

message 137: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments sheila you will definately need some tissues!

Ok so I technically went in the reading order of the dark hunters on her sancutary website and didn't read the dream hunter books. Before I read one silent night should I read ...
the Dream Hunter
Upon a midnight clear
and dream chaser
first?
i was just too impatient and had to read Acheron first hehe

message 138: by Adrienne (last edited May 16, 2009 09:22AM) (new)

Adrienne i don't think you'd need to::others may disagree ::i've just finished One Silent Night::imo it's one the best in the series b/c alot is explained::i couldn't really see the conection with the other Dream Hunter books tho::again others may disagree::one really important thing *you can't miss it it out*::

message 139: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments Thanks Adrienne
sounds like i can just read them after OSN.
I am going to the store later today so I might just pick up that one and Dream hunter. I do want to read them just didnt know if i would miss anything by not reading them first.

message 140: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Sheila, of course you're going to cry it's Acheron! :)

message 141: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) Well what was I thinking?

message 142: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments im sure youll love it.

message 143: by Mojca (new)

Mojca | 84 comments You'll love it, Sheila...And you'll cry. An emotional roller coaster, that's what it is.

Enjoy!

message 144: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne i know i've said this before::and i'll keep saying it no doubt::imo the first part of Acheron is probably one of the best books out there::it's nothing like the DH books and it::is::so::damn::good::but you will need the tissues and don't read it on public transport::

message 145: by Mojca (new)

Mojca | 84 comments Maybe it would be best to read the first part when you're alone. I remember my mother came to visit just as I was reading it and she was this close to calling a doctor, fearing I was on death's door or something.

message 146: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) lol. Well I will read it when I finish the others. I wonder though if Nick is ever ok again. I miss the old Nick but I can understand the anger.

message 147: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 126 comments ok so I got my One Silent Night in hand.... let the hotness begin.

message 148: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy | 157 comments Oh, Nicky. I do very much love him.

message 149: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Hendrix (sheilahendrix) I do to but I don't like what he's become. He's so angry. I can understand it I guess but I miss the old Nick.

message 150: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) Lauren, I think you'll be missing out if you don't read Dream Chaser. Gives you a greater understanding of what's going on with the demon side of things and introduces Jaden, who's the center of the next arc. Plus, it's one of my favorites!
