Cheryl (cherylllr) Sounds like a neat book if someone can remember it!

Teddie (teddieg) | 26 comments I second the Vorkosigan saga - Miles is a terrific protagonist. I just finished Red Rising - fantastic read that may be right up his alley.

Peter Dickinson, Changes trilogy. The Weathermonger is the one you are remembering.

John Ayliff If he's willing to look at really old stuff, he could try E. E. Smith's Lensman series (Triplanetary etc.).

Julie Irvin | 11 comments I just finished a book called Aschwood Academy by M.B. Cohen. It was a really great fun and quick read. I'm actually reading it again with my daughter. It's an adventure/ fantasy novel about a school for the magically gifted and has many twists and turns that keep it really interesting and fun. My daughter also is getting a kick out of its humor. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Harry Potter. If anyone else gets a chance to read it I'd love to chat about it!

Jamie Fugate | 11 comments 100 Cupboards by N D Wilson, Pure Trilogy by Julianna Baggott is the best YA I've ever read

Sam Friedman (sam_ramirez) | 5 comments I am a big fan of "Boat of a Million Years" by Poul Anderson. I read it as a teen, though the book is for adults. I also am a fan of Harry Turtledove's "Crosstime Traffic" books.

M. Austin | 5 comments Red Rising - funnily enough considering the group's to-read list - reminded me very much of Ender's Game in some places, despite the two books' seeming differences. Think I even caught a tiny Ender's Game reference nestled in the text.

Bill Yancey (goodreadscombillyancey) I'm sure the teenager has progressed on to stories with sex in them over the last 2.5 years, but one of the best sci-fi stories I read as a young teen was More Than Human by Theodore Sturgeon.

Marcel (mmb_) | 31 comments Hmm teenage boy.
starship troopers by Robert Heinlein is a future war, action novel which was written for teenage boys. but it might come across a bit dated, maybe.

old man's war by [john scalzi] might work, but not sure it's YA, might have to wait a couple of years. depends on the kid.

I read Player of Games by Iain M Banks when I was a teenager.

Oh, and I got properly into SciFi reading Transfer by Stanislaw Lem

For a teenager, maybe also cool, but again rather classic Harry Harrison the Steelrat cycle.

Or, if he's more into FF Philip Jose Farmer's World of Tiers cycle

Bryan | 5 comments Heinlein's Between Planets or The Rolling Stones were good fun, a little lighter than Ender's.

No I was 100% series especially the New Testament because Ender is the closest person I have ever read to be Jesus, which people usually never talks about. Plus most of the things that Card has written has a religious undertone..
