Félix Tremblay | 4 comments We all have a favorite book. One we love and just can't find something as good as. The thing is, I am wondering, do you re-read books, or are you like me, and once you've read it, it's over, there are just too many books out there to go over one you've already read?

I'm interested to know, let me know your point of view, and why!

message 2: by April (new)

April | 158 comments I usually re-read books, especially if I like them, or if it's been a long time since i've read it because i want a different perspective on the series. so I personally love re-reading books.

message 3: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (hobbitual_reader) It depends on the book for me. I've re-read Harry Potter a lot, and there are a few others I've read more than once. But I usually have to leave it for about a year before I want to read a book again :)

message 4: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (jeansoso) | 15 comments If I absolutely love the book I will re-read it. Then when its over I am reminded all over again why I love the book so much. Plus you may read something that you may have missed before and learned something new about the characters. You never know what may happen.

message 5: by Anne (new)

Anne Ellerson | 4 comments I agree:)

TheOriginalNikeGirl Whenever a next installment in a series comes out, I have to reread the whole series so I remember what's going on. That's why I like discovering books AFTER the entire series is out. It just works out better that way.
But, on the other hand, because I read books so fast, sometimes I miss things when I read it the first time, and I always say "That's what the reread is for." So I can catch details I missed the first time around.

message 7: by Robin (new)

Robin Alvarez (robinalvarez) | 7 comments There are some books I read every year, like Pride and Prejudice. It's not a rule of life I have, I just get the urge and turn the page. Then there are some books I really liked, like Eat Pray Love, that I will never read again because I can't go through that emotional rollercoaster a second time!

message 8: by Kirstyn (new)

Kirstyn | 9 comments I do read books again sometimes, if I'm somewhere and I have a book that I have already read and I have to wait for something or if it was particularly captivating to me.

message 9: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 11 comments If I reread books, it's usually ones I bought years and years ago and am some how reminded and I'm just like oh I want to read that again. Or like others, I too reread books when another comes out in the series, if I really like it. Sometimes I just read the last chapter of the last book to get refreshed for the next lol.

message 10: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 10 comments I don't read books twice. Sometimes i will re-read books on rare occasions but i haven't for a while.

message 11: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddielee) | 3 comments I have read my favorite books too many times to count. Sure, there are some books I can't read more then once, especially if I found it boring or hard to get through the first time. But some of my favorite books and series are well worn from the amount of times I've read them or loaned them to friends.

message 12: by Kristerrn! (new)

Kristerrn! (Kristerrnx) | 4 comments I love rereading books. I love seeing all the little things I may have missed the first time around. I only reread books that I love though.

message 13: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (tindakins29) | 28 comments I will only reread books that capture me so much I have to experience it again.

message 14: by chinami (new)

chinami | 75 comments I reread only if i loved the book upon the original attempt.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Well of course I re-read:) But I only re-read those which I really really loved! For example I've re-read the Harry Potter books like 10 times already and I still love them! It just depends on the book:)

message 16: by Laszlo (new)

Laszlo (steampunk) | 71 comments I have found that the only books I have reread some of the Harry Potter books and baby, because I have forgotten what happens. Other than that, it seems impossible to reread. I pick up a book I want to reread, but I can barley get to page four.

message 17: by Jennie (new)

Jennie (jenniebean25) Too many books, not enough time! Although I have been sucked in and re-read a few books here and there. :)

message 18: by Catling (new)

Catling I don't like re-reading a book, because I get bored easily and I usually remember pretty well what happens, why, how, and how it is written, so no, i don't re-read books. Also I'm always afraid if I re-read a book I loved a lot, I will notice something I didn't notice the first time and be disappointed.

message 19: by Félix (new)

Félix Tremblay | 4 comments Wow, I'm actually surprised by the answers! I didn't expect that many people reading books more than once!

message 20: by Erica (new)

Erica | 159 comments I don't re-read books very often but books that are close to me and that I can relate with I often re-read.

message 21: by ♥ Becky 22 (new)

♥ Becky 22 (becky22) | 19 comments I used to re-read A LOT. I've read the Harry Potter books a dozen times and I know parts of Twilight by heart. :D
Now that I have an ebook reader though, I've stopped re-reading, because I can start a new book as soon as I've finished one, and there are SOOO many books I want to read! :)

But if I come across a really amazing book (like DIVERGENT <3) I know that I will re-read it someday. :)

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

I re-read my books all the time. When I read a really good series, I often re-read it right away because I just can't bring myself to move on from the stories and the characters. This really helps when I'm all depressed because the next book isn't out yet or I didn't like the ending. Lots of times, I also reread my favorite parts. But if a book is just so-so, I don't reread it.

message 23: by Soreonne (new)

Soreonne | 244 comments I reread certain parts of books all the time. It's way too boring rereading the whole book. I just try to find similar books

message 24: by Jojobean (new)

Jojobean I like re-reading books. Not all the time but I do

message 25: by Lanell (new)

