I assume that you meant task 30.3, Donna Jo's task, rather than 30.2, Dlmrose's task and that's how I've marked the spreadsheet.

No need to repost, just want to let you know so you can correct your records.

Thanks for the quick heads up, Elizabeth. Found the problem and fixed it - it will show up in the next update.

Please post your tasks in numerical order, smallest to largest - it makes it easier to log them in.

Brian | 153 comments The Readerboard shows me as having 35 points, but my records show it should only be 30. The tasks I have finished so far are 5.4, 5.6, 5.10, and 15.7. My Readerboard name is BRIAN.

i'm sorry. I'm going to have to withdraw from this challenge. My computer is doing wonky things--I spent 1 1/12 hours just trying to make that entry and it obviously didn't take. I'll watch for questions on my task and do the reading, but can't spend that amount of time making wrong entries.

This name isn't listed on the Readerboard - please post in the readerboard thread so that Kristi can get you added to the Readerboard - or, if you have a different readerboard name, please repost with that name.

Also, on your book for 5.4 - you will need to either get e-book approval or get the paperback edition added to GR before you repost. If you ask in the librarian thread here, someone can do that for you.

Thanks, Dee. I'm trying to decide if it's the old computer, the new computer, or just me. I've been doing this one forever, so it's probably time to take a break. I'm not giving up on reading everyone else's comments, though. I really like the people in this group.

Tracy post 422
The only "Tracy" on the Readerboard is Tracy K. If that is you, you'll need to repost your tasks with your readerboard name. If it is not you, you need to post in the Readerboard name thread, http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/4..., so that Kristi can add you to the Readerboard.

Your post for 15.10 won't work, because you cannot claim books with fewer than 500 pages that you started before the beginning of the challenge.
10. Pre-reading: Books longer than 499 pages that were started any time before the beginning of a challenge can be used to fulfill a task if more than half the book is read during the challenge.
For example, if you were to read 249 pages (or less) of a 500 page book before the start of a challenge, this book would count if it met a task requirement. However, if you had read 250 pages (or more) of a 500 page book before the start of a challenge, this book would not count. Books less than 500 pages should NOT be begun before the start of a challenge.

I think there is something wrong with the HTML of the bookcover for The Giving Quilt An Elm Creek Quilts Novel by Jennifer Chiaverini , as you can see it won't translate over into the pix of the book. Help, I reposted, but it is no different. There is something really weird going on with this book - I looked at this post a little while ago, and the cover was there. I went away and did something else, and now it's the X again. I don't see any way for you to post this cover - at least so that it will stick - but I did see it fleetingly, so I'm just going to go ahead and count it.

Katie M post 475

Unfortunately, By The Numbers has been marked by 3 users as "childrens," so it cannot be used for this task since it has fewer than 300 pages. No, I can't understand why it's marked this way either, unless it's because, from the description, it appears that a 7 year old is a character in the book. However, although the genre system is certainly imperfect, it's the only one we've got, and if we don't use the genres listed on GR, this challenge will become impossible to moderate.

I hope that you will be able to use this book for a 5, 10, or 15 point task.

message 78: by Katie (new)

Sandy - if you click on the 3 users (which I did out of curiosity) - you get this error - http://www.goodreads.com/shelf/users/...

looks like they no longer have it shelved that way...

Katie It didn't even occur to me that this type of book would be labeled "children", so I didn't even look. My fault. I have another book I recently read that can be swapped in, I just have to get it approved for lenth. No problem. :)

Your name is not on the Readerboard Names list. Please post in the Readerboard Names thread so that Kristi can get you added to the Readerboard.

After you have been added to the Readerboard, please repost your tasks including your Readerboard name.

Post 495 - for task 25.1, option 4, please explain how the book is set in Italy. The GR description of the book suggests that it is set in "World War II Austria." If the book is primarily set in Italy, please explain.

For task 30.4, you must include in your post the specific list on which you found your book and the date on which you found it there. Please note the "Required" information specified at the end of the task.

yes, we looked at that. Unfortunately, it's still there as a genre. I don't know why/how this works on GR.

ETA - one thing we found is that 3 users (who are shown) have the book shelved as "kids." Perhaps GR converts this to "childrens" as a genre (just a guess).

Ok :) I am now added to the reader board and I will repost. First I'll adress the Italy question. This book is kind of a story within a story. There are several different mysteries to solve, past and present, involving many different characters. It is set in California, Arizona, Austria, and Italy. The main story line is a woman's husband goes missing - this happens in Italy. She later returns to Italy to figure out more of the puzzle. Throughout the book she recounts several memories and those also take place in Italy. We learn detail of several land marks, hotels, police stations and their policy, air port etc. all in Italy. Let me know if it counts. Also I will be more specific with the challenge details when I post. Thanks.

For 5.2, you used I Feel Bad About My Neck: And Other Thoughts on Being a Woman. There are actually 3 Bs in the title and subtitle combined. However, since it was approved in the help thread and you presumably relied upon this, you will still receive the points.

For anyone posting in the future, this book will not work for 5.2, and everyone should remember that the title, subtitle, and author's name are all considered in counting up the number of letters.

The task requires that the book be "set in" the specific country. I have checked with the task creator and she is willing to allow it if at least 2/3 of the book is set in the specified country. If that's the case here, please explain that in your repost.
