I always read the whole (did I spell that right) book, that's how I sometimes come across new writers (new for me). Sometimes the stories are even better or as good as SKs. But not all the time and this one was not one of the good ones. :(

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments I stumbled over the league series because after I found the WHs in my local library and with them the DHs, I borrowed every SK book I could get a hold of. Right after the first I knew Darling is my absolute fav. So I couldn't wait to get his book. Read it after Acheron and it was a very emotional ride. Loved it, couldn't put it down, read it in one night.

I hear ya. I generally try and suss out new authors that way as well in anthologies. But you are right some just are not as good as SK stuff or most other authors at all.

I don't understand your question Lily??

message 758: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I loved Vane's book. I like Wren as a character and interesting stuff was revealed in his book. But to me his love interest was just so ho hum and not interesting really. Not only that but I've always seen him more as an ally than a main lead. So it was strange seeing him that way.

Laughingfreak | 8 comments I'm still trying to get through Night's Pleasure, been trying to get through it for a few months now. It saddens me greatly because I hear how great the Dark Hunter series is, but I'ma strugglin' T.T The weird thing is that I sprinted through The League series like it was the best damn chocolate I ever had and the same could be said for her Chronicles of Nick series, so what's up with this?

Though, I'm chalking it up to one of two things:
1) I'm not in the mindset at the moment for it

or

2) The series may not be for me T.T

I'm still going though 'cause I'm half way through because I think I wasn't in the mindset when I first started reading it. Keep your fingers crossed, my friends!

Oh my we are in total opposite!!! since I love The DH series I'm struggling on the League series lol. But I'll try again. I'm new in this sci-fi thing. I'm curious about Darling but Im struggling just like you are with Night pleasure:)

I always say put it down and try it at another time. Might be trying to force it at the moment and it's not translating all that well. So coming back to it later never hurts.

That's a good idea putting it down and finish it another time. It took me almost two months before I touched Acheron because everyone was saying how cruel and sad his childhood was and then I read it in a few nights. Darlings book I sucked in in a one-night-session as I loved him the most in the league universe. I do like some of SKs books more than others but I had only with a few really trouble (time untime and a few of the anthologies). Mindset is a big thing because sometimes I pick up a regency book in between to relax and get away from the torture and the sad past lifes of all Sherris characters.

Aarati | 145 comments i haven't been able to get hold of dream chaser. i can only find it in spanish and not english. and i'm currently holding off from reading acheron coz, i love acheron and can't make myself read about his atrocious childhood.

message 773: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Aarati, do you have any type of ebook reader? Might be able to help ya out.

message 774: by Robbie (new)

Robbie Thornton (buttonbrite) | 36 comments Aarati, the first half of Acheron is painful, but it's so worth it in the end.

message 775: by Aarati (new)

Aarati | 145 comments Dhfan4life, my P.c supports only pdf, txt, docx, epub and lit format. Don't have any ebook reader per se

message 776: by Aarati (new)

Aarati | 145 comments Robbie, yeah my friend said the same thing to me. But i really wanted to read the series in order and i still don't have the english version of xypher's book. :(

message 777: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Aarati PM me, I think I have a epub I can send your way.

message 778: by Robbie (new)

Robbie Thornton (buttonbrite) | 36 comments Awee Xypher's book was one of my favorites. Hope Dhfan can hook you up. Really, I'm a big fan of reading in order, so I see your point. My joy in a series comes from the developing story arcs that are carried through several books. I totally "get it". I caught some on ereader, some in audio. But I kept it in order at all costs.

message 779: by Aarati (new)

Aarati | 145 comments Robbie I hope so too. :)

Too bad, we have two books in my local library but that doesn't help you. Have you tried your local library?

message 781: by Aarati (new)

Denise (justplainme) Great!

Donna (BLHmistress) (BLHmistress) | 68 comments I am currently doing a reread of the series, hoping I will finish in time for Styxx's release. Right now I am on Night Embrace.

What really gets me just how comfortable it is to go back to this world.

I haven't tried her other series yet, just been stuck in her Dark Hunter world. I hope someday I can. Which of the others should I try first ?

Her Leaque series is great.

Donna (BLHmistress) (BLHmistress) | 68 comments I will have to try that one next then that's if I can ever pull myself out of the DH world long enough too :)>

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP | 1837 comments I preordered styxx

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments Me too. Got an autographed copy coming...can't wait.

Donna (BLHmistress) (BLHmistress) | 68 comments I have thinking about getting an autographed copy been wanting one so badly and the cases they come in are so beautiful.

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP | 1837 comments I am gonna reread the entire DH series before I read styxx

message 793: by Manuela (new)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments Don't you have a life, Ray?

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP | 1837 comments yes . where did that question come from?

message 795: by Manuela (last edited Aug 20, 2013 09:56AM) (new)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments It is only a few more weeks and there are soooo many books before Styxx, when do you want to read them all (unless you have already a head start and no personal life or work to do). I was just kidding...
You are at least ambitious...

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP | 1837 comments I just wanna read them. that's all

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP | 1837 comments I finished both julian's and Kyrian's book in a day

message 798: by Manuela (new)

Manuela (manu21) | 2559 comments Is Kyrian's the first DH book? (I have read that one way after all the others about a year ago.) I do the BOTM thread and want to read the books there in the time frame and participate in the discussions. I can't be bothered since I read out of order (chronological or otherwise) ~wink~
