Still working on A Game of Thrones reading a little bit at a time here or there. Went on a short road trip over the weekend and started and finished The Fiery Heart. My goodness, such a sad and suspenseful cliffhanger! I wasn't going to read the next one in the series until next week but I requested it at the library right away! Now I am returning to the 50 states of YA list and starting My Life Next Door for Connecticut.

Yes, I think Shakespeare was definitely lacking in the droid department!
I read Mrs. D for only about 20 minutes last night, as my mind began to wander, but I couldn't sleep, so I picked up Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life to finish Level 6 in the serial killers challenge. It's also one of the monthly reads for the Graphic Novel Reading Group. It was fun, and silly, quite perfect for how little my brain was wanting to work last night.
I really want to finish Shift this week, because Girl in a Band is finally in, and I'm anxious to read it.
Just started two new releases, Dumplin' by Julie Murphy and Devoted in Death by J.D. Robb. Since Devoted in Death is #41 in the series, once I finish it's enough to finish a level on the Serial Killers Challenge, right?
I am 73% into The Prisoner of Heaven and feel the need to look up the buddy read and check out the spoilers. No questions really, I just feel the need to see the comments. I almost want to stretch the book out now that it is soon coming to an end. I needed an audio book and everything I really wanted to listen to is on hold, so I downloaded Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife: Pride and Prejudice Continues. I have listened to about 5 hours worth. Some is really drivel, but it got more interesting last night when Mr. and Mrs. Darcy finally spent their first night at Pemberly. :0)

Yes, that's right.
I finished Glory in Death. I'm really enjoying this series so far, but not sure I can hang in for the long haul. 41 books! Phew!Tomorrow I start The Golem and the Jinni.
Lynda wrote: "On my last day's drive, I started listening to A Canticle for Leibowitz.."Terrific book!
Janice wrote: " Tomorrow I start [book:The Golem and the Jinni|158..."It has been in my TBR for years!
@ Janice I agree 41 books is a stretch so I am glad for fictfact so then I can throw them in whenever the mood strikes. Also let me know how you like The Golem and the Jinni. I have had that on my tbr for awhile
I have had the Golem and the Jinni for a while, but George Guidalls voice is so recognizable I have to soread his narrations out. Although I suppose if I don't listen to any books in the near future the Dark Tower is the last one I heard and I could probably try Golem in 3-4 weeks. My problen is Crime and Punishment, Les Mis and the last books of dark tower series were done by Guidall and being they were all lengthy listens my brain likes to go back to those.
Gah, I just did the dumbest thing! I went to return The Shadow of the Wind using the Overdrive App, and accidentally returned A Canticle for Leibowitz! I only had 2 hours left in the book, and now there's one person ahead of my hold. Note to self, don't do technical things before 5am!
@Travis, Janice and Mariab I wonder if we should set up a buddy read for Golem and Jinni?? I could look it up in the library and get an audio
lol, Lynda! I'm sorry, I know is annoying, but it made me laugh! Maybe they have a print copy at the library?
Travis of NNY wrote: "Oh yeah I'm reading Aloha from HellWow that sucks Lynda. Major bummer."
Yeah, for sure...it was a really good book, too. And, now, I'm out of audio books to read in the car.
I know, Sandra, it's totally a moment to laugh over, because otherwise I'd be crying! Lol.
Tasha☺ wrote: "@Travis, Janice and Mariab I wonder if we should set up a buddy read for Golem and Jinni?? I could look it up in the library and get an audio"I could do a buddy read
If you set up a buddy read, I'd like to join too :) I've had it on my tbr for ages, almost participated in a buddy read once because I thought I had it but didn't, but I just checked and I do have the ebook now.
I might be interested in a buddy read too, depending on when you read it. For anyone that is interested in The Golem & the Jinni and is also an Audible member, it is part of the new Audible sale for $4.95.
As Peggy mentioned theee is an old buddy read for Golem already set up so I see enough interest we might as well do it. I'm ready anytime so it is whenever is convenient for everyone else. I say its a go
Tasha☺ wrote: "@Travis, Janice and Mariab I wonder if we should set up a buddy read for Golem and Jinni?? I could look it up in the library and get an audio"I would be willing. I already have a copy on my shelf. I think they did it before, or for a group read - can't remember but I could not read it then.
Lynda wrote: "Gah, I just did the dumbest thing! I went to return The Shadow of the Wind using the Overdrive App, and accidentally returned A Canticle for Leibowitz! I did that once, but I was able to re-load it before someone requested it. I have had to give "two week" copies back before I finished and had to wait to check them out again.
Travis of NNY wrote: "I have had the Golem and the Jinni for a while, but George Guidalls voice is so recognizable I have to soread his narrations out. Then I was surprised to find it was George Guidall. I didn't even think of Roland.
This is the third book (counting the series of Dark Tower as one) I've listened to that was his narration. The first was a Longmire book and I didn't care for him at all.
Tasha☺ wrote: "@Travis, Janice and Mariab I wonder if we should set up a buddy read for Golem and Jinni?? I could look it up in the library and get an audio"I'm only two hours in, so I'm game.

