Yeah, you're right. But I don't think the thread is a really good idea; Sarah and the Bloomsbury Pub. would kill us for it.

Totally agree with you, Bex, in regards to not having much reason to trust anyone considering her history. I don't think she doesn't trust Chaol, though. LOOK at all she's told him in CoM. She doesn't trust Dorian. She tells him nothing. Not. One. Thing. At least, not one thing that isn't a straight out lie or omission or tailored to suit her agenda.
She told Chaol who she essentially was ( (view spoiler) ), what the king has been up, what the wyrd keys are, and that she hasn't been assassinating the people she was supposed to be. She has trusted him with the biggest of secrets and incriminating information. I think she can trust sharing information with him, to an extent, but maybe not trust him with her heart. Two totally different things.
I am mad though that she could so easily be ready to take out Chaol, but hesitated as she did when it came to Ansel. However, I think a part of that is that Chaol is much closer to her than Ansel ever was, and Nahemia meant more to her than those assassins that lost their lives in the desert. Sometimes it's the people we love the most who can hurt us so irrevocably and who we seek out to hurt the most in return. A thin line between love and hate.

I'm not really calling YOU "Birdy" as in a name, but more so that you were the "birdy" in question who shared the information with me. :-)

DUDE!!! Totally called it with that spoiler!! I totally forgot about that. Good point.
And also, your comment about her not being straight with Dorian. YES. About A LOT of stuff, too! I think it was so careless not to have told him about Babayellow legs. I mean, for one, she felt he shouldn't have been talking about anything with people like her. She had to "take care" of Baba just to keep it from spreading. Considering that she was leaving, you'd think she'd have confessed that to him or at the very least warn him about keeping his f-cking mouth closed, since he's not as inconspicuous as he thinks. What if he goes asking questions again to another person he assumes is unable to detect his true identity? We learn from our mistakes. He made a mistake that she should have called him on to spare him from future trouble....that among other things.
Sigh.

Seriously...her life kind of sucks relatio..."
I agree with all of you.
Though, I believe there is one person who affected her more than anyone and that's Arobynn Hamel. He was, in some ways, her father figure and he completely destroyed her life. (Sam...*sheds-a-tear*)

(Don't recall if this has been discussed already, but)
Was there a chapter missing in my version of ToG/CoM, because I don't recall Dorian doing anything to deserve Celaena's aversion.

Seriously...her life kin..."
He didn't do anything. I've discussed this in excess a few pages back, either here or on the Chaol/Dorian thread. I think his biggest offense has been being born the Crown Prince. He's been worthy of her aversion (in her mind) because he's the King's son, after all. Forget all the ways he befriended and expressed his affection for her in ToG.
I found her behavior towards him in CoM appalling, really. It was also very telling that she sought out conversing with him after all the ways she was essentially hurtful to him after the whole Nahemia/Chaol-is-the-enemy thing.
Speaking of which, any thoughts on what she was thinking of doing when she touched her bloody hands to Dorian's face and throat, when he was standing in front of her and crying in Nehemia's room?
I wonder how that would have played out if she had asserted to strangle him to death. Like would Chaol's first inclination to be to knock her out cold, even though the correct procedure would be to kill any threat to a royal's life, period? Not that could have been the case in this story (c'mon), not with the room filled with other guards as well.

Honestly, in my head, no disrespect intended to Maas, but I felt there were a number of things that were overlooked and not addressed accordingly in CoM. However, I also feel like I'm not really in a position to say for sure, though, about all of them, since some can very well be revisited/rehashed in Book 3. '
But, a couple of things were not followed up on in this book, which made it read a bit confusing or shortsighted.

And that's why you're the birdie/birdy

What did Celaena mean exactly, when she told Dorian "I'll come back for you" in CoM?

I think that's a hint for him -about the untold 'reasons'... Ugh! Ya see what I was talking about? The anticipation is killing me!!!

I interpreted it as her saying that she's going to get him away from his Dad at some point.

I think you make a very valid point. They are clearly capable, but I think the only thing that is keeping them from moving forward is that they need Aelin. Terrasen was the most renowned kingdom of Erilea, so if the group had Aelin as their figure head it would inspire the other kingdoms/rebel groups to join their cause and take down the King. They also want Aelin because the people would trust her way before they trusted a rag-tag group of rebels to rule them. But as someone mentioned in CoM (I'll look up the quote when I have the book), they want Aelin to do as they say to further benefit their lives, not necessarily everyone else's.
Summary: They merely need a figure head, lol.

She's probably the best figure head imaginable!!!! I'd hate to be the King when he finds out who Celaena is. :S

“Aelin Galathynius is dead,” she breathed.
Archer shook his head. “They don’t think so. They say she’s alive, and that she’s raising an army against the king. She’s looking to reestablish her court, to find what’s left of King Orlon’s inner circle.”....If these people actually claimed to have met the heir to the throne, then she had to be an imposter.
Who do people think might be the imposter? (if there was one?)

as in the ones where it changes from character from one chapter to the next? :D

I don't know ... I borrowed CoM from a library so I can't find quotes etc. but in Chapter 50, 51 or 52 (can't remember which exactly) didn't Archer mention that Arobynn had made him privy to who Celaena truly was, or was it only what Celaena is (view spoiler) , I can't remember, after she was sent to Endovier? And if Acher knew Celaena's true identity (who she is), then perhaps he wanted to see how she would react to news of an imposter, or maybe he was trying to make her admit who she was and then truly get her to raise an army and reestablish the court for him?

kinda feel sorry for the guy (although he was mean and all), it must have felt terrible not being able to trust anyone but yourself! :(

Oh, and I can't wait to see the King's face when he finds out who his ‘champion’ really is!! :)

And it would be the perfect opportunity to test a few of the weapons he’d been forging in secret all these years.
What do you think the king plans on unleashing along with Celena?

haha lol if he was a better person and reduced the amount of smiles, yes but what he did was bad and unforgivable!! I think if wasn't raised the way he was (by Clarisse, sorry if I got the name wrong) he would've been a much different person. :)

I think its one of those wyverns he was referring too. Why do I have a gut feeling that he's going to make Chaol or Dorian or (come to think of it, maybe) Holin or Ress or Perrington or Kaitlyn be one of the riders!?

um.. it's 'Kaltain', miss.

sorry! :( :)

No problem at all. Everyone makes mistakes. :)

thanks

Well, they're all some of the new characters, it seems, who will be making their debut in Book 3. I'm not 100% sure if Asterin and Manon are totally new for the story, or if, like Rowan, they were characters who were a part of the original FP version, QoG, as well.

I don't think anyone has a copy of the original FP version outside of Sarah and her earlier pre-readers. What I know about the original story comes from excessively combing the Internet about "QoG" and also looking through Sarah's live journal and Pinterest QoG posts/Pins. FP readers have made many telling comments on those posts/pins where one could make sensible inferences.
Can I just thank you all for being on this thread, so that I have a place to discuss all my feelings and thoughts about this series? Bless, you Internet and Goodreads--for connecting me to my people, so I no longer have to suffer alone in my head with all my obsessive musings and contemplations about these books and characters I can't get off my mind. Honestly, having the community we do here is making the long suffering wait ahead of us much more bearable. <3

Agreed. I'm glad to have this thread to read through and discuss everything!

If so i never read the FP version so in think we may be verging on spoilers... Maybe another thread should be made?
But by QoG do you mean Queen of Glass? or am I totally wrong haha.
