Liz, I did nothing wrong, now you're just attacking me. I said I wouldn't apologize. So, let's debate...
Marley, I don't mean offense, but being too stubborn to apologize for something that many people obviously believe was indeed offensive (compared to you believing it wasn't) is just a little sad and kind of pompous. Admitting that you’re wrong or even saying you're sorry isn’t a bad thing. I’m just saying.
I wasn't though, I made an arguement, IT WASN'T OFFENSIVE ARE YOU EVER GOING TO SHUT UP...And even if I did think it offensive, I most likely wouldn't apologize because I think the way you guys have reacteed, was just as sad... You've been bitching about my one little, sentance, for two days now
GET OVER YOURSELVES...
Sorry, I needed to yell at you, I felt it was time to get that over with.
Can we just move on from this? Seriously, Marley wasn't trying to be mean. Letting this affect the debate will just turn into one big mess.
Marley wrote: "Liz, I did nothing wrong, now you're just attacking me. I said I wouldn't apologize. So, let's debate..."How is this post attacking you?
Enough nonsense. This topic is being put back in action this time please even if you have a valid argument, be kind and don't offend people. Capiche? Capiche. Debate away!
I'm sorry for nagging or being obnoxious, but Marley
I think apologizing is just an important part of life. That is okay, though, you clearly don't feel inclined to apologize.
But yes we can move on. OFFICIALLY MOVED ON.
BULL CRAP...
says in the bible that you can not test your god...that is a test why should he do anything for us when we don't do much for him...he shouldn't...and if you read the bible then you would know that jesus himself was tempted by satan to test god and he said... DO NOT TEST GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (that was edited by me!!!!!!!!!!! it wasn't said exactly like that)

Why not test God? Other than it being a sin. Because if you were to test God he would fail the tests.
"says in the bible that you can not test your go"
Because the people who thought up that rule wanted to make sure no one could think too hard about what they are being spoon-fed. If God is tested, he fails. So, make it bad to do that. Rather sneaky, and a petty, human (not divine) thing to do.

I don't think you all understand. The whole point of God is not that there is evidence or tests to prove him, that isn't supposed to matter. Faith is what we are supposed to have. You guys clearly don't all have faith in God, so stop challenging God. There is NO evidence! Those who follow him/her just have faith.
Yes. It can be. But the point is that it doesn't matter whether there is evidence. There isn't, and we are all aware of that. Faith in God is what makes religion and God. I'm not about to convince myself that there is evidence that God exists. The whole basis of religion is FAITH. So what if it is misleading? Maybe I don't need everything in life to be factual, maybe some things need to be believed without scientific explanation and without an encyclopedia definition and without a phylum or philosophy or genre or class, sometimes things need to be left up in the air, guided only by faith.

X) I like quoting people.

It's misleading! What if none of it is true, Liz? And you've lived your life believing in it only to find out that when you die, you die and there is no afterlife.
Than I will have had some consoling spirits to help me through my life and some good practice in faith which can never do anyone harm. I will have lived a good life, regardless, and faith will just be another enriching experience.
no you don't test god because he is god...duh...
Sara... you may want to calm down :)They're debating. You're complaining.
Otherwise they'll start "being mean" again.
No, I think you don't question God because the basis of God and religion is not reality, it is faith, something nobody can justify or prove. Except Aquinas. Man, he was a cool guy.
no i am not complaining i am just stating the fact that there are a lot of haters on this group...i am one of them...i don't like obama and if you wanna call me a hater go right ahead it won't bother me...
"Now the object of the theological virtues is God Himself, Who is the last end of all, as surpassing the knowledge of our reason. On the other hand, the object of the intellectual and moral virtues is something comprehensible to human reason. Wherefore the theological virtues are specifically distinct from the moral and intellectual virtues."-Aquinas, a cool guy
I don't think that all of them, if any, are haters, Sara. And no offense, but why must you put all of that space to separate sentences and such in your post? It can get a little annoying...
More from the cool guy:1. God is simple, without composition of parts, such as body and soul, or matter and form.[58:]
2. God is perfect, lacking nothing. That is, God is distinguished from other beings on account of God's complete actuality.[59:]
3. God is infinite. That is, God is not finite in the ways that created beings are physically, intellectually, and emotionally limited. This infinity is to be distinguished from infinity of size and infinity of number.[60:]
4. God is immutable, incapable of change on the levels of God's essence and character.[61:]
5. God is one, without diversification within God's self. The unity of God is such that God's essence is the same as God's existence. In Aquinas's words, "in itself the proposition 'God exists' is necessarily true, for in it subject and predicate are the same."[62:]
i only do that when the next thing that i have to say is completely different from the thing that i was just saying...
like this...
hi people what is going on
who loves pie
like this...

who loves pie
i just skip until i can't see what i just wrote...so i don't get distracted i guess...

Debate, anyone?
awesomess...he does sound cool
"Except Aquinas. Man, he was a cool guy. "
His first 3 proofs were the same circular logic dressed in different ideas.

Nothing gives him the authority to claim such ideas.

sorry about the whole diss thing i just couldn't think of the right word...

So, nothing gives him the authority to claim these ideas? Well then nothing gives Galileo or Newton or Socrates or Plato or Aristotle or you or me the authority to claim any of our ideas or philosophies.
He was an extremely famous, studious, and wise philosopher who dedicated his life to many of his studies. And then became a Saint posthumously. So yah, he really doesn't deserve any credit for being a wise guy.
YEAH THAT IS WHAT I MEANT...THANKS
sorry caps

"What gives science the authority to claim that God doesn't exist?
"
Claims require proof. It's not just a scientific idea. The court's will not convict on faith.

The difference is they could see, they had proof, they had logic.

we also do in a way...it just sort of requires an open-mind-ish-ness i guess that is how you could put it...
sorry if that didn't make sense...
sorry if that didn't make sense...
He had reason of some degree behind his thesis. Research him, see what comes up. I don't see why you are stuck on the fact that God doesn't exist. It isn't something that can be proved, it is BLIND FAITH. Those who will BELIEVE worship, those who won't, don't. That is how it works, end of story. Don't yuck my yum, I like my faith, it rocks my socks, you do whatever you want, just don't hurt my God or faith. Capiche?

"
Feelings and wishful thinking do make things true.
"just don't hurt my God or faith"
Then why do you wish to debate? It's obvious that things get heated around here.

Oh! Listen to my new song!Don't yuck my yum, I like my faith, it rocks my socks, you do whatever you want, cuz I'm getting sick and tired
of all this useless chatter,
you can't disprove my GOd,
so why do we all bother?
i have said that too...we can't prove and they can't disprove...
don't yuck my yum...ha ha ha ha funny

Do you believe the Pagan gods exist? Why?
There is equal lack of proof for both. What makes yours special?

what makes him special is that we believe in him...i don't really have a reason other than i believe in him...that is just how it is...
no i don't believe in the pagan gods...
