Can we get more traditional/classical/biblical, please?

message 104: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Actually, we should make a "name sally's baby" thread and get off the introduction thread.

Yes, why don't you create one.

Félix (habitseven) Sally's gonna make another beautiful baby.

Hey! My suggestions would be found in an electrician's bible, a plumber's bible and a video gamer's bible!

Anne Marie Hi I'm Anne Marie. I'm a librarian. I like chocolate. I have a cat and a husband. I read mostly fiction and classics but there are some current fiction authors I really enjoy like Anne Tyler.

Muddle head (adic) Am Aditya, re-joining TC after a couple of years - not that i was much of a regular earlier. I work as a design engineer in the semiconductor space.

Reading has been very inconsistent in the past, but recently learnt multi-tasking watching my working - house-making - reading - baby-caring wife.

Am a fan of Asimov, Rafa and Sheldon Cooper.

And i co-moderate an Indian group on GR, which reminds me to mention, am from India. Now you know am a bit of a muddle head and btw, am Aditya, or have i already said that?

After going through all the posts in here, am feeling like that headless pirate from the Pirates of the Caribbean who keeps bumping into trees.

Susan | 6406 comments I want to play Pitfall, now.

Hi, Aditya!

Muddle head (adic) Thanks Barb n Susan!

message 116: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) Is there a primer on Ficus and related history please?

message 117: by ɯɐɔ (new)

ɯɐɔ (camalama) Hi all.

I'm Cam, a budding actress and avid writer. I love Chicago, it's a beautiful city that I currently don't occupy. You probably will hear me talk a lot about it, though. Akron is my home away from home (yes, I like the Black Keys, no, I don't park on the Devil Strip), but, then again, so is Savannah, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. xD

Anyway, I rock climb, and write on NNWM, and love alternative/punk/alt rock/contemp. rock & indie alt./rock music, and LOATHE school uniforms. Ugh. Tights suck.

Umm...yeah. I plan on majoring in English or Creative Writing, and minoring in Chem/Biochem or Education.

message 118: by Muddle head (new)

Muddle head (adic) Hi Cam!
NNWM == NaNoWriMo?

message 119: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Welcome, Cam.

As Misha said, we don't allow authors/bloggers to come in and start their own self-promotional threads. Make friends with us first, so that somewhere down the line if something cool happens with your writing you can tell us and we'll know you already and be excited for you. Now, while you're a stranger to us, it's just spam.

In any case, thanks for introducing yourself properly in this thread, and we look forward to getting to know you.

Akron was quite the happening place musically for a quick moment back in the late 70's: Devo, The Bizarros, Rubber City Rebels, The Waitresses...

And all within driving distance of Detroit.

message 121: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Welcome, Cam. You seem young. How old are you?
Mama Cynthia.

message 122: by ɯɐɔ (new)

ɯɐɔ (camalama) Sorry about that spam--I totally get it.

Akron is amazing, but, sadly, I'm not there anymore! *on the road again*

NNWM=NaNoWriMo

And, you could say that I'm young, compared to the age of the universe. I'd rather not say how old I am, if that's fine and dandy with you.

message 123: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Whatever. Buckaroo.

message 124: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Cam is decidedly younger than I, Cynthia.

I am young compared to the age of dirt. :)

message 125: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Yes Susan you are young, but you are wise for your years. I am afraid Miss Cam is 15 or thereabouts. Caution, people.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Misha, you're in Columbus? That's where I am right now.

message 127: by ɯɐɔ (new)

ɯɐɔ (camalama) Not 15--older. ;D

message 128: by Goldenthrush (new)

Goldenthrush Smith | 6 comments Hello, I'm Deanna, but I've no clue what my name will show up as, Goldenthrush or Deanna, but I answer to both.

I'm one of those people that likes to use emoticons :D :D :D because I'm terrible at being social and often will write things I think are friendly or positive and then will be told they are the exact opposite of what I intended. Awkward...

Now, I go back to randomly reading the group posts; the 'what to expect here' thread is hilarious and helpful, because I really wanted to post about my recent bout of anatidaephobia, but the posts helped me to duck that faux pas.

;D

Anatidaephobia – the fictional fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you. From Gary Larson's The Far Side.

Which page is interestingly, locked down due to vandalism.

Phil | 11837 comments Hello, Goldenthrush! Don't worry about making a mistake, this is a friendly (enough) place. :)

Goldenthrush Smith | 6 comments Ee! Goosies and Duckies! :D

Hehe, I actually used to keep ducks and geese, but I'm down to just my chickens now. They're pets, not food. Though delicious, they're more fun in the feathers.

The name is a longgg strange story that actually starts with a dog. Goldenretriever didn't have the same ring to it...

David Lafferty (danteexplorer) Hi,
I'm Dave. I'm a musician. What's a conjunction?

message 137: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 16, 2013 05:27PM) (new)

A word who's function it is to "hook up words, phrases and clauses".

Hi, Dave!

David Lafferty (danteexplorer) I was kidding ;) Some of us musicians do know how to string words together to form sentences. When we're sober.

Thank you, J9....I was thinking that, should have said it.

Welcome, Soumyajit. But, you really will get little to no response with self promotion before you get to know folks around here.

L.F. Falconer | 48 comments Hey everyone! Hi. I'm Leanna, and just looking for a group that'll allow me to let my hair down a little once in awhile, even though it tends to get a little tangled when I do :) I'm a reader/writer/artist/musician/mother/grandmother/sister/and so far still full-time-employed US government employee. (Slacking off at work right now)

message 150: by [deleted user] (new)

Welcome, L.F.

TC is a great place for letting down of hair. Though it's a bit crazy quiet right now, what with the dust settling and all. Hope you enjoy your visit and/or stay!