The library used to tell me how many copies they had, so I knew approximately how long it would take to get it, but now they just tell you how many people are ahead of you in line.
I'm going to finish Runaways, Vol. 1: Pride and Joy tonight (the artwork is amazing!), and keep plugging away on Shift. No Mrs. D tonight, my brain is way too tired for it.
Finished My Life Next Door in two days. It was a light and easy read but also pleasantly surprising. There was good substance to a few of the characters and I like how real everything seemed, not just pure fluff. Though the reviews for the book either agree with my or vehemently don't... I am already on the wait list for The Boy Most Likely To at the library to look at two different characters from the same world. But... Silver Shadows I HAVE to know what happens to Sydney, a character I am beginning to like a lot.
Tasha☺ wrote: "@Travis, Janice and Mariab I wonder if we should set up a buddy read for Golem and Jinni?? I could look it up in the library and get an audio"That would be great!
Janice wrote: "Mariab, did you find the buddy read thread? It's active in the buddy read folder."I did! Thanks Janice!
So, I ordered a used paperback of Liebowitz on Amazon yesterday, the audible price was ridiculous, I'm worried my hold won't come in before my book club meets. I was going to listen to Heretics of Dune, but ended up putting it on hold, so instead, I did what I said I wasn't going to and downloaded the audio version of The Revenge of Seven instead. Of course, yesterday, Heretics became available...oh, well, Seven isn't a long book, so I should have time to listen to Heretics before it's due back.
Finished Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates- it's a 5-star read for me. And I don't give those lightly; in a typical year, only 1-1.5% of books get a 5-star rating from me. This year, Between the World and Me is the first book I've given five stars to- and it's mid-September. I'm struggling to find something to read that I can really get into after this book. I think I've started another 10 books since I finished it.
I gave up The Museum of Extraordinary Things. I only read around 50 or 60 pages, but couldn't get into it. It was a read for my book club meeting tomorrow. I really tried, but I just hated it. Now I plan to work in kill the Millennium Trilogy (now are 4). I'm 14% done with book 3, and book 4 ready to go. I have to rush since they are due on 27th and 30th, and both are requested, so I can't renew them.
I'm glad to know there's a new Kate Morton's book being published in October! The Lake House I really enjoy her writing.
I started Hounded from the Iron Druid Chronicles which gives me another series for the Serial Killer Challenge. I'm only a couple of chapters in and I'm hooked! I've already reserved the next one from the library.
Susan wrote: "I started Hounded from the Iron Druid Chronicles which gives me another series for the Serial Killer Challenge. I'm only a couple of chapters in and I'm hooked! I've already reserved..."Have you read the Pax Arcana series by Elliott James? The first book is Charming.
Almost done with Fated. For those who find Harry Dresden too sarcastic or too sexist you will enjoy this series better. Simikar to Dresden but many differences too.
I am currently reading
which is the second book in the Throne of Glass series. So far, it is OK but not what I was expecting. I am hoping it will bet better as the rating on Goodreads is very high.

Travis of NNY wrote: "Almost done with Fated. For those who find Harry Dresden too sarcastic or too sexist you will enjoy this series better. Simikar to Dresden but many differences too."I added it. Look good, magic+London.
I started Armada yesterday. I know I'm late to the party, but I'll check out the Buddy Read thread when I get a chance. It took me so long to get it ( was on hold with my library for ages). It's a real gamer book.

Reading Saga, Volume 5 today, and hope to finish Shift tonight, I have less than 100 pages left to go, and thought I could finish it last night, but I fell asleep reading it at around 8am. LOL!Had to come back and edit this to say I've add nearly every book everyone's been reading on my TBR! Everything is sounding interesting to me today.