Lanell Horton (hortonsgirl4life) | 38 comments I re-read some of my favorite books, but it's been awhile. I have so many books on my list, that it'll be awhile before I go back around to some of my favorites.

message 26: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah_endipity) Never read a book you wouldn't read twice.

message 27: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 130 comments It depends on the book. If it's a book I absolutely love, then I'll probably buy it, so I can re-read it again and again.

message 28: by Kara (new)

Kara D'ascenzo | 2 comments I'll read a book at least 8 times before I'm done with it. For me, the trick is to circulate which books I'm reading, otherwise I get bored

I've read the Harry Potter series about 22 consecutive times, and the downside of that is that I now cannot read them because they bore me to tears

message 29: by Cameron (new)

Cameron (jameroncones) | 7 comments I tend to have a never ending list of books to read. I tend to buy a couple at a time, read one then buy another load and so forth, yet I still decide to reread books.

I've read The Hunger Games trilogy 3 times and the first book 4 times. I've read Gone by Michael Grant twice and The Perks of Being a Wallflower multiple times. I guess it depends on the book!

message 30: by Lydia (new)

Lydia (lydlab09) | 110 comments Re-reading books is actually quite interesting, because every time you read a book, you're never really reading it in the same way. For example, if you've read, say, Harry Potter, when you were around 10 years old, you won't be reading it in the same way if you read it, when you're say, 20. Every experience will be different because your life will have changed and so, your new tastes and experiences will have an effect on what you're reading and your thoughts on that read.

message 31: by T.J. (new)

T.J. | 65 comments Generally I re-read some books like, when I was 10 I read the twilight series like, 4 times. But I don't want to re-read the same books too-often because I don't want to get sick of them like twilight. (Which I can now pick up and look at a random sentence and finish it without looking. No point in reading something you already have branded on your brain.)

Well yeah, that's a little different. If you already know the book by heart, why read it again. Although, there are some people that read certain books every year. Like Shakespeare for example.

message 33: by T.J. (new)

T.J. | 65 comments True. But you can also learn something new from Shakespeare because each time you read it (since more classic books can be harder to grasp) you may have a different perspective. Unless the person has a really good memory and words and concepts in books just stick instantly. For me it really depends on the book. I usually just go back and re-readmy favorite parts.

message 34: by Aliyah (new)

Aliyah | 114 comments When you reread books you catch things & details you hadn't before. Like with the Harry Potter series? I've reread that countless times and I could still do it again. I've also read Divergent and the Percy Jackson series over and over. I think if you REALLY loved the book, you wouldn't mind rereading. At all.

I agree. But I'd rather use the time to read new books that I may also come to really love. Plus, I adored the the Divergent series and Percy Jackson series which I may re-read later on.

You definitely have a point there. :)

message 37: by T.J. (new)

T.J. | 65 comments As did you, though :)

message 38: by Kirstyn (new)

Kirstyn | 9 comments It's true you can find new details in books you may have glossed over the first time, which is why I like to re read some books. Especially more complicated, plot heavy books.

message 39: by ✨Maggie (new)

✨Maggie (maggieeg2) | 10 comments I love reading books again. And again. At first you might skip some good stuff. I read books when I bored three or four times in a row.

message 40: by Arti (new)

Arti (a3books4) I tend to reread some of my favorite books form time to time. Like Divergent, Harry Potter, Mortal Instruments, The Fault in Our Stars.

message 41: by Meagan (new)

Meagan | 171 comments I usually don't but there are a select few I will re-read I I'm in a mood.

❤Stephanie ღ♥ღMrs Daryl Dixonღ♥ღ the only books that i will reread are my favourite and some of the are Harry Potter and Immortals after Dark series

message 43: by Catling (new)

Catling I need to be curious to read a book, and when I've read a book once, I already know what happens, so... However, from time to time, I like to reread the ones I love most and the ones I think I've not really figured out. Also, I sometimes reread my favourite parts of some books.

message 44: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 137 comments For me, it depends on the book (it's the same with movies). If it grabs me, I MUST read it over and over and over again until I'm sick of it and can recite passages. If I just thought it was good once or twice will do.

message 45: by T.J. (new)

T.J. | 65 comments Depends...Classics are great to reread, other modern novels that you remember pretty easily...I see no point unless years pass. Otherwise, I just read my favorite parts.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

If I absolutely love the book-wether it is a classic of not) I will definately re-read it. For example, I have a book that I have read so many times I have had to tape it back together.

message 47: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_nichole) | 112 comments There's been a handful of books or series that I have re-read so it really just depends on how well I like them.

message 48: by Francesca (new)

Francesca Caruso | 53 comments I love re-reading my favorite books over again!! Also, if a new book in a series I'm reading is about to come out, I re-read the previous books before I read the new one (:

message 49: by Calvin (new)

Calvin Dean As an adult, I have never re-read a book, but there are at least two on my list to possibly re-read: Tale of Two Cities by Dickens and As I lay Dying by Faulkner.

message 50: by Claire (new)

Claire | 30 comments I don't normally read books more than once unless I'm broke and there's a really good book on the shelf!
