I wonder if someone snatched him and then let him go.

I haven't baked cookies in years. I never did like cooking or baking. But I do like to eat good food.

Yes, Nina, the poinsettias aren't too far away, are they. We're already making our Thanksgiving plans with the family. We may gather the family together for a turkey dinner on Saturday, 11/26, instead of Thanksgiving Day because one of our sons has to work on Friday. So we might go out to eat by ourselves on Thanksgiving. I don't mind. I like to eat out and I like to see who else eats out on Thanksgiving!

Wow, snow in VA! It's a bit early for that. We had a wet snow last night. I'm glad it wasn't much because we still have to put lights out on our bushes.
Last year the snow came early and prevented a lot of people from doing their outdoor decorating. This year I see quite a bit of outdoor lighting around the houses. I LOVE THE LIGHTS AND COLOR! It's so exciting and satisfying to look at. A big part of the holiday for me.
Bolton Landing (a town north of here) lights up with only white lights. I prefer colored lights but I see more and more people using white lights for outdoor decorating. I think it's because they think that white lights can be left up in January and not look "left-over" from the holidays.

Poor, Werner! Just what you needed. Hey, we lucked out. A friend of mine to the west got snow. you, a friend to the east got snow. We didn't! Yay!!!

Sunny, though. That will be nice.

Nina, I hope I won't be a snow-walker yet this month. Fortunately we haven't had much snow and people have been able to put their decorative lights outside their homes easily, even though we were chilly doing it. We had tried using decorative solar lights a few days ago but they weren't working well (not enough sun). So we replaced them with "old fashioned" electric bee lights. The solar lights worked better this summer on our deck when the days were longer and sunnier.

So sorry to hear that, Joy. In England it's usually foggy, overcast or weeping (raining to some degree). So glad temps have been in 40;s 50;s.

Nina, we're not near Buffalo, thank goodness. They have rough weather!

Tonight they expect it to go down to -5F.

I prefer warmer weather but I must admit that the colder it gets outside, the cozier it feels inside. And now for my morning cup of coffee!

Oh, around 35-40 and not so bad. Hope you're feeling bettter. Cheers!

I think you'll enjoy A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Nina. Fun book, but also kind of scary.

Wonderful quote, Nina! I copied and saved it to my quote collection. At the same time, I found the following in my collection:

"Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour."
-John Boswell

We just bought a new fridge and got rid of the old one which I hated. I'm happy with my new fridge! It's a Kenmore.
Now we'd like to buy a new stove. The old one has an attached microwave above it and the microwave is VERY weak... takes so l-o-n-g. And I don't have a second to waste! LOL So I need a speedy microwave. LOL

Eeeek! I hope not!!! This one is just 4 years old & I really can't afford a new one now. Actually, if I have to buy an appliance, a dryer is probably the least expensive. I don't know what you paid for your new fridge, but Marg wants a new one, so I've looked at their cost. Ugh! They start at $1200 or so & easily go over twice that.
One of the problems I have with a lot of new appliances is all the bells & whistles. I do NOT want most of them, but they get forced on me. I don't want filtered water or automatic ice dispensers on the fridge. Tap water is fine & we don't use much ice, so trays are OK. They're just one more thing to maintain & break. Like your stove with a built-in microwave, I'd rather get them separately.

Delivery Charge: $69.99
Savings promotion discount: $-78.20
Total: $838.65
21.0 cu. ft. Top-Freezer Refrigerator w/ Ice Maker, Bisque
Sold By: Sears
Sears Item # 04672154000
Model #: 7215
KSN #: 3457477
We didn't get the dispenser on the fridge door but we got the ice-maker. The freezer is on top. The fridge is very roomy even though we were limited in the space we had. I like it very much because I can see what's in there. The drawers are see-through.
We ordered it online. Never went to the store to see it. We did all our comparisons with other fridges online and by phone. The sales person on the phone was very helpful in helping us locate (online) what we wanted. We looked at different models (and brands) at different web pages with her help and on our own as well.
BTW, the old stove we have now was there when we bought the house. We never would have gotten a stove with the microwave attached if we had bought it ourselves.
PS-They took away our old fridge at no extra charge.

;-)"
I wonder who decided on that!
Are there rules for that spelling distinction?

I was just looking at the ones they had in the local Sears while waiting for service. I guess they only have high priced ones for some reason.
-------------
I have no idea who decides any rules for English, especially our American version. Seems to me there's as many exceptions as rules & different schools of thought on punctuation & style. Just to keep everyone on their toes, we change it all around occasionally. Worse, we expect everyone to know all of them anyway.
We have over a million words, 4 times as many as most languages, yet we still swipe them from other languages, keep them for centuries, make them up on the fly, & stitch them together in odd ways to create more. We're hoarders, that's what we are. We have no idea what we mean to say, but we sure have a lot of words not to say it properly with!
Silly, but kind of fun, unless you're being graded or learning it as a second language. I have a great deal of respect for people who manage that. I pity them, too.
;-)

Here's a wonderful quote:

I haven't cleaned an oven in years! LOL
